Did anyone receive any email about any price change for Amaysim AS YOU GO PLAN? If so, when?
I couldn't find information about the increase, but
notice it costs $15 to recharge now.

Maybe they think because Aldi has a minimum of $15 they would join the party 😔
TPG years ago had a $1 mth plan to keep number but call rates was a killer.
Aldi has a $5 starter pack. Can't you just port to Aldi with the $5 starter pack and stay on it for the year? Or does it expire after the $5 credit expires (60 days)?
Yeah same.
If one doesn't pay, is it still a further 365 days of incoming texts and calls and keeping the number?
If you are already on AS YOU GO, it's 365 days from the last top up (in reality actually 367 or 368 days).
If you buy a plan, after the plan expires and you don't renew, the sim will last for 366 days from the start date of the expired plan.
So if I have $10 credit and I buy the 7 day plan on 4 Sep 2025 (expires 11 Sep 2025) the number will stay alive until 4 Sep 2026. I could have topped up the $10 on 4 Sep 2024 and not used it until now, meaning that the $10 has kept the number for 2 years.
If you buy the $30 starter pack when it's on sale at woolworths for $10, in theory that could last 4 years, not sure whether it actually works.
Does this actually work?
I thought by going to "Manage your plan" > "Change Plan" you would invalidate the credit you had in your "As You Go" account.
(I assume I'm wrong, but if you've done it then that's amazing!)
Edit: Also doesn't the "As You Go" credit expire 365 days after recharge?
If so, you can still buy the 7 day plan for $10 on Day 364, with $20 leftover in credit.
But by Day 366, you would have $0 credits?
Or did you have to top up another $15 (used to be $10 minimum) in the "As You Go" credit?
Why would the credit be invalidated when you change plan - the credit would just be used to pay for the new plan. If it's not enough, you get charged the difference. If it's too much, the remaining credit will stay on your account for your next renewal (or you can revert to AS YOU GO).
Credit doesn't expire. It is the SIM (and number) that expires. When you first activate a SIM, it's valid for a year. Topping up will extend the SIM for another year. Buying a plan, even a 7 day plan, also renews the SIM for another year (but you don't see this new expiry date until the plan has expired).
As I posted, in my experience even when your SIM expires you don't actually lose the credit until day 367. During covid I was not in Aus for several years, and one time I forgot to top up on day 365. On day 367, my account said the SIM expires in -2 days, but the credit was still there. I immediately topped up and that extended the expiry and the credit stayed. This may have changed though, I wouldn't deliberately try to wait until day 367.
Someone has recently told me that when activating a new SIM there is no more option to use the credit for AS YOU GO, but they were able to do it by contacting customer service.
@surfingedge: I contacted customer service to activate a $30 starter pack on the PAYG plan and they told me it's no longer possible and that I need to purchase a new PAYG sim.
Still $10 for me…
