How did we wash clothes before AI?

Hi OP how to get access? i have no education email and work portal. where to get those? thanks heaps!

    • +4

then you may be out of luck 😭 next cheapest option would be to register for the LG competition where you’ll get 2x 15% off coupon sent from 21 August and use it on the regular store. assuming the price doesn’t change, should bring it down to $849ish

      • thanks a lot

      • does this still include the delivered free connection and takeaway recycling of old washing machine

  • Anyone knows if this is better than Samsung WW90DG5U34AESA, which is available for around $600 in edu store.

    • +6

Samsung is good but with the LG at this price I'd go for the LG. It's above Samsung.

    • +7

i have this exact model bought it for a family member,it's great..

very quiet, even gets stubborn stains out..

samsung are WELL known for being really shifty with appliance repairs, they will try to weasle out and are a problem to get out to do the job,

This lg washer, had a bug pop up with the led display as the owner had bumped it to hard moving it to a laundry nook

LG came out SAME day..repaired it,and left a box of omo on the top for the owner.

the ai features are dumb and (profanity) useless..but there is a cool feature, where u can change the finish sound to whatever u want..i made it play the 2001 theme when its done lol

      • Wait. You can change the sound? How?

      • Yes how did you do this??

  • Thinking about an even larger front loader, any recommended front loaders that are 10+kg? I’ve had a really shallow 7.5kg LG which works well except that it can fit 3 towels and they don’t tumble well, just get stuck by the shallow depth of the drum. If I’m going to upgrade for larger size I’m tempted to go overboard and never have to worry about it again.

    • I’m using a series 9 12kg front loader. It’s sturdy af. No complaints.

      • We have that one. I just wish they allow you to set a default wash. :(

But yeah, is pretty solid. We use it most days and it hasn’t missed a beat.

    • hisense have good 12kg on sale, cotsco had a 14kg haier on sale last week as well for like 1099

    Wall mountable?

    • You can use a mounting kit and put a matching dryer on top, if it helps.

    • +3

I thought only dryers were wall mountable?

      • +1

Old style dryers, not the new heat pump ones.

    • 'Wall mountable?'

'The LG WV9-1610W front load washing machine weighs 70 kg.
The machine has a capacity of 10kg and dimensions of 600mm (width) x 850mm (height) x 565mm (depth)'

at 70kg presumably empty (+ water + wet clothes) - that's about my adult weight, you'd want a very strong wall fixing - especially the rocking motion for washing and spin cycles - that might rattle the roof of some not-so-strong houses …

      • that might rattle the roof of some not-so-strong houses …

Oh… I was wondering what that noise was

  • This is an amazing model. Highly recommended and this is a genuinely great price. Even at $400 more it's a fantastic one.

    • +2

yep have the 9 series i bought as welll..

it's on like 200 loads so far only died once because they person tipped it trying to get it into a laundry nook..lg still came out..honoured the repair..same day..and even left them with a 15kg box of omo as a promo gift

the only downside is the electrolux is a better washer if u need something sub 700..

as the electrolux can wash its full 10k on the 30minute mode

the lg is weight limited to 6kg in the quick mode…

      • +1

Does it actually lock you out of the quick 30 if you go above 6 kg or is it just noted in the manual?
We have an LG that is going on 17 years old, still works beautifully and we can put a full load in on the quick wash even though it says max 4 kg.
Amazing machine, only had one flaw with the drain pump at age 16 and I was able to easily fix it myself with a $20 replacement part and a YouTube video

        • it's finiicky.

Sometimes it wont lock u out of the quick load.

          but sometimes it will.

what will usually happen though is the clothes will be dry cause they didn't get wet….

All washers do this though the only current model who's quick setting is a FULL weight load is the electrolux/westingouse that do a full 10kg in 40 mins

it will only put in enough water for a half load on quick mode.

honestly, just put it on steam cycle if u can or mixed then change drum speed to 800 and it goes down to 45 mins and u can full load it that way

Honestly,to anyone considering this and cant source it

get the westinghouse easy care 500… 10kg… i know for a FACT that good guys will let u walk out the door with it for 619 dollars..down from 999… I've bought like 5 of them at that price over the years to put into my rentals

          • @reader64: im intended to puchase. how did you get that price from gg?

Does anyone have an unused coupon? Looking to buy a washing machine and would really appreciate it.

      12/9kg WashTower™ Stacked Washer Dryer Black (WWT-1209B, RRP $3,999) is now $2,429.19.

  • I am looking for a LG dryer, do you have a deal, OP?

    • +1

Cheapest heat pump dryer (DVH9-09W, RRP $1,799) is $1,295.28.

      • such a shame, it was $1017 on Friday and they've since changed the price! the 29% off on the homepage doesn't translate to the price in the cart of $1295

        • It was even cheaper before Friday….I'm sad I waited.

          • @rekkore: I got in touch with them today and they did update the price of the heat pump dryer for me as the discount shown changed once in the cart.

Any hacks for getting access to the Partner portal?

    • Following, been waiting weeks for a 10kg deal

    • I used my old Tafe NSW email to sign up and order, maybe there is some sort of free course you could use to get an account?

  • Are WA State employees eligible to LG corporate partners

  • -1

Good deal, thanks for sharing. But I just realised this LG model has a very low rating 3.2 on Choice and 2.4 on ProductReview

  • anyone knows the link to the partner portal if possible?

  • Looks like it's on Pre-order now. Shipping 25/08

  • Doesn't have over 20kg capacity size washing machine and dryer in Australia? I want to buy 25kg wash and 20kg dryer combo or all in one model.

  • I just ordered this as my machine died the other night. Have contacted them to make sure it includes free removal of old appliance as I didn't see anything about that when making the purchase, only a banner

    • when you press buy, it will take you to a page where you can select free removal and free installation before you add to cart

  • This doesnt follow the stupid smart device trend where you must create an account/use via the app or features locked behind a paywall?

  • Thanks OP. So tempting!!

I did some calculations, with the 10% off after you hit the $2000 threshold, the net price comes down to $629.37.

  • Thanks OP. Got the 10kg washer and 9kg dryer for about $1.5k.

Unfortunately as I live in a rather impoverished state, dropoff delivery is all I get. Install and removal only came up when I selected a VIC postcode to test it out. When checking out with my real address in another state, those options got removed presumably due to their local carrier's limitations.

    • Well this is shithouse, Might cancel my order and look for something else.. Was wondering why I didn't get the option for removal of old one. I'm in vic and it says they have stock but delivery to door is only option

      • If you got it with the dryer I suggest not cancelling as the price has gone up as per my post below.

      • You might find this hard to believe, but I cut up my last washing machine with an angle grinder and disposed in council .. took a few months but got there. Not too hard to slice a few pieces every week.

  • I just went to check it out and saw LG added another dark model 10kg series 9 with steam (WV9-1410B) which is also at the $719 price on the prouct page!!

    • Product*

    • Yes. Also interesting that the DVH9-09W dryer price went up from $1271.70 last night to $1619.10 today.

  • Ordered one on backorder. Getting delivered on Thursday, despite it saying that it wouldn't be delivered until after the 25th.

  • Deciding b/w these 2 models (WV9-1610W) and (WV9-1410B) as they are listed at the same price. Does anyone know the difference, can't seem to find anything useful on LGs website.

    • W = White
      B = Black

      • +1

1410B has lower energy and water rating.

Did a comparison on their website but I don't know how much of it is accurate with regards to features.

    • Also, for someone looking for this info, there is a difference is max spin speed. 1410 seems to be 1400 rpm, 1610 is 1600 rpm.

  • +1

Can't decide whether to get this or a Bosch Series 6 or Fisher and Paykel.

I do kind of want to get a 10kg or larger machine but I think we should also be able to get by on 9kg coming from an ancient Simpson 4.2kg top loader.

If anyone knows which would be the better buy I am all ears.

    • the 10kg had better reviews compared to the 9kg on the LG reviews

  • -1

any deal for the 12/9kg WashTower™ Stacked?
Also can someone please screenshot the deal, I will try to do the price match trick like other Ozbargainer did.

  • Thanks for posting this skido. Just got a 10kg front loader for $350 cheaper than HN and GG are offering it rn

  • +1

does the LG partner store let you choose a delivery date?

    • Wondering this as well, if you find out please let me know

      • +1

Just talked to the support. The order gets handed over to a courier, and you set up a date with them then. LG can't guarantee a courier would be available for a specific date, but if they can't accommodate you and the item hasn't been delivered yet, you can cancel the order for free.

        • Awesome thanks mate

    • delivery really sucks if you want to choose a delivery date!
the LG website says that someone will contact to choose a delivery date.
I called LG to confirm that I will be able to choose a delivery date and they said yes.
after ordering, the washer shipping immediately with DHL.
called DHL to make sure that it would not be immediately delivered and they said i will get a sms to select the date.
this morning, got a call from the driver that he was at the house for delivery! I don't even have the keys to the new rental yet!
the delivery guy was taking it back to the warehouse to replan delivery.

      • I didn't have that problem. The day after I ordered I got sent a text with a link to choose a delivery date and time.

        • Interesting .. that's how it's meant to work but not for me :(

      • +1

I went through almost the same thing, but I was luckily able to call up DHL on the day of delivery to delay the shipping.

  • seem like out of stock, or its just me?

    • dark colour is in stock

  • After ordering, can you extend the delivery date for a few weeks?

  • The dark charcoal colour is in stock. Just ordered.
