Pretty good
Much much better than it was for a long time
For streamio, TorBox or RD?
From what I have seen and from people I have talked to rd is still the best but some use both as rd has some gaps with ones that have been removed because of copyright notices.
Stopped using RD because they're likely very known to certain "people" due to the very reason, been using premiumize but pretty expensive.
What??
@Phesto: If they're more known, they're going to keep being targets of copyright notice/removals, more gaps, or worse at times the site goes down, during a previous period I've paid for, there was about days or weeks where I either couldn't use it, or the thing I was looking for was missing by a few episodes etc.
@Tbargain12: When was this? Ive been using it for 2 years and it has never been down for more than a day..
@MeesusEff: Earlier this year, don't recall exactly when, but at a guess 3 - 4 months ago roughly. I might've misremembered that it was weeks, but it would've been more than a day or two for sure.
@Tbargain12: Yeah I've had rd for about 3 years. I haven't had any issues.
If I have, it hasn't been more than a day or 2 once in a blue moon
@Tbargain12: It could have been an issue with the addon you were using. You should have 2 setup just incase one has an issue
Can't comment on TorBox but I've never really had any issues with RD
Can go either way, slightly better features from TB if you ask me
would you mind listing some of these features? Have RD but considering to diversify.
Features of Torbox
Multiple IP Support
Run multiple IPs simultaneously.
Integration with Jackett & Usenet
Connect Jackett and Usenet directly into Torbox, enabling searches across any tracker or indexer.
Access to Usenet Without a Provider
Since Torbox can search Usenet indexers directly, there’s no need to purchase a separate Usenet provider.
Full Seeding Capabilities
Use private trackers with Torbox, good for ratio maintenance.
Media Server Integration
Scripts are provided to easily connect Torbox storage to Jellyfin or Plex.
Storage Device Hookup
Torbox makes linking to storage devices easy.
RD. I found torbox too slow.
have you tried it recently? much improved than the early days when everyone was migrating from RD.
They now have oceania CDN
RD is all you need much faster and better
TorBox, especially if you want to share the account
RD has some concurrent IP Address restrictions; does TorBox not have anything like that?
nope, use as many IPs as you want. I'm sharing single account with all my family
RD is decent, but:
In a side-by-side comparisons on Reddit and from my own testing, RD lost to alldebrid in caching the one area RD was supposed to excel at.
RD has also been hit with controversy: they were reportedly taken to court, and according to multiple Reddit users, their response showed little regard for customers. Allegedly, they were even willing to hand over user IPs. If true, that’s a huge red flag.
Both RD and AllDebrid also limit account sharing, since you can’t stream from more than one IP at a time.
By contrast, TorBox offers much more flexibility as:
*It allows multiple IPs to stream,
*includes a debrid service,
*supports running Jackett/Hydra through their platform.
*They make Jellyfin streaming painless by providing a ready-to-use script, instead of forcing you through a tricky rclone setup.
*You can also link multiple storage devices to expand capacity. If you belong to a private tracker you can seed them on alldbrid and RD this isn't possible.
*The developer is active and regularly adds new features.
That said, they’ve also removed some useful options over time:
*Unlimited storage on Tor and direct torrent search on their site.
*TorBox also caps you at 10 simultaneous downloads or seeds.
Bottom line:
For everyday use, AllDebrid is the best option.
For power users who want integrations and more flexibility, TorBox is the better choice.
Note:
Also I got whole bunch of torrentleech invites that I probably should use, if anyone wants one I guess just leave a comment or PM me.
Can I get an invite please
there is no invite, just sign up with the code
You need to PM your email, create a temp email - Torrentleech only allows invites by emails.
Sent you a DM. Thanks mate
Not sending anymore invites. Those who I currently messaged please send your emails so I can invite you.
Just wondering - whats the use case for this? Seeding to trackers? Or hosting your own data on the cloud? I'm a 'prosumer' PC person so could liekly use the service but unsure if I actually need/want it.
Debrid
So looking into Debrid - what is it? Seems the same as Torbox to me.
Seems to be a cache that basically has lots of (popular) torrents contained on it for you to download directly from, increasing privacy and speed/convenience. Does this alleviate the need for *arr software and so on? Or still needs all of them setup to function for you?
So that's what I'm wondering… are these just remote servers that you can set up all the *arr stuff on and then potentially have data to run plex from?
I've got a NAS doing this for me - would it be worth migrating to Torbox/Debrid as my NAS is starting to show its age?
Apologies for potential dumbass questions but as someone who has scratched the surface of this stuff, jumping in further is another difficulty spike, but could be worthwhile? I'd be interested in combinign Stremio potentially, but again not sure where they crossover.
I'm happy maintaining my own media collection and running plex, but the HDD cost sure is adding up, let alone mW cost Tdarring everything to AV1 on my PC.
my NAS got slow, so I bought a $130 second hand windows sff PC, runs all the arr stuff but copies it to the NAS. i prefer to keep it in-house. plus I can vpn in & do some windows stuff remotely.
I have stopped using the *arr and the Plex setup and now rely solely on Stremio+RD and stream everything as the speeds are really good.
Your understanding of the debrid services are correct, plus some also have value added services to one click download from various file hosters too(MediaFire, rapidgator and the likes) but I never have used these.
You will find the guide on setting up Stremio +Rd on the Reddit very easily.
Good luck
@roshanrbb: I'm running the arrs locally with port forwarding on jellyfin.
What's the eli5 of all this?
Streamio is like an online jellyfin? And torbox is like a seedbox running all the arr apps remotely? So they still run all your arr apps? What are the costs, besides torbox?
Currently I'm doing it all free with no problems. But probably at least paying the price of torbox in power and hardware…
I was in the same boat.
I had years of data on my NAS for home streaming. After an HDD died, I kept seeing more and more about debrid and tried it out at home. Now that iOS is supported via a first-party app (Stremio Lite) on the phone (and some great third-party ones to enable it on Apple TV), it was easier to convince less tech-savvy people and parents to try it as well. On desktop, you need Streamio (make an account), set up the addons (aiostreams, or torrentio for the essentials), then you can carry all the addons over to the other devices just by logging in.
When setting up, you can select to play only cached torrents, so there is very minimal buffering. Otherwise, if it is not cached, it auto-downloads to your account, and you can watch once it's downloaded.
TorBox Discord and Reddit are pretty active, as is Streamio/StremioAddons
@f1Point2Life: Thank you for answers!
So I guess the missing question is, do I need to configure trawlers to get content I seek, or is there a good chance 95% of it is already there/available (cached - as if it's already sucking down all key released from torrent.usenet sites) and essentially I just click and play?
I take it Stremio becomes the front-end (in lieu of Plex). Is it clean or a mess?
Most torrent sites are a mess with the different release groups and formats on movies (for example).
I've anally organised and sorted all the metadata for my library (including music), but have had to become a little selective (due to running out of TBs) and now I find I spend a fair amount of time maintaining this - which isn't great.
I'm hoping my workflow could go like this???:
1. Get a Debrid.
2. Activate Stremio and link it to above
3. Get Stremio apps on devices including phones/TV
4. Profit
Am I missing a step (after step 2) where I still have to configure what I get downloaded to the debrid - either via *arrr-likes or a Stremio setup?
I'd like to also add sport streaming of some sort if I can, particularly AFL, which presumably I'd need an IPTV solution for. (F!ck Kayo)
@Thiefsie: step 2 is using torrentio plugin to link with debrid
You should be able to find IPTV plugins
@Thiefsie: The set-up would be …
Stremio - Download and Make an Account
TorBox - buy and log in, and goto setting and copy your API
Cinemeta - this is for displaying and organising. Install into Streamio
https://v3-cinemeta.strem.io
… and this - https://stremio-addons.com/streaming-catalogs.html
Scrapers - Torrentio / AIOStreams, go to their pages and input your TorBox API and select all the options you want (ie: quality, number of each type of quality, languages, etc)
… save, then download the config (it should auto open streamio with it)
https://torrentio.strem.fun/ (most straightforward, but it's just one scraper)
https://aiostreams.midnightignite.me/stremio/configure (can configure torrentio and other scrapers into one - this is hosted by the TorBox team)
You can install both; you just get a drop-down menu in the app. Torrentio has been down lately.
Then you can just browse and search Streamio and enjoy
There's already a referral system set up for this. Enter your details in the box under the deal description.
RD is 100 times better
Got rd for 6 months recently. I have been reading reddit and torbox connections are still not optomised for australia. Wouldve been nice if there has been improvement esp with multi ip use vs RD.
I believe the oceania CDN is still happening
I signed up for this deal yesterday. I have tried playing 120gb file no buffering.
Try https://torbox.app/speedtest
South Oceania CDN is available. They also have a speed test on their site to pick the best CDN
Here is the complete list:
https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/572630/123491/screensh…
Ohh is that new??
very recent, saw it on the Discord and recently changed. maxes out my connection
I probably won't renew my RD in November, running TB with a few users since there is no multi IP restriction like RD
Streamio + RD - haven't lost on that combo yet
basically the same result. It's just a different debrid service.
"We're sorry, but we are unable to process payments from your IP address at this time. Please try again later."
Am I doing something wrong? Have tried with and without VPN.
Happened to me.
The most annoying thing is that they hold your funds. And I don't know how I got it work last time.
Tried with VPN and AdGuard disabled and got it to work.
This happened to me. Is there a way to pay without VPN? Or maybe I'll try without ad blocker
My VPN had to be disabled to pay. Try disabling your adblocker (though I fail to see how that would make a difference, it seemed to).
Interesting, thanks I'll give it a go! I used to be able to pay (paid twice, then I let it lapse for a few months and tried again recently and I got this IP issue).
Cheaper than RD, thanks op.
I'll give it a go
Is the caching anywhere close to RD?
it's pretty good from what I've tried
movies/tv
can i use this in conjunction with RD? Redundancy?
yes, just add it to your torrentio config
in stremio it will give you a dropdown when selecting the source
Thanks OP. My RD sub ends soon, so I'll give this a go.
Damn, renewed my RD not that long ago
The Essential plan doesnt offer Usenet downloads. Not a big deal for me, but worth mentioning if you were looking for an "all in one" service that this touts itself as.
How does this compare to easydebrid?
I had moved to that recently as I wanted to be able to use one subscription across multiple IPs and it's decent, but nowhere near as quick as RD. Would TorBox be any better? I noticed they now have an Oceania server (which ED doesn't), which wasn't there back when I was deciding between the two.
Oceania CDN is only recent, TB seems on par to RD for me now
Also from Reddit
Act fast because it expires soon and is only valid for the first 200 users!
I just tried it and the coupon now invalid/expired
The 200 ran out quick, they extended it until Monday, which is today, so possibly expired.
Coupon doesn't seem to work anymore
AURO20 seems to be working, also gives 20% off.
Doesnt work for me
I used it an hour ago on a 1yr subscription (not one off) and it took off the 20%
No idea then, copy/paste the code for 1 year essential, doesnt work :(
Torbox seems borked. I can't get the referral to work and the payment system is failing too…. hmmm
This device is not available to be used to complete this payment. Please try again with a different device.
What’s the cache like lately?
