[WA] 100% Rebate (up to $150, Max 10,000 Claims Per Year) for Purchasing & Planting 1 Native Tree @ ServiceWA

590

Surprised this hasn't been posted yet. Just claimed my own rebate yesterday (only $85, amateur ozber)

The State Government’s Treebate program was announced in January 2025. The program will encourage Western Australians to plant native trees on their properties.

Help make your neighbourhood greener and get a cash rebate too. For the next four years, up to 10,000 Western Australians a year can claim a rebate on the purchase of native trees to plant in their backyards as part of the new Treebate initiative.

Western Australians who purchase a native tree from a local nursery can make a claim of up to $150 via the ServiceWA app.

It’s as easy as One, Two, Tree.

One: Buy a tree. Two: Plant the tree. Tree: Make a claim via ServiceWA.

And don’t forget you’ll need to keep your tax invoice and a photo of the plant label to get your rebate.

The State Government is committed to strengthening WA’s urban canopy for the future, with Treebate opening from 28 July 2025.

Please check the website on how to claim & eligibility criteria. If you do not have or want to have the app, you can also request in writing by providing 100 points of ID

nsw has laws in place to protect the trees. in WA you can just bulldoze whatever you want up to the property edge.

Source: i spoke to council like 2 weeks ago.

      • to a degree … unless the tree is on your council's significant tree register.

        • +1

          Every council is different.

        • fair enough. Looks like my council doesnt have this.

So i should say YMMV depending on council.

Honestly can't work out if this is a gag or not.

      If a gag - lol.

If legit - you absolute cretin.

Since trees top your list I assume you don’t mind a crocodile lounging in your back yard. People like you need to be shoved in a concrete box in the city and let someone who actually wants to maintain this countries vibrant wildlife and ecosystem take the property.

Trees are essential and we need more, not less of them.

    • +4

You know what else does all those things?

      Houses.

One of the reasons I bought my current tree is there is no house at all, not a single one, just some brick walls. I still enjoy shade and wind music from my walls, and they provide some privacy as well.

Seriously though, you deserve your bamboo.

All very valid points. Not sure why so many downvotes.
Going to go rip all my existing trees out before my whole house gets destroyed.

As someone who’s lived in a total desert - taking trees for granted is not advisable.

One does not know what they have until they lose it completely.

    • Stop bitching, you didn't vote in last WA election.

Armadale is very upmarket now. Properties above $700k only. You'll have to try another suburb further inland for the same effect.

          • @icarus255: I wouldn’t go so far as “up market” but sure to each their own.

            Armadale is very upmarket now

            lol. No it isn’t.

Most areas are a dump/ unkempt.

Had a visit not long ago - area feels full of misery, unfortunately one of my worst moments in recent times.

Yes a waste of the tax payers dollars

  • No photo of the plant being planted as proof ?

not that its mentioned, so you will have to say to yourself….how likely are they actually going to follow through with any checks for me to commit this fraud

      but under terms

have purchased and planted a native tree on your
      private property.

You must not submit a false claim or provide
misleading information to the Administrators or
breach any of these Terms. Failure to comply with this
requirement may constitute a criminal offence and/or
you may be required to repay the rebate amount which
will be deemed to be a debt due and payable by you
      upon demand.

According to my solar website, 33 equivalent trees had been planted, can I claim $150 (only one tree).

  • +4

This is pretty awesome to be fair, didn't know it was a thing here.

Im also surprised it hasn’t been posted yet… in fact I’m completely stumped.

At first I thought maybe everyone had the same idea to leaf it to someone else to post, but maybe I’m barking up the wrong tree.

Anyway, time for me to branch out and read some other posts.

You can select the name of the plant in the ServiceWA app to see if it's eligible before you buy it. It has finger limes in there - $65 at Bunnings, WA for a tiny plant. I feel like Bunnings is ripping off the Govt ergo the tax payer.

I did get an Illawarra Flame tree about 1.5m high for $149. No need to root around for a photo, just upload the receipt and you’re in the clear.

  • Treebate… sounds like a hippie kink…

  • Is Bunnings classed as a local nursery?

    • I would say so, maybe reach out to them if you are concerned

    • Yes.. its retailer or nursery. My invoice was accepted and paid into my account.

  • I guess no edible fruit tree ?

    • +1

      From AI:

Several Australian native trees and shrubs produce edible fruit. Some popular choices include the finger lime (Citrus australasica), Davidson's plum (Davidsonia pruriens), and midyim berry (Austromyrtus dulcis). Other options include lilly pilly (Syzygium spp.), native raspberries (Rubus spp.), and riberry (Syzygium leuhmannii)

You'd have to check the app to see if these exact species are eligible

      • You could add the quandong (Santalum acuminatum) to the list

      • Ask AI if there’s edible poisonous fruit

      • Thanks, I did went through the list and saw apple, cherry wordings but they are not actual apple or cherry trees.

  • Can buy three within $150 and claim full or it’s only for one tree?

    • +1

Appears to be just for 1 tree
