  • alright someone do their magic and work out how long youd need to stay and the cost :D

Agree, need a OzbargAI to work on the maths. Same like the Qantas Health trick get the highest and downgrade after 55 days

  • Terms seem to be similar to the last time. 60 days and then credited in 30 days after

    • Took my 63 days after 60 days to receive my points. Total 123days holding the policy. Wasn’t worth the headache of calling and chasing up until I finally got it. my experience that I will steer clear from

  • Damn, I'm still with BUPA. Gotta start shopping around for a better deal as I have been with them for the last 2 years.

Yeah, loyalty doesn't pay… Need to keep churning as long as coverage and cost are comparable.

I was with Bupa until March 2025, churned to Medibank for 6 weeks free + 70k velocity pts. Now probably going back again.

      • I don't get this. I've been exclusively with Bupa/HBA since 2002, and I can't beat my current plan. Not even close. I've tried, it's always best value for me to stay with Bupa.

When I asked Bupa, they said I was on an old grandfathered plan and they recommended staying there.

          And you believed them. lol

      • Interesting! It seems medibank is now only offering 6 weeks free independent of the 70k velocity points. Currently paying $116 with bupa for bronze plus simple hospital and starter extras. Did a new quote with Medibank, same level of cover for $118.78. It still works out better with 6 weeks free offer if I switch.

        • Yes, when I switched to Medibank they were within $5 difference a month.

Usually the best offers are around Feb-April, just before the annual premium increases. Hence why it was 6wks free + up to 130k velocity points.

    Bupa are crooks - avoid.
Recently had to repay millions from a lawsuit over incorrectly rejected claims.

Time to win back some of those dollars via points….

  • Has the hack of increasing cover level before day 60 and then reducing it after worked for anyone recently? I tried with my last churn, but I stuffed up a few things apparently and wasn't able to verify properly if it still works. Please let us know in the thread if you did it recently and how it worked for you. Cheers!

    • Nope. Even if it did work, the time they took to credit my policy (without upgrade) definitely would’ve costed a lot more than the points worth. I would warn that this is a known risk with Bupa, the delays and risks of when the bonus comes

Any good HI lately for a family gang :)

Policy back in April2024, I havent received my bonus points up until now, anyone has any advice?

    • -3

Gee, I wonder what action you could take — hmm — still thinking …

      https://www.google.com/search?q=bupa+complaint

      • Thanks for your sarcasm. Appreciate real help if you have any.

I made two complaints in total (one after thw other was closed), with over 2 hours on the phone in total. The complaint team called me back at bad timing (during work hours), asked me for a preferred contact time, then never called me at those time and still call me during work hours again, which I always missed. The two case managers can never be contacted afterwards even though I tried calling the complaint line multiple times. Other staff members said they can't look into my cases, and have to wait for the relevant case managers.

Both the complaints were closed due to inactivity for a while.

I was hoping for real people with real experience in a complaint to BUPA. But thanks for trying anyway

        • -3

Gee, I wonder what the next step in the complaint process might be? Could the next step even be listed on the Bupa complaints page itself? Why, yes, it certainly is! Hmm, Private Health Insurance complaints

Maybe these promotions just aren't for you?

          • @YesPleaseThankYou: May be you are right. I am just not cut out for following up companies who don't honour their bonus. Been really tired from churning 5 times in the last 12 months too, can no longer keep up with one lousy provider

            • @b0b0: On a more serious note, I forgot about the ombudsmen path. I work in an insurance company myself and I also went through financial ombudsmen for a claim before. Never come across my mind that missing EDR points should also be a ombudsmen complaint, I will definitely pursue this next step.

And thanks for the real help, appreciate it

              • +1

@b0b0: Bupa is the pits. The organisation has a culture of arrogance and deceit.

I have also had to chase Bupa, via the PHIO, to get various promotional offers applied correctly.

People should never delay involving the PHIO or other dispute resolution bodies (after first trying to resolve via internal channels), as that how it becomes known that there are issues and that regulatory action might be required.

                Good luck!

  • Heads up that singles plans are also available, but the max is 95,000 points reward points

  • If i switch from HCF to Bupa, will my 12m waiting for Orthodontic restart again? Nov'25 I will finish 12m waiting to access Orthodontics with HCF

Literally sign up with Bupa over the phone on Saturday. Anyway to get the points ?

  • +1

Sorry negged from my personal experience that I want to also share. Be warned, takes months to receive points after when it should have came and it was the wrong amount. For me, I was on a simple hospital and extras cover (same level as my prev), nothing fancy and i still ran into the issue the previous BUPA posts warned about. Recently did it took over multiple phone calls to chase up and told to wait. Same as previous Bupa deals, be warned that it may require you to fight for the points when it does not arrive. The cost of staying with Bupa and the amount of follow ups I had to do, it was not worth it for myself.
