Lucky it's only a few $, I ordered a 9700X yesterday which was meant to be $212 USD, turned into $251 USD instead unfortunately.
Total price was listed as $212 all the way throughout with Apple Pay.
I'm trying my luck with support to get the extra ~$39 refunded or credited, but I don't like my chances.
Damn that sucks. Goodluck! If it hasn't shipped could you like.. Cancel it and re order?
Yeah, I thought about doing that - I'm sort of 50/50 given the hassle, is it really worth my time going through all that and waiting given I got it for less than what they retail here anyway.
Support escalated to some higher team apparently, so we'll see where that goes. Kind of intrigued to see if I can actually pull it off as well.
@Apostle0748: Yeah true enough. By the time you get a response to cancel it, they'll probably have shipped it lol.
Goodluck!
Tempted to upgrade from the $200 Aliexpress 7700 CPU deal but with Zen6 and now Zen7 looking to come out on AM5 i think I'll wait for one of those before i upgrade.. By the time they both come out the 7800X3D will be under $100 on the used market. Loving how AM5 is going to potentially surpass AM4 in longevity
This is super optimistic lol. Used 5700x3ds still goin for 400-500! Though I suppose the 7800X3D isn't the last hurrah for AM5 as the X3D was for AM4.. So it should be less desirable.
My hope is that I can live with my 7800x3d for a few years, bump it to whatever 10800x3d/whatever the last x3d chip is on am5, then stick with that for years.
Who knows maybe you'll buy my 7800X3D! :P
7700 to 7800X3D is 15% "50 game average performance" so i wont be buying the 7800X3D.. thats why it will be cheap on the used market :) .. i'm getting a Zen6 or Zen7 cheapo entry level CPU that should blow away even a 9800X3D (unless they turn out to be another Zen5 dude) but it looks like Zen5's issue was 100% the reused Zen4 memory controller.. its just not good enough and limits the architecture seeing how the 9800X3D that didnt need to reply on the memory controller as much because it has local cache was so much faster.
oh yup, sorry I misunderstood haha.
I did consider going for the 7700 instead and saving the cash… and put it towards a board. unfortunately I've locked into ITX so board choices are slim. Asrock b850i lightning seems best value - MSI b650i edge is just no good aesthetically.. Now im just tossing up Klevv Fit 32GB 6000 CL28 or Team group t expert 6000mhz cl30.. Aesthetically the team RAM is cleaner on top.. But klevv has no branding on top so its a toss up!
Or, buy a 4k QD OLED instead and play at native, and CPU stops being an issue :)
@jpeg-jpg: Still helps with minimums/1% lows! I recently moved from 2560x1440 to 3440x1440 ultrawide (dual purpose gaming/work) - cpu likely isnt my biggest issue anymore but i still wanted to bump to am5 anyway.. Got the rebuild itch. my am4 board is from 2018 lol. 5600x to 7800x3d should still be decent. (also jumping from 16gb ram to 32, i wasnt gonna just buy new ram on ddr4 if i didnt have to!)
@ReaperX22: From this 7600X vs 9800X3D CPU/GPU scaling video by Hardware Unboxed, you'll see that your assumption of it helping with 1% lows, at 1440p and 4K are largely incorrect.
@MdMa7: The difference isn't massive, but it's still there. On all graphs apart from 9060 XTs it still was an improvement, generally speaking.
Upscaling changes the calculation here, as when you're upscaling you're functionally running a lower native res.. Therefore cpu demand is higher than it would be at native. I tend to always use DLSS on quality at least, so the lower res data remains more relevant for me.. And moving forward I suspect this will be the case for a lot of people (not all, but a fair amount of people). DLSS quality at 3440x1440 is like 2300x950? Or something or rather.. Which is only a touch above 1080p. So cpu performance may still come into play to some degree using upscaling.
I'm not suggesting it's worth 2x the price the 7700 is on sale via AE. That's just a 'I wanted a cool x3d chip because why not'. In my use case, the 5600x is a fair bit slower than the 7600x, so my performance jump will be larger still… I missed the chance to nab a 5700x3d when they were 200 odd, so it was either spend 430 on a 5700x3d, or less than that on a 7800x3d anyway and bump my platform/hand down my cpu, sell the rest ro recoupe etc.
57/5800x3d are the highest performing chips per their socket and now discontinued. They are always more expensive than the same performing chips (7600x) on a newer platform because people don't want to upgrade their mobo. You will find the fastest i7 of older intel sockets cost way more proportionally to their other i5 chips. 7800x3d might drop a bit more in price as we are still releasing AM5 chips although the 7800x3d chips will likely be more on the used market.
Amazing price!
Bought one of these from the same seller at the start of the month. Took about two weeks to arrive. All legit and working great.
cant use the discount codes for me, showing as $500ish delivered
Can't apply the discount code. It says "This coupon code can't be used in combination with other discounts".
Anyone received theirs yet? Mine's sitting in customs for a couple days now. It's cleared 'Import customs clearance complete
but then has
Carrier note: Import clearance start`Customs and Import clearance different? XD. Hasn't moved for a bit. Hoping I don't have to pay any fees/it gets held up…
Thanks! Been waiting for this to pop back up. Put it through though I appear to have a pending $414.17. Maybe I did it wrong. Haven't done the usd aud thing yet via AE.
USD price showed up correctly.
