Super easy to setup. Depending in your ISP, should just be able to plug it in and internet will just work. You might need to "kick" your connection if your ISP has tied your link to your old modem/routers MAC address.
I did this.
I had to wait about 30 minutes for Aussie to kick over.
did exactly this. plugged it in and it was done in 5mins
nbn HFC NTD box is a DOCSIS 3.1 modem.
Plugin the GL.iNet Flint 2 router to the nbn HFC NTD box.
thanks
was looking at the one below
which is better?
Was looking at the one below
https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/tp-link-be6500-dual-band-…
Personal View: I would go for the GL.iNet GL-MT6000, given the OPNWRT based firmware it runs, excellent support including firmware updates, great GL.int user community, built in VPN clients, adblocker, plugin etc and finally, almost $100 cheaper.
Thanks!
Almost bought this yesterday at $207 thinking that was a good price, glad I waited!
Now I just need to wait for TPG to cancel their shitty service and I can finish move to Leaptel!
This is a great router, I love the ad blocker feature it has.
I already have one of these and love it. Would any openwrt router work well as an AP (e.g. a $50 ASUS wifi6 2nd hand), or do I need to buy another one of these?
Yea an openwrt router will work look into openwrt mesh
https://openwrt.org/docs/guide-user/network/wifi/mesh/802-11…
I thought the flint 2 didn't support mesh?
@xxDAVIDxx93: That link is for the Flint 1.
Flint 2 doesnt seem to be possible: https://forum.gl-inet.com/t/cant-install-wpad-mesh-openssl-o…
https://forum.gl-inet.com/t/i-want-mesh-on-mt6000-flint-2/36…
@cheesecactus: If I'm a gamer is the flint 3 a good choice? I figured triband and wifi7 is a nice to have for the future and I mostly use Ethernet to connect.
@cozeh: Nothing wrong with the Flint 3 for your needs but the Flint 2 would have done the same job as well especially if you don't have many wifi 7 devices.
@satsuper: Yeah awesome. I was worried id be missing out on any kind of gaming features by going with flint 2 or 3 (ie. When I've got other family members streaming/using the Internet etc).
Get the $200 amazon giftcard first for the (measly) $5 promo credit before buying this router.
Enter the promotion code GCAUG5 at checkout. This Offer can be redeemed more than once per customer and Amazon.com.au account.
This a good router compared to tp-links and asus offerings? I really only want to buy once cry once purchase as its such a hassle changing routers
It is definitely a better router than the other offerings. Its rare to see one fault out after years of use. Give it a try for a month to see if you face any dropouts, etc. If so, just return it :)
does this support voip ?
Use a wired Ethernet cable and plugin a VoIP phone ATA or IP phone base station. Go with a provider such as Siptalk.
Have you used one of these? Again I'm mostly a gamer who is simplistic and would love something plug and play in a single story 3 bedroom house.
Wifi7 tri band for 250 sounds too good to be true which is why I ask!
This is my first time buying their product so no I don't have any experience. Only reason I gave it a go is because the brand has been popular - on OZB at least - with reasonable price.
I just got it friday, any questions? Its great for my single story 3 bedroom, get 500+ in all rooms
Nice! Does it have any features that allows you to prioritize gaming/certain devices?
By being a 2x2 router does it make it a lot slower than WiFi 6 4x4 ones?
Hoping the ping/latency is great and you enjoy the device :)
Do your own research the Flint 3 is not necessarily better than the Flint 2 unfortunately
I've got like a 10 year old telstra modem which was a hassel setting up on a different ISP.. should I get this to make it easier when changing ISP/ for future proofing?
Yes
I've got a TP-Link Archer V1600v ver:2.0 , I don't use VoIP and have FTTP 250/25 NBN. Would this be a suitable replacement? (GL.iNet GL-MT6000)
Yep, plugin the GL.iNet GL-MT6000 (Flint 2) router to the nbn FTTP NTD box.
Thanks, got one for $171.12, I hope the range is a little bit better than the TP-Link.
Somehow managed to get Beryl for $98.
I had it at 103 in the cart, but then decided i would only get cheaper Slate Plus. There was a Prime savings $5 code on the Slate page (cannot replicate), was separate to the Visa $5 offer.
Added Slate to cart, removed Slate from cart, then Beryl went down to $98
Also paid with Cashrewards gift card, $5 back on $50 gc +2%, so should be net ~$92
YMMV.
Why, is the cafe moving?
How fast do you need to download cat videos?
Guess you attend the Uni otherwise I'm surprised it would be an open network.
Anyone else mistake the reflection on the glossy plastic as box damage lol
Having trouble with failed ethernet port 1 on my Tplink deco xe75s.
Thinking of getting this and using the Decos wired in AP mode? Would this work? (Large house lots of walls and windows)
Also, does the adguard block Youtube ads? Currently holiday in Albania with NordVPN for this.
You should be anke to use adguard on your TP Link router, just set the DNS to adguards free DNS, save it and soft boot the router.
94.140.14.14
94.140.15.15
Can you use on android private DNs?
Adguard Home on the router doesn't block Youtube ads.
Thanks for the replies. Will try to get Adguard runni g on the devo.
Does any one who own this use it with a DDNS of no-ip.com?
I’ve read various different sites which have said it can have issues with other DDNS providers outside of their own and there are some workarounds and they’re aware of it but can’t seem to find any further updates on this work around for it?
bought Flint 2 days ago and it comes with built in DDNS(https://docs.gl-inet.com/router/en/4/interface_guide/ddns/). I will probably just move on or change no-ip to CNAME
Yeah I know it comes with its own DDNS service, but I’ve had this no-ip address for 10+ years that I have various devices setup for and have family and friends who have it setup based on the no-ip DDNS (to access my server amongst other things).
Don’t really want to be dependant on using a certain manufacturer for access either when I change routers in the future. Guess I might just wait it out and see if they finally fix it properly.
Asked this question on an Asus RT-AX86U post the other day but going to ask again here in case any experts around who can help.
My Asus DSL-AC68U's wifi seems to be struggling at the moment, quite possibly due to the number of IoT devices on my network. I asked ChatGPT about it and it suggested putting the DSL-AC68U in bridge mode and then getting an RT-AX86U for the routing. Seems like I missed the sale on the RT-AX86U now. Would this GL.iNet GL-MT6000 be a good options?
Otherwise I was thinking of getting a second hand Dream Machine, that seem to be going for about $350 on marketplace.
Ive got the flint 2 and run a fair bit of iot stuff off it. 5 cameras. A doorbell camera. A fair few lights. About 5 tablets. A couple of phones. Some PCs and a few gaming consoles.
My only issue has been the fact i cant get ipv6 working with my starlink connection. I keep getting random drop outs. I keep my heavy usage device's on the 5ghz band and have no issues with speeds at all.
How easy is the router to set up?
A noob at routers it it plug and play and the set up passwords etc easy?
On NFC so AFAIK you do not require a modem so this should plug to the NBN box and work?
Was looking at one below as we will soon get 500/50 from the current 100/50.
Currently have an optus Fast 5366 sagemcom I believe it is wifi 5
