I thought Harvey Norman BiG Buys was a discount web site, all I see is full RRP stuff ! At those prices 10% off is nothing.

    • +3

They used to be a COTD alternative but they seem to be more of another HN with local pickup for online goods it seems :/ kinda don't know where they are heading

    • +1

But…. sometimes HN at RRP is almost a deal?
      http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/91770

HN… what a load of crap.

As per my comment below, that RRP appears to be an error?

    • Hi! I'd love an example, because running products at RRP isn't our thing at all and I'll pass on the feedback to the people responsible.

  • +3

yep another Harvey Norman RIP OFF Site ! checked a few items and a quick Google search finds the same items (on OZ sites) for much less (around 20-40% on the ones I looked at)

and for this I neg (sorry OP, unless your a HN rep then not sorry at all)

    • +2

HN is for the SET of both salt and pepper… your everten link is only the salt.

I admit, 2 of those and a bag of pepper corns is still cheaper than HN…

    • Its only a difference of $20.20 delivered based on ur link… Unless the one u linked comes with 2?

May not be cheapest on everything but then again theres always cheaper if you hunt around :D (They also have a apparent live price match thing going, never used it tho so cant comment on it :/ )

Not a rep at all just it was on my FB feed and wasn't here that's all :)

    • Actually… i think the website just says RRP, but that may just be a mistake.
Some things may actually be reasonable prices. For instance:
      $147 for http://www.harveynormanbigbuys.com.au/p/5704/fisher-price-ba…
      And at ebay it's $320 http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-Fisher-Price-Baby-Infant-Stud…
      And at dealsdirect http://www.dealsdirect.com.au/fisher-price-baby-studio-colle… it's $249.

Regardless… it's harvey norman. I have no reason to neg this deal, nor do i have any reason to have anything to do with Gerry and his muppets.

To be fair I consider myself more of a Fraggle

  • Time to stock up on dishwashing tablets:
    http://www.harveynormanbigbuys.com.au/p/5924/finish-all-in-1…

For the Finish 52x All-in-one this works out to be 15.58c each after discount - although this is before shipping… need to buy > $100 or 13+ boxes for it to work out to this price. Managed to get some friends together last time and get this so it worked out well for us.

  • the adelaide store has 3ft everlast boxing bags for $55 i bought one last week so they probably now under $50 thats the cheapest i could find a boxing. they also had boxing gloves cheap to they were all $5 under amarts sale prices . in adelaide we dont have any costco, aldi so this is the only big buy store we have that has the range they do.

  • I've had my eye on the Le Chasseur cast iron dutch oven sets for a while. I think they're the cheapest with $249 for the 28" and 20" dutch oven set? http://www.harveynormanbigbuys.com.au/p/8091/chasseur-2-piec…

But with only 10% off, I'll hold on to my Aldi dutch oven ;-) Give me an extra 20% off and I'll probably give it a go.

    • +1

try amazon in europe for Le Chasseur, i know we get reamed here in AUS on them, they're significantly cheaper in europe

    • Hi empty456, I'd love to do better but with these it's outside of my control! Have a good weekend :)

I love giving the gift of a quality Dutch oven, my wife doesn't seem to appreciate them though.

      • +1

…your wife should just be grateful that you make the effort to cook for her.

    • First site on bing (google has it futher down with HN way up top with other over priced stores)http://www.kitchenwaredirect.com.au/Cookware/French-Oven-Cocotte/Chasseur-Sky-Blue-Round-French-Oven-28cm-with-Bonus-20cm-French-Oven = $199 (inc post) thats 20% off HN price !

      • Thanks for getting back to me, sorry it took so long to respond! I'll be passing this information on to the person responsible, although the product is out of stock it's still something we should be closer to. Thanks again!

  • for practice balls (or balls you play on holes with lots of water), these are great at $8.10
    http://www.harveynormanbigbuys.com.au/p/5643/voit-golf-balls…

$4.05 a dozen you can barely even get bad condition used balls on ebay.

I have walked into the springvale big buys store several times. I walk around and have not made a purchase yet.. The prices are below retail prices, but cookware can be had cheaper many other places.

Cheap electric guitars there though… I don't know nothing about them but guitar and amp packages are less than $150 I think.

  • This could be a good bargain, provided that the clamp is good (cheapies are hit and miss)
    http://www.harveynormanbigbuys.com.au/p/6706/crest-bicycle-m…

  • I was looking at getting this swing set which seemed a good deal at 10% off - such that 147 * .9 ~= $132

    http://www.harveynormanbigbuys.com.au/p/9745/plum-4-in-1-mul…

and then the oversize delivery charge of $65 kicks in… (for the 38kg item) which is essentially 50% of the price - which shoots the delivered price back up to $200.

Harvey Norman Big Buys has big shipping costs. If the delivery prices were a little more reasonable, I would have purchased. Apparently there is a store pickup option, but you cannot order online and choose pickup. You must visit the store in person and purchase. The nearest store to Brisbane for this big buy is Maroochydore - so essentially 100km away.

    http://www.bigw.com.au/help/delivery-charges-and-services-co…
BigW has for example a flat rate of $38 for oversize items, and $19 for each additional.
Harvey Big Buys on the other hand offers no discount for additional items.

    • Hi mshannon, sorry it took me so long to get back to you but I lost power over the weekend!

If you're in Brisbane and you can get to our Loganholme location (3892 Pacific Highway, take the Bryants Rd exit coming south on the Pacific) I've got one that you can purchase for the 10% off if you want to come in (I understand driving around Brisbane at the moment is probably a bit of a tough call).

In relation to the delivery charges, this box is big and it's heavy. Delivery charges are one of our biggest priorities to get right, unfortunately items like these are often just not delivered by some retailers that offer flat shipping. Thanks for taking the time to give such detailed feedback and I'll be passing it on!
