Happy with your purchase?
You'll need to speak up - he's still wearing them
No need to speak up. The benefit of these is you can hear your surroundings while using them.
They are excellent! I also got a pair of the OpenFit, which are also great.
I've got these one, many aliexpress cheap ones, the OG blitzwolf ones and various Lenovo and Xiaomi from ali express. The Lenovo and the latest pair of Xiaomi ones nearly rival the shokz in sound quality maybe up to 80-85% but gotta be lucky. Many fake ones over the years too. I have a bunch around the house as I tend to lose them. But indeed the shokz are the best in regards to size (Fits under a motorcycle and mountain bike full face helmet), sound quality is the peak and battery life is amazing. Very worthy purchase…
Got a link to the Lenovo and Xiaomi ones?
I use these everyday. AMA.
Beyond the obvious use cases, I found them excellent for travel as well, not on the plane (I use noise cancelling wf1000xm5s for those) but on trains when I needed to hear the announcements, and at attractions when I'm listening to audio guides, whether it's my own or paid audio guides + Bluetooth adaptor.
I also found them excellent for meetings as I can still hear the surrounding and ensure I'm not overly loud
It's an excellent walking, cycling, running companion as well.

Why is your avatar a potato?
Because I'm a potato 🥔
how's the mic quality for calls/meetings
I haven't had any complaints. I never felt I had to speak any louder than my normal talking voice either.
How do you get access to JB Commercial?
Good price! I picked up an orange pair from aliexpress for ~$205 after my OG Aftershoks broke. They sound very good!
is it genuine?
Great headphones but ideally the smaller size version (of this same headphone) would fit most people rather than these which are quite large.
They're not as good quality but there's a $15.59 aliexpress version. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005007582608533.html
Not sure how good these are but got one with 5 bucks with welcome back discount.
They do the job. I use mine for running quite a bit.
Thank you! This is the real winner of this post. Just wanted something casual!
Real deal is in the comments etc.
This looks nice, and they are xiaomi so must be decent.
Any review on how’s the microphone? Good enough to do official meetings or if one is walking in streets ?
I've got these and Shokz. These aren't as good quality but they're 9% of the price. The mic is okay, it's does the job.
Mainly Shokz wouldn't replace pair that developed the "rattle" outside of warranty and I wasn't prepared to drop another $200+ with a company that doesn't honour it's warranty or even Aus Consumer Law.
I dont think it is real Xiaomi as not available on the official website: https://www.mi.com/global/product-list/tws-earphones/tws-ear…
The same store MI-Smart has various Xiaomi Bone Conduction Earphones with different designs and prices on aliexpress
Xiaomi do market bone conduction headphones in China, but the style doesn't match any sold by MI-Smart.
https://www.mi.com/shop/buy/detail?product_id=21588
I still paid the money though - good enough reviews for something that's cheap and I just want to try out.
Ive tried a few alternatives but Shokz have been by far superior. I don't know about that model but i'm not hopeful based on past experience.
Hadn't shopped with AliExpress for a while and price came down to $1.5 (plus tax), so $3.5 total. Worth a try lol
THESE ARE GOOD. The best Xiaomi (Or fake Xiaomi) ones so far… Def a good choice to have as extras…
would these el cheapos be loud enough to listen to podcasts while travelling in a car at 110km? Missus won't: a. let me listen to podcasts at a loud volume b. wear headphones while driving c. drive herself.
damn they dont let you use gift cards
I've bought POLVCDG X16 from AliExpress and I'm happy.
I have never used shokz so can't compare.
The X16 are water proof IPX8 with 32gb intranasal storage.
I've bought the POLVCDG X7s from Aliexpress and I've been very impressed with them. I believe they're meant to be suitable for swimming, but haven't tested.
My only complaint is how they look, but they have been great otherwise. And at a fraction of the price of Shokz.
@bninja Do they come with their own nose or do you BYO?
Lol. Comment already replied to so can't edit.
I've been using the headset version of these with the mic boom for work. Very light, comfortable, good battery life and good enough for calls. Highly recommend them over buds/over hear headphones if you still want to hear your surroundings.
I second this.. use it daily with work. Everyone is stuck with the wired ones work issues. I just walk around while on calls to get myself a drink refill lol
What advantages do these have over any in ear headphones with transparency mode?
dont get wind noise and can be used with earplugs when working in noisy environments where noise cancellation doesnt give enough protection
I have some good transparency headphone and it is just different.
Having your ear closed despite passthrough doesn't give you (or at least me) proper spatial awareness, while the open ear trick means you have a better idea of what's on around you.
That said, if you have your music loud then I don't think it's gonna help much either !
They don't fall off your ears when running. Gave up my Google Buds the moment I got Shokz.
These headphones are amazing and bone conduction is cool but I find that they give me headaches after too long. Not sure if it's the vibrations on my inner ears or something. Also audio quality isn't great compared to closed ear but I guess that's not why we get them! Just something to be mindful of but they're a useful and lightweight type of headphone to have, I always have mine on me, at least nearby.
I found if I re-registered in the app as being in the USA I'd get an option called "Volume Boost" which made the audio quality for music so much better.
I only switch back to classic mode when in meetings in the office, for some reason the Volume Boost setting allows outside noise to flow through to others on the call.
The new release openfit2 is way better for travelling or if you need to hear announcements. I have a pair of airpod pro and i feel uncomfortable after wearing it for few hours but you can hang your openfit2 whole day.
FYI they are great, however these do not hold up well in humid environments such being near you when you have a shower or on a foggy morning, as the charging port cap can fail to stay closed from this point onwards.
I'm on my third pair under warranty and Shockz have no solution.
The previous magnetic charger design holds up pretty well in the elements. I guess that is potentially a downside of switching to USB-C. However, I think they just need to figure a better charging cap that doesn't continuously fall out.
I tested these in store recently and was pretty impressed by the pros. The no pros vibrated noticeably. Is this just a fit thing or is that a quality difference between models?
The pro2 has a an 'air conduction' driver as well which minimises vibrations
Good price, I paid $215 a couple of weeks ago.
I like them when I ride as they don't fall out or flop around like some other wireless earbuds. Sound is good enough. Podcasts can struggle if you are in a loud environment, e.g. riding next to the ring road made it hard to follow podcasts and audio-books, in this situation in-ear buds are superior.
You just position them onto your ear canal if it'll only get loud for brief moments but if it's loud for long periods that's why it came with earplugs
I have a set of Shokz OpenRun Pro and I must like them as I wear them all day every day.
However it's worth noting two negatives that might be a problem for some. The first is the earpiece has come away from the strap, I just push it back in and it stays but its days are numbered without some clever fix (glue or tape, I guess). The second is that while it can do multi-point pairing, if paired to two devices it cracks intermittently. Every day I open the app and disconnect the un-wanted device, of if it's another device besides my phone I turn my phone Bluetooth off while using it.
Just my 2c, had them a long time now.
What are these like in noisy conditions?
Do the microphones block out a lot of background noise?
I work in Mechanical Plant rooms, and having the people I'm calling to be able to hear me clearly is important.
My experience is that the microphone on these are quiet poor. I have noticed the sound on the other end fades in and out, sometimes completely inaudible. I would not recommend this if the quality of sound is important.
If you're a true bargainer you'd get OpenSwim Pro. Has IP68 waterproof (can swim with it), built in mp3 player go for run or swim without lugging a phone around, quick charge 9 minutes your good for 3 hours. I bought recently with Bing Lee for $30 you can extend warranty for 2 years that totals to 4 years on top of Shokz 2 year warranty. The new OpenRuns have sound leakage issue so if you're in a quiet room library or office the person next to you knows you're listening to Taylor Swift :)
EDIT: As a OZB'er I assume you bought for 199 at BingLee in July..Nice one!!
Best deal is 239/- at 99bikes. Anything better that you can recommend?
Yep that deal. I've done my research and looks like there's nothing out there that's as good as Shokz that's why they're not so competitive on price, there's a fake Xiaomi bone conduction one getting all the rave mainly on price point I think $13-$20USD but does the job comfort and decent sound wise… If you think you'll thrash it then get the cheap ones won't hurt if it breaks after a year. If you're after quality low profile look comfort and will be very careful with it (i.e. not jog with it out in the summer sun or leave it on the car dashboard because despite being made of nickel-titanium alloy the wraparound headband can go soft if exposed to heat often as well as the glue that bonds silicone wrap can come undone also) keep it in protective case etc.. then Shokz will serve you well.
Got it for 225 on ebay with their coupons. Looking forward to it!
Bought these last week and was going to post, but completely forgot :-)
