  • Damn! I have already put an order through this morning. Is there away to get this apply to my order?

    • Talk to Telstra ?

    • Just spoke to the chat and initially they weren't willing to give the extra $100 off since the preorder had already gone through. Escalated it and they ended up giving the additional discount as a bill credit.

      Hopefully this helps.

      • Used the chat. They cancelled the previous order. So, I placed another order.

Pretty dissapointing update with the 10 pro xl.. gpu is actually worse. Battery is the only notable part that is much better.

    As a p9pxl user, pass.

    • -6

extremely subjective and depends on what games you play

      • +3

relating to the GPU or the whole phone? Don't think it's very subjective.. quite objectively mediocre update, potentially the most minor update for all pixels to date.

        • But the Google advertisement says "Pixel’s biggest leap in performance yet", word for word.

Hahahaha. Not arguing with you but that's a big delta between what you're saying and what they're saying.

        • -1

only if you are fixated on benchmarks. Day to day use should see a decent improvement overall with less overheating

          • +1

@Kanjus: I guess we'll only know when it's available.. I expect it to sell poorly compared to the previous models (this is a subjective take)

Finally phones aren't going up by like 30% year on year.

As it is $1000 for a 6 inch phone is still rich, let alone $2k

  • can you do the cancel after first month trick ?

    • i am too looking at this cancel after first month trick, however it does say "Max discount of $500.04 when you stay connected for 12 months" (or 24/36 months). So going by that, I presume if you cancel your telstra service in the first month, the remaining 11 months won't receive the $50 discount on the phone repayments each month. I am wondering if anyone has every signed up to these telstra promotions and can confirm this.

  • Cancel after first month to pay the 748/11 per month isn't this the best deal posted so far?

    • +4

The $500 discount is spread across the 12 months as monthly credit.

Ozbargain community has helped me heaps before so want to give back. Just spoke to the chat and initially they weren't willing to give the extra $100 off since the preorder had already gone through. Escalated it and they ended up giving it as a bill credit.

    Hopefully this helps.

Bro, why U mad? Just say it subjectively without an emotional whinge. Have a good day 😀

Have had a 6 Pro, 8 Pro and 9 Pro Fold. Honestly never liked the 9 Pro Fold, but didn't want to go back to the 8 Pro, so I'm grabbing the 10 Pro XL.

    Lord have mercy on me.

    • +1

what did you not like about the 9 pro fold?
Is it because of the size? I'm having a dilemma if I should get the pro or pro xl

      • +3

I found out pretty quickly that I didn't care for the folding functionality, whereas initially I was very excited to finally get a folding phone as a Pixel fan.

I watched a lot of videos before purchase to determine whether I'd be okay with the camera being lower spec. The reviews I watched suggested it would be fine, in reality it wasn't. I enjoy photography and there was a noticeable decline in the quality between the 8 Pro and the 9 Pro Fold.

I thought that watching videos on the internal screen would be decently larger than watching on a regular phone in landscape. Because the internal screen is essentially a square, rather than a rectangle, the actual size of the video doesn't change much so that was disappointing too.

Finding an inexpensive phone case that protects the hinge was initially quite difficult. I eventually found one, but it really ruins the form factor. Whereas cases on slab phones don't do that as much. So I no longer like looking at, or holding the phone. It's nice without it, but it feels so fragile. I even dented the hinge a bit before I got a case that protects the hinge.

The phone itself is fine. No performance issues. Mainly just form factor and camera quality are my gripes.

        • I feel the same coming from the Fold 9 (RE Camera + Inner screen video)

It has made me a bit interested in the Z7 which has the full spec camera and larger inner display. I'm mostly optimistic for the tri-fold though, so you can get an actually decent inner screen ratio.

  • Can you cancel a preorder?

Deal says it expires on the 28th. I havent got time to go into a shop before then. But considering placing a preorder on an XL, then going to a shop over the next week.

Not sure its much of an upgrade over a Samsung S23+. Although im sure the camera would be, cos the samsung is shit.

  • Not sure how this is a deal, if you select 12 month + the essentials plan its, 200 dollars a month or is it skill issue on my behalf?

    • For me, it's a deal because I just added it onto my existing Telstra plan.
