Cheapest RTX 5090, I'm pretty sure. Don't know if it's worth the hassle of the warranty.

Can we go back in time to 2011-2013 where this 5090 would have cost $2200 AUD

    • +6

Agreed, doesn’t seem logical to pay more than $2K for a GPU that will be superseded in less than 2 years

      • +2

50 series vs 40 series vs 30 series might show a trend that it may just ve seded, nothing super until the Supers come out

      • Nvidia wants you to move into a paradigm where older generations of GPUs don't get cheaper when they get older. they stay the same price for the same compute power, and the new generation is proportionally more $$$ for more HRSPRS. you want a 50% faster 6090? (nice?) That'll cost you 6 grand buddy.

        • No one has been pushing the $/flop down, so no incentive for nivida to go cheaper.

Other than Intel, kinda, but they need to get more market and mindshare for that to matter.

    • +2

And groceries are half the price too ;(

    • Would you agree paying $2200 for 5090 but you can only play 2013 games and below? If not, bruh it's 2025 now. My barber is charging me $45 now from $10.

      • +2

Im talking about the FX exchange rate…. where the AUD to USD got up to 1.13 compared to today at 0.64

        • +2

That 1.13 was for the most briefest of times lol

        • I spent sooooooo much money importing stuff from the USA during that era. lmao

    • +2

4090 lowest recorded was 2700 to 2500 with credit back

      • +3

I got mine for $24xx with no cashback. Amuses me that I could sell it and make money on it. It’s stupid where prices are at rn.

    • +3

My Titan Xp (absolute top of the range) cost $1600 in 2017 on Day 1. Your figures for 2011-2013 are way off

      • +1

Not referring to price but the exchange rate between the AUD/USD.

        • +1

Ohhhh yeah I miss those days. We could've made bank of we exchanged money then and later in hindsight

      • Also the 5090 isn't a titan equivalent card, it's more cut down than the 1080ti was. The rtx pro 6000 is the equivalent card of today that costs ~12k.

    • Unfortunately we can only go back to 2015, when it would have cost IMEC millions of dollars to make a massive 5nm silicon chip in a lab…

  • +7

No, with the GST and delivery, totalling up to AUD 3900 using ebay conversion.
Not worth the hassle at all.

    • +1

Imagine if big daddy gov get their way and increase GST to 15%, then you can kiss 99% of purchases goodbye. Meanwhile the gas cartels and multinationals pay no royalty tax and the tax payer coughs up more

      • Would be just as good if the factors that suppress worker wages would ease up so all our wages increase, and decrease demand for property.

      • +6

Imagine having roads, housing infrastructure, medical care, and worthwhile education…

[Shakes fist] those government types taking our money for stuff!

      • +8

It's the teals that want to increase the GST not Labor

      • +2

No (half competent) federal government will ever touch gst.

John Howard only managed go get it through as everyone was having raging boners over surpluses, he made a deal that the states would receive every dollar of gst (hence state support for it), plus the mandate from heaven (large majority, so even a large hit to their vote share would still give libs another chance of being in power).

Without an alignment of the stars, increasing an tax in Australia is a dead wish (like just the idea of increasing tax on capital gains/wealth increases only on amounts over 3 million dollars from 15% to 30% is causing people to lose their minds)

Plus what's his face lost an easy election against Paul Keating due to wanting to implement GST

    Mine was cheaper

  • dang

  • +8

Warranty would be a nightmare do not buy

    • +4

And you need it for the 5090 and those power connectors

  • +4

Really need those 5080 Supers to come out for that 24GB VRAM sweet spot. Current market is so weird with the 5070ti 16GB vs 5080 16GB vs 5090 32GB.

    • Dont get too excited, the rumor is itll be 18g for the super

      • +3

        That would be 5070 Super.
5070 Ti Super and 5080 Super are rumoured 24GB.
I still don't see any value in the 5080 Super given how close 5070 Ti is.

  • Its cheaper than your posted price OP. Now its just $2095 in USD and $3450 approx in AUD including delivery

    • +1

It's sold out but I added up the fee's comes to $3,773.65, New Palit 5090's were selling for $3800 from Australia a few days ago, so not worth it.

  • For instant i misread as 2400

  • +1

That's a very high price to pay for a GPU with no local warranty support (GL when GPU burns up due to it's faulty connector design). Newegg warranty support sucks for US owners, so Aussie's should expect none…
