Good stone I like mine. I also got the strop and compound from the same company.

If you want info on sharpening check out OUTDOORS55 on YouTube. Great example of passion for his craft and/or weaponised autism

    • What strop does exactly plz? And which one should I get?

      • A strop is used to refine a blades edge after sharpening by taking out the burs.

        • whats wrong with burrs? Are burrs ridge ups and downs, or sideways imperfections, or both? I assume ups and downs kinda assist cutting…

@nuker: It'll be sharp initially but will quickly lose its sharpness compared to a stropped blade which removes the burr. Burrs are essentially folded-over metal which is why it'll lose it's sharpness sooner. You don't really even need to buy a leather strop. You could strop on an old belt, denim, cardboard or even newspaper. Stropping compound will give you the best edge but even that isn't necessary.

so, sideways imperfections? A bit of geometry clarification please :)

Anyone know if these are good to use for flattening a natural Whetstone?

    • this replaces natural whetstone, imho.

      • I understand some people might have that opinion, but I'm still keen to know if anyone here has been using theirs for flattening

I use an Atoma Diamond #600 for flattening my Shaptons which has been great. This looks to be similar dimensions.

Haven't had any gouging with the 600, not sure how you'd go with 325 grit.

    • I would like to know this too

Yes, I use mine for flattening

Still awaiting camels notification for $10 less than this XD

  • Is this all I need to sharpen kitchen knives and folders or do I need another stone in between?

    • You need a leather strop afterwards,
Like others have said, this dude on YouTube called OUTDOORS55 is why we're having this conversation in the first place, lol

A coarse diamond stone alone is sufficient to get an edge shaving-sharp with no extra steps needed - see https://scienceofsharp.com/2015/03/01/the-diamond-plate-prog…
I’ve tried this and it works.

After seeing all the great reviews for this I bought one half a year ago. Only used it a few times but I didn't have much luck - nothing was noticeably sharper. I was fairly particular with my angles and method but i assume I just need to git gud at it and practice more. Or maybe my knives aren't any good for it?

    • Or maybe my knives aren't any good for it?

      Maybe hands? ;)

      • There's a high chance you're right

    • Try running a marker line down the blade edge, you will then see if you are properly grinding an edge. Even my cheapest kitchen knives have a wicked edge. Watch Outdoor55 on YouTube on how to sharpen correctly.

      • Great advice, thanks! I watched a couple videos on how to sharpen but will give them a watch. Thanks again!

  • $82.99 with OCCAU5 (YMMV)

  • Add code HAPPY10 for $10 off! Just got one for $78!

    • HAPPY10 didn't work for me, but I was able to get "APPY10" by selecting under the product to buy it on the amazon APP for $10 off.

Came back to say it’s an amazing product. Leather strop is an essential addition
