    Compulsory Tipping

That just sounds like an additional $120 service charge they can't be bothered to pass on themselves.

2 of those dates are the same as the $888 deal 2 months ago, so a $111 increase is hardly a bargain.

    • 2 bottles of water per day is now 1 bottle

      • I think it just depends on the hotel you're at

    • +1

I know it sucks, they don`t get pay but the services charge will be their salary and shared among the driver and guides

      • Which person doesn't get paid? The coach driver or the tour guide?

    • wondering we need to pay for two? driver and guide? $120X2=$240??? If it's so, not a bargain!

      • Yes, you pay $12 pp each….so $240.

  • The positive review is for tripadeal, a different travel company.

    • That one includes daily massages

      • Probably had happy endings for such good reviews.

        • All satisfied five-star reviews

  • When is this tour making it out of the group chat?

    • One day when our annual leave balances align 😆

  • so basic 9 days

This deal is legit good. I did the tripadeal one. Super fun as a group. Just avoid any obvious sales pitch and you're fine.

    • How do you do that? I've heard they can get pretty aggressive if you don't go or buy things thry suggest

      • +1

That's like anywhere in SEA tbh. Unless they pull a gun to your head, you don't have to buy.

I went on a similar tour and didn't have any issues either. Most of the places we visit were fully/partly owned by government so it was more of the government trying to promote China to the tourists, not so much about making money. The more aggressive sale tactics were only in jade shop in Beijing. Not that they are scary, but they acted out things to make you think you are getting a great deal. Once they ask you to try things though, they can get a bit more pushy, but you can still back away. Personally though, I found it entertaining and learnt firsthand how good their sale tactics could be!

I did buy few things because I actually wanted them (like some chinese ointment and tea). Most things offered were legit, if you are really in the market for it. Except for jade, I don't think they are that precious :)

        • Also negotiating at the AP Plaza was fun. Had to walk away 3 times from the store but paying $20 per large totally genuine LV handbags was worth it.

          • @donman92: In Bali, wives of peasant farmers walk around with the same large totally genuine LV handbags balanced on their heads.

Why doesn’t the service provider holds the travel insurance. For delays should it not be a problem for the service provider to cover and rearrange.

  • I paid like $1500pp for return ticket to China off peak period before. 😁

  • As an alternative to AVG, Trip a Deal offers the same trip for the same price. The advantages of using Trip a Deal, are that:

    • Trip a Deal is owned by Qantas making your money more secure.

    • instead of $999, you can pay $249 + 50,000 QFF points

    • the single supplement is lower at $555.

    • Link pretty please?
