Recommendations for a Simple Calendar App on Windows

Hi all,

I am currently planning for year end holidays at the moment, it feels like I am a bit late doing that according everyone I talked to. Anyway, I found myself constantly scrolling through the months on the notification bar on my PC to see the day of the week and dates. ie. It is August now, but every time I want to see the December month dates, I need to click on the dates on the bottom right hand side of my monitor to show the notification bar and then click on the down arrow a few times to get to the December month.

I was going to switch to the Calendar app on Windows to see more than one month view but found it has been retired and is now rolled into Outlook. Does anyone have any recommendation for a simple Calendar app on Windows just to see the dates?

  • Outlook calendar

    • I tried looking at Outlook calendar, it only goes up to the month view, which isn't ideal when trying to see dates across 2 months. Thanks for the suggestion.

      • On the desktop version, in the left hand menu, RIGHT CLICK on the Calendar icon and choose OPEN IN NEW WINDOW.
You can open multiple instances of the calendar.

        • Wqs that available on windoews 10 aswell? I couldn't find it

  • I use a calendar template in Excel for planning holidays.

    • I have to admit, I am not a super organised person. I have seen people do this, planning their holidays in an Excel. I feel this would be useful once I have actual holiday dates.

      • It's easy to just changed the dates afterwards.

    • That looks identical to Google calendar.

Google Calendar? You can link others to share as long as they have a Gmail account.

Google Calendar is pretty good. Can sync with iOS too.

Ok, thanks. I think I have worked it out. My purpose for using the calendar is not so much to add events/appointments + sharing with other people, I just wanted to quickly see some dates with the day of the week across multiple months.

Your suggestion lead me to saving the year view in Google Calendar as a desktop app, I think this works well for me and is probably saving me some clicks every time I need to refer to the year/multiple months view quickly. Thanks.
