Unify has. an App store ?

    • +1

Not so much an app store … but a list of core apps you can opt install on the device based on your needs.

Wow that's a sharp price. Good find OP!

This is not an ATL but its pretty close

ATL is $463. It's ridiculous the pricing on these 5yo devices.

Unless you REALLY need the rack mount or the extra ports, just get the ucg-fibre these days.

Have been waiting years and finally went with the UCG-Fibre. Oh well

    • Still will do a great job. The UDM I think is only good if you want to use Unifi Protect or have a few more extra ports.

      • +1

If planning on Unfi Protect, I assume the UDM-SE is still the way to go (if under 5 or so cameras for the POE of the SE)?

        • +1

Potentially, yes it could be, depending on the price.

        • +1

Short answer… It depends. You may be better off with a ucg-fibre and separate POE switch, it mostly comes down to how you want to mount it IMHO.

          • @noisymime: UCG fiber and POE switch will likely come out to more expensive? And limits to smaller nvme SSD right? Whereas UDM SE allows all in one, and HDD.

Is there benefits/cons other than mounting that I’m not considering?

            • +1

@monkeytrooper: You'll easily get the UCG-fibre + something like a USW-Ultra for less than a UDM SE. Even without any sales you'll get that pair for about $700 vs the $900+ for a UDM SE. You also end up with more total ports and a faster router.

If you need more than 4TB of storage for protect, or you really want to go with a HDD, then yes the UDM SE might be the way to go as well.

    • +2

No oh well. The UCG-Fibre is the better product in every metric other than form factor. Honestly it's crazy that they don't sell the UCG-Fibre in a 1U chassis.

      • I guess that’s what the Pro Max is? I didn’t want to spend double so settled on the desktop form factor.

        • Even the UDM Pro Max is inferior in many respects. Older slower CPU, no POE, and only three super-fast ports. The Fibre has six super-fast ports.

The UDM Pro Max has some advantages, but they mostly don't matter if you're not running Protect.

i'm at the checkout .. price changed to $749 ?

I'm using one of these at home, bought it 5 years ago, and it's a great unit … but if I was buying right now I'd be buying one of the newer Ubiquiti units.

Keep in mind that when Ubiquiti products reach a certain age they downgrade the product status to "vintage", which means it only receives security updates and no new functionality updates. The next step after vintage is "legacy", and that's where all support ceases. I wouldn't be surprised to see this product going into the vintage line in the next couple of years.

If I was buying today I'd either buy the UDM Pro Max (rack mount and 2x 3.5" drive bays for surveillance) or Cloud Gateway Fibre (if you don't need rack mount and extended surveillance storage).
