If it don't matter, there's no matter.

P110M is the one with Matter

    • Is matter any good? havent seen any good reviews on it

  • Home assistant compatible ?

    • Yes

  • +15

FYI these are not the P110 model that has energy monitoring. Useful when you want to automate things like a dryer or other appliances as you can set triggers based on the power consumption

    3x P110M for $54 at Amazon

    • +1

mine comes to $50.40. thanks for the heads up.

    • +2

The power consumption feature is so handy. I used to have a plug that you put in how much you pay for electricity and it would give you a rough cost. Was just handy to know.

    • Thanks got the limit of 5 for $84.
Much better with the power usage.

    • what to trigger when based on dryer consumption ?

      • +1

A friend setup when power consumption drops low send yourself a notification that dyer has finished! If dryer in garage or somewhere where you cannot hear it?

    • I just got a 3x for $44 and arriving in 3 days.

Has anyone used this on an electric heater?

      • +1

works fine for me with an oil heater

        • Is your heater maybe 1.5kw or 2kw?

          • +1

@jianh: i use mine everyday on a 2.4kw heater, no issues

I was in Costco Ringwood last Saturday and they sell them for $30 in store.

    • Oh wow! I'm gonna head there tomorrow 😊

    • +1

I'd imagine the crossing out of the actual price was done by the store manager and not a customer……

Wouldn't be hard to take a black marker into the store and mess around with the pricing….

      • +1

:) Btw, I was surprised to see how many other items had their prices changed with marker in Ringwood. I haven’t seen price changes done like this in other Costcos in Victoria.
And no, it wasn’t a customer, as I bought this pack and paid $30.

I have 2 of these set up around the house but I can’t seem to put both on the app at the same time. Anyone know why?

    • Ask TP-Link?

  • +1

If you're not a Cosco member, ask a member to buy you a $50 Cosco gift card. They can be used by non-members, but you must use the full amount of the Shop Card in one transaction, so you'll lose 1 cent.

    • Add a roast chook and you get to use it all!
(And fork out a bit extra cash on top of course).

    • Is that new? I've never had to use the full amount in one transaction.

  • +1

Not $30 at North Lakes sadly.

  • +3

As mentioned above, they have 3 varients:
    P100 -> only on/off
P110 -> energy monitor as well
P110M -> same as P110 with matter support (not a big deal imo)

All can be added to HA locally through TPLink-Tapo in HACS.

If you want the month energy sensor to be availale on HA (without internet access) you need to have a local NTP server.

The advantage of these plugs is that they are narrow and you can fit two on a double gpo.
The disadvantage imo is that you're lucky if they last 2 years.

    • I haven't had any issues with them going bad,

another option would be plugs from Meross

    • I've had the Kapo ones running for around 4 years so far without issues. Tapo one only for around 1.5yrs, so will see.

  • Any recommendations for smart switches? I’m thinking to replace lights and fans wall switches to smart switches. Thanks

    • +1

have a look at the Shelly products

      • Second this - have the Shelly 2.5 relays at home and they are amazing and bulletproof. Plus it is easy to integrate with HA if you are into automation.

  • jumping on to this, any recommendations for smart switches which don't require a neutral? Thanks!

  • anyone use these with computer ?

    • what do you mean ? i got 1 of another brand to turn on / off to trigger auto power on of a computer
or do you mean using computer to turn the switch on / off ? you can run a android emulator

  • +2

Now I don't want to buy them unless they are $30.

  • Any high-amp options?

  • +2

Bunnings now $49.99 also when I checked this morning.

  • +1

Argh… bought these 4 for $58.96 from Amazon 2 weeks ago and even these are 52.49 currently! So far working well though with automation.
