I just swung by Bunnings and spotted padlocks for $3. Normally $27, finally, daylight robbery that’s actually legal!

Plenty in Bankstown, perfect if you need to lock up your dodgy mates or your eshay sneakers (Mod Edit: Only available in VIC). None in Werribee, guess they ran off with all the padlocks before I got there.

    Offtopic but does anyone recommend a small stainless steel padlock that's rated for outdoor use?

      Ive personally used this one for a few years:

      Its got a few quirks some people might not like (i.e. no spring in shackle, cant take key out if not locked) but its been outdoors for years and still seems to be holding up well in the rain. And thats really all i wanted it to do.

      I got it for $12 for bunnings in 2023. Looking back, i think it was a pricing error or clearance item, because nowhere has it near that price and its no longer sold by bunnings.

        Yeah I had a slightly different one (same brand) on the shed outside for at least 10 years and it only gave out because someone left the keys inside the shed and then locked the door.

        I will say that the 2 spanner technique worked to break the lock which is concerning but also, if they want to get in they will get in, no matter the lock.

      Someone put the decimal point in the wrong place even they where jacking the price from 27 up to 29.

        Abloy Protec 2 - these are the padlocks the local (SW Sydney) energy company uses on public power meters, breaker boxes in parks etc.

        In the entire world, you could probably count the people who can pick these on 1 hand, and I don't think anyone at all has ever picked one blind (i.e. without seeing the key).

      These are actually pretty hard to pick, LPL is lockpicking savant.

      Restrictive keyway, tight tolerances, 4 security pins all add up to a lock that's tough to pick even among lockpicking enthusiasts.

    Received an SMS saying due to high demand they're out of stock so they have cancelled my order.
    That's a weak excuse. If the item was out of stock, they wouldn't have been able to complete the purchase in the first place.

    Ordered yesterday from the Mentone store. Got a sms today from Paypal about the refund. No explanation from Bunnings.

    According to their site it was in stock at a number of stores. Pretty piss weak effort from Bunnings. Bit scammy.
