Good price for HeroQuest. Topcashback has 15% off for Toy and Games so you should be able to get a decent amount back. Currently 0% claimed.

I guess it should be noted that the price history below is pretty inaccurate at least with regards to some deals that have snuck through. It does seem like the ATL may have been $85? If you factor in cashback then I guess this deal would become the ATL.

HeroQuest is Milton Bradley's approach to a Dungeons & Dragons-style adventure game. One player acts as game master, revealing the maze-like dungeon piecemeal as the players wander. Up to four other players take on a character (wizard, elf, dwarf, or barbarian) and venture forth into dungeons on fantasy quests. This game was made in cooperation with Games Workshop Ltd. who designed the miniatures and helped in many of the production details including background world and art in the rule book and scenario book. The HeroQuest series consists of the main game and a number of expansions.

The game is played on a grid representing the interior of a dungeon or castle, with walls segmenting the grid into rooms and corridors. One player assumes the role of the evil wizard character (Zargon/Morcar), and uses a map taken from the game's quest book to determine how the quest is to be played. The map details the placement of monsters, artifacts, and doors, as well as the overall quest the other players are embarking upon. During a Hero's turn, the player can move before or after performing one of the following actions: attack, cast a spell, search for traps and secret doors, search for treasure.

The game ends when every player has either returned to the spiral staircase, exited by a door, or been killed by the evil wizard. If the objective of the quest has not been accomplished then the evil wizard character wins. Items collected during the quest may be kept for future quests. The quests usually form part of a longer story, especially the quests which are part of the expansion packs.

Additional material, which is generally missed since it is not technically an expansion, was published in the HeroQuest: Adventure Design Kit which did feature one more Heroquest adventure: A Plague of Zombies.

I know this is a huge discount and I get that it got popular after the 90's but comparatively this should be $50 at most.

I got Adventure Begins when it was on sale in 2022 for like $20 and play it with my kids and they love it. It does miss some of the exploration aspect of HQ but it's still a lot of fun for all and does cater well for younger ages.

I bought this for my nephews as I owned the OG I agree it probably should not cost more that $120 however all the pieces are much better quality and not that cheap plastic from the original game. I was surprised I still had fun playing it with them but house rules do not to be implemented to make it a bit more enjoyable

    • +2

For how much is in the box, quality and size (shelf space) there would be no margin for profit from sellers. As s1n1st3r12 said $120 would be fair.

    • +1

I played this as a kid but I'm a bit reluctant to buy it now, no matter what the discount is. Board games have come a long way since HeroQuest first came out. Maybe I'll end up buying it one day but it won't be me encouraging the purchase.

      • Wish I had your self control, I caved at the $85 but still havent played it. I have atleast opened the box and looked at the components which is better than most my other purchases.

        • +2

Self control is almost zero. I've just moved on to newer (and more expensive) games. Would not surprise me if I've got the most unplayed games around…

  • Great price, think cheapest was EB games at $85 but that hasn't delivered.

    • +1

I got the price from a previous deal's comment. Could be your comment?? Was that the first Cheap Tuesday? Those deals usually come down to luck in finding one to C&C as shipping can really kill those deals.

      • +1

Likely was, yes it was the 1st Cheap Tuesday. Most things sold pretty quick but the base Heroquest was pretty easy to get at the time I guess as most other games were $15-$40 it didn't sell as quick. 100% shipping killed most those deals.

don't forget 14% cashrewards on toys right now too!

  • It's $186.15 now :(

    • Available for back-order. Usually dispatched within 1 to 3 months

    • quick it's back

    • Still showing as $89 with 12% claimed for me

  • Man those dweebs would be sitting back watching the barbarian slay more than just monsters with his "broad sword"

  • +2

    The best thing about HeroQuest

    • WOW .. that guy is as old school as the game.. direct from the 1990's

  • Got it for $89, though couldn't do cashback - price was showing as double every time I clicked through from Top cashback at least.
Got First Light already for cheap and the Kellars keep expansion on its way for only $30 or so, going to need to actually start playing 😬

  • How does this compare to like a d and d starter set?

    • depends on what you want from it. it's fantastic by itself as a gateway, it';s also superb for pieces for using for D&D

  • +1

Mine arrived today!, WOOOOO, MOAR HEROQUEST!!
