        • +10

          Those are different speeds.

          Speed upgrades Faster upload speed
          500/50 250/100
          750/50 500/200
          1000/100 1000/400
    • +2

while its not as good on a pure price points vs say superloop @ $85 p/m (then $99 after 6 months) its by no means terrible

this option runs for 12 months and for some superloop may not be an option they like

      • +3

1000/50 (1000/100 soon) $85/m for 6 months ($109/m ongoing) @ Superloop is good if you don't mind less upload.

        When you compare 1000/400:

        ISP Price ABN Required?
Leaptel $135/month for 12 months ($145/month ongoing) No
Superloop $130/month for 6 months & Static IP ($145/month ongoing) Yes
        • Update: static IP address is included @ Leaptel.

OP. You must run a business or something, because of your need for (upload) speed. I still havent got FTTP. When entering my address at Leptel website, I would get:

    500/42 = $69.95 first 12months then $92.95
    880/42 = $89.00 first 12months then $114.00

    • +1

I don't run a business. I posted because some prefer faster upload speed.

500/50 and 1000/50 (1000/100 soon) means you have HFC. There is no free upgrade path for HFC to FTTP.

      • +2

I was on 1000/50 for the 50 upload. With new plans I can drop to 500/50, save some coin.
Leaptel service was been great, uch better than 2 sips before, for now I'll pay the premium for service and Comms.

Great price, but I think the comments above explain why some RSPs don't offer these speeds or hide them under a different section, a good chunk of customers just see the bigger price tag.

When you consider 1000/50 is going to 1000/100 for $99~ then $95 for 250/100 is solid.

I'm probably dreaming but here's hoping 2000/200 is $119 (based off Leap offering 500/200 for $115)

    • +2

      Yeah exactly right.

2000/200 FTTP is $115/m wholesale from nbn. I reckon at least $150/m retail.

      • +2

Yeah you're probably right, my network is ready for multi-gig but not sure if my wallet is ;)

  • Do they have any mobile app ?

    • No mobile app.

  • Will these plans recieve any speed changes come september?

    • +1

No, existing customers on these faster upload speeds get the new ongoing price.

There are changes to these speeds:

      Old Speed New Speed
      100/20 500/50
      250/25 750/50
      1000/50 1000/100
      • What date will this come into effect. Do you know what the price of the 2000/200 will be?

        • The new speeds in the table and 2000/200 is mid next month. nbn have to install a new 2.5GbE FTTP NTD.

2000/200 FTTP is $115/m wholesale from nbn. I reckon at least $150/m retail.

if you use internet for regular browsing and dont care about CGNAT , exetel offer 500/50 Mbps for 80$

    • 500/50 is for a different target audience.

  • +1

I got an email from them that existing customers will get the speed upgrades at no additional cost.

    Current speed: 100Mbps / 20Mbps
    New speed: 500Mbps / 50Mbps

    Current monthly price $90.

    • 500/50 will be good for most users. It depends on your use case if you need more upload.

  • are there others providers that also dp highes uploads? Its really hard to find information on higher upload speeds.

    • Aussie BB, Neptune and Launtel. No ABN.

      Superloop with an ABN.

What speed plan do you want? Home or business use?

      • +1

I just want the most resonable plan with higher uploads. I find most people dont really understand the value of higher uploads. Currently on a 100/40

        • 1000/100 will be available mid September for about $99/m ongoing or less with a deal.

Otherwise jump on this Leaptel deal or Aussie BB.

  • I only ever churn between leaptel, ABB and launtel. Always get crap service or speeds with everyone else

    • Any experience with Buddy?

  • Mods,

given deluge of changes for NBN ISP's from 15/9, is it worth it's own category, (a bit like Black Friday?).

Or just refer to the WP Wiki https://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/nbn_highspeed_plans, which says updated April 2025, (but shows Exetel $80 pm 500 / 50, which I've just switched to, which I think came after April?)

    • I doubt the mods will make an nbn event page.

All nbn deals are tagged under nbn.

  • cries in HFC

    • +1

The upload isn't as close however 250/100 and 1000/100 is coming to HFC.
