[VIC] 4-Container Meal Pack (~2 Serves) 5 Packs/Week for $90 ($18/Pack) + $5 Delivery ($0 C&C) @ Mixed Rice King, Glen Waverley

740

Found a great value meal delivery deal from a restaurant on Kingsway in Glen Waverley. The offer is for a 4-container meal pack. New dishes every day — no decisions required. Contains

  • 2 x 500ml protein
  • 1 x 500ml vegetable/tofu/egg
  • 1 x 500ml rice

The price is $18 per pack on the condition that you order a minimum of 5 packs for the week (totaling $90). The price per pack is slightly higher if you order fewer than 5.

I've been getting this for the last two weeks and it's easily enough for two meals (dinner and lunch), which works out to be just $9 per meal. They charge a flat $5 for delivery. The food is really good quality and amazing value.

They deliver to the following suburbs:

Balwyn, Balwyn North, Bayswater North, Blackburn, Blackburn North, Blackburn South, Box Hill, Box Hill North, Box Hill South, Burwood, Burwood East, Camberwell, Canterbury, Clayton, Clayton South, Doncaster, Doncaster East, Donvale, Ferntree Gully, Forest Hill, Glen Waverley, Hawthorn, Hawthorn East, Kew, Keysborough, Knoxfield, Mitcham, Mont Albert, Mont Albert North, Mount Waverley, Mulgrave, Noble Park, Noble Park North, Nunawading, Oakleigh, Oakleigh East, Rowville, Scoresby, Springvale, Springvale South, Surrey Hills, Templestowe, Templestowe Lower, Vermont, Vermont South, Wantirna, and Wantirna South.

  • Is the food delivered hot or cold?

Is the larger one for $30 worth the extra?

    • +5

most likely cold because its Victoria :D

    • more likely cooked in bulk and frozen?, and thawed in morning before shipping out.

  • Do we have anything like this in west Sydney 😂

  • I didn't realise this place was open again!

    • +2

Hope they do the roast meat specials again

  • Do you get any choice on the meals, e.g. choice of protein…etc.? Or is it just luck of the draw on the day?

    • probably whatever the daily special is

    • You don't get to choose. Changes every day.

Not great reviews on Google. Got a $20 voucher to use there during this year’s Glen Lunar Festival but the shop appeared shut down/ not operating for the period after and was unable to use it. They probably were given funding from the council as support for local businesses to distribute these vouchers from the train works but did not fulfill the value of the vouchers. Sounds dodgy if they have now conveniently reopened.

  • is it daily delivery?

  • Is there something similar in sydney? Want to get something similar next year when I move to somewhere else

There's 2 parts of their business - the catering/food delivery and their actual restaurant where it used to be ~$18 for all you can eat.
IIRC the catering part(which is this deal) has always remained open while their restaurant has closed down from what I saw last week.

I tried their catering around 2 years ago, it was decent but the food was a little bland. Not sure if they changed chefs yet.

If you want an all you can eat restaurant there's a chinese one a few doors away, they went from a grilled fish restaurant to an all you can eat. Name is Lucky Table Buffet.

Also Tang a few doors away has very good dishes at very reasonable prices. Highly recommend their xiao long bao and scallion pancake.

Also Tang a few doors away has very good dishes at very reasonable prices. Highly recommend their xiao long bao and scallion pancake

Second the scallion pancake at Tang- one of the best I've had!

    • Nan Yang Kopitiam too… They still have $10 plates?

      • Yes $10 plates still there, value for money !!!

  • Thanks, ordered a large pack $35 delivered

  • +2

Is this a deal or just standard pricing?

    • +4

It's pretty standard take out pricing to me

      • +1

Be lucky to get one of the containers for $18 near me let alone 3 and a rice.

  • +4

    Sorry what's the deal?

This is the same as ordering 4 take outs

    • -3

Seems pretty good when you consider one of these boxes is already 25$ on uber eats (box of meat)

      • +3

Uber eats is always 30-50% more than the real price though..

        • was just an example, because how else are you getting it delivered, not many if any restaurants have their own delivery drivers.

@Drakesy i didn't know your local chinese did 3x takeaway boxes + rice for $18

          • +1

            @BoomTetrisForJeff: Ahh I gotchya now

            Was confused by the wording

So in total it's 20 boxes of food for $90 a week

            • @Drakesy: yeah $90 + $25 if delivered (5$ per delivery) not too bad if food quality is ok

    • +1

Sorry where are you getting 4 x 500ml boxes of Chinese food for $23 delivered?

  • +1

Is delivery $5 each time if delivered daily? So essentially $18 + $5. Can you specify delivery time? 2-6pm is huge window time.

    • It's $5 per day for delivery so if you ordered 5 days the fee would be $25 on top of the food price. You can choose to pick up from store in GW which is free. I have used their service on and off for a few years now. They always delivered in the afternoon.

Just looks like the end of day leftovers from an Asian build your own meal places

    • Yeah, agreed. Whilst I enjoy a "fried rice with 3 choices" meal from time to time, it definitely wouldn't be what I would want to eat every day. That amount of oil seriously can't be good for you.

Need this in the west side too

What happened to presumed guilty before innocent…? Lol.
We're all adults here. They can say if they or not. To join and then post straight away while doing nothing else is suspect. But as long as you think they dont appear to be, thats all that matters right…

Yup, reported, now waiting for the report.

        • Sorry, I should have meant in future, please report any comments, posts etc. This has been investigated already.

Does anyone know of a similar service in Brisbane?

    • Would be interested in that as well.

  • didnt know they deliver to my suburb now.

Hows the food quality as in taste wise ?

  • +1

How is $18/meal a deal? Am I missing something. Also doesn’t look two serves to me. I would consider a meal deal if it was $6-$9. If I was paying $18 i would just buy from any Indian restaurant any meal on their menu.

    • If you can eat 1L protein, 500ml vegie and 500ml rice in one meal. You better off cooking youself.

  • Looks like a good deal to freeze for the week. Just depends if it is actually good or generic Asian food court style.

  • Ordered these for the wife last night. Got delivered today. Food looks fine but all 5 meals are the same, I was expecting some variety. I did specify no seafood though so maybe that limited the options.

    • so what did you get? im thinking about getting some

      • Looks like in each pack it’s a couple of soy drumsticks, a container of honey chicken, some chopped green vegetable in sauce (I don’t know the name of it but it’s common in Chinese dishes) and the rice.

If you’re happy to have the same meal each day it’s probably solid value.
