I don't use super often, but have tried both of these, re taste…

    Cherry blossoms & peach = 4/10

    Smart rinse, kids = 9/10

    • i heard people can get wasted off this with a few tweak and addtional ingrediencies its moon shine with fresh breath boys!! Never smell like you have been drinking ever again!!

        off the Alcohol-free one?

      • Do these mouthwashes kill off the useful, good bacteria as well as the bad?

  • +1

It doesn't contain fluoride so what ingredient actually kills germs?

    • +9

Just an FYI, Fluoride doesn't kill germs.

      • You don't need to "kill germs" in your mouth

    • Not sure of all the ingredients but Eucalyptol and Thymol do

  • +1

I avoid the alcohol free versions, don't work as well

    • +1

Alcohol versions are terrible for you.

    • +7

I believe there are strong links between mouthwashes with alcohol and mouth cancer.

    • If you want to avoid alcohol free, don't want damaged gums and increased mouth cancer risk, you can fork out and use peroxyl.

Easily the best, and makes mouth ulcers vanish in no time.

      Wish it was cheaper

Weird how people think these sort of products are good for health, not. Hint, this isn't the only category.

  • Why are they still selling this? Everyone knows it's bad for you, like really bad.

    • +4

Is it all mouthwashes or ones just described as antibacterial?

(not sure why down voted, genuine question…)

      • +1

The more they "work", the worse they are.

Reminder that these are garbage and net negative.

    1) if they have alcohol they're bad for you and probably increase risk of oral cancer.

    2) if they don't, they're less (but still) bad for you.

Either way you're nuking good bacteria in your mouth, and washing away the toothpaste (which you actually want to leave on your teeth after brushing and not rinse away, either with water or these garbage products).

This only exists because the marketing works, not because any dentist recommends it. They recommend against it.

These are a much better alternative and the taste is a good strong peppermint.

    • What ingredients in the non-alcohol one are you concerned with? Is it CPC killing good bacteria or the Menthol/Thymol/Eucalyptol?

There's also one that has neutral PH, fluoride, no alcohol (but contains CPC)

      • Anything which is antimicrobial or antibacterial cannot spare good bacteria.

If it is more potent than water, it is net negative.

I recently found this out and was quite shocked, I've been rinsing out my mouth with water after brushing my teeth my whole life.

      • Don't feel bad, I did that for decades before I learnt.

    • The sensodyne one has fluoride in it so is probably not as bad so long as you don’t rinse it out after

      • +1

Just brush with fluoride toothpaste (and don't rinse). All the upsides (and more), no downsides.

    • Surely occasional use should be fine? Like when rushing out and you realise you haven’t pasted for a while.

      • Maybe in that case, but better to have good habits. Brush and floss before bed, and try to brush after eating some time during the day.

    • +1

I agree. My dentist recently told me to better not use it. Save your money!

The alcohol is what helps to kill the bacteria, the non alcohol versions are actually not very good at providing the same effect at killing germs. Either buy the alcohol version or don't use it.. Non alcohol is a waste of money.. You think if it didn't need to have alcohol, they would just have a non alcohol version? Think about it.

    • Nope both still work.

Alcohol targets all bacteria indiscriminately whilst non alcohol uses a targeted approach via Cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC) or Essential oils (Menthol/Thymol/Eucalyptol) which have been studied and known to kill plaque causing bacteria, particularly the main culprit S. Mutans

      • Didn't say it wouldn't work, I said, it doesn't work as well. You think if non alcohol version was superior, they would keep spending money on alcohol in the production of it? LOL

    • They still sell the alcohol versions for the ignorant people out there who think alcohol containing is better

      • Yes, because why wouldn't a company keep spending money on an alcohol version which apparently to you is not better, all because some people like the alcohol? Do you hear yourself? lol

  • Rob would never recommend this

  • I would simply just buy Therabreath. Tried many different mouthwash, and none seem to work as well as Therabreath. Dentist is happy with it too & recommended it.

  • I ordered and then checked the comments saying how terrible these are.
    Now cancelled.
