Stanley 20-Piece Acetate Screwdriver Set $28.80 + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store/ OnePass) @ Bunnings

470

Down from $50, comes with a good mix of sizes and a small set of very small (precision) screw drivers.

Cheaper than elsewhere, but there are slightly different sets available at slightly higher price points at other retailers which might suit your needs better.

I have a 20 year old set, still going strong but missing a few pieces, buying this set was cheaper than purchasing individual replacements.

Copy/paste from Bunnings…

If you don't need a case i would see supercheap one better value. https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/toolpro-toolpro-screwdri…

    • Quality?

      • They are okay. I've been a of the smaller flat head screw drivers. The bigger stuff seems great, but some of them are pretty average. The kit is good value at its current half price. I wouldn't pay full price.

Toolpro is trash, i bought one of these stanley sets and still as good as new 20 years later.

Agreed the Toolpro set is made of cheese.

      • I have both, the Stanley set is around 10 years old now. All of my larger stanley flats have chipped and most of the phillips heads are gouged to the point that they cam out now. The Toolpro set is okay, haven't had any issues with it yet, but have only owned them for a few years.

        Guessing Stanley's quality has fallen.

My favourite one at the moment is a wood handled Vessel from Japan that I somehow came across.

    • Nice find, picked one up for the indoor office

  • Good find, I might have to upgrade my old 10 piece Stanley mono-coloured cushion grip kit to this.. which I also recall paying $29 for. Inflation buster!

I bought this set originally back somewhere around 1979.Back then is had 2 pieces no longer included. One was the largest yellow handled one with the steel running all the way through the handle and the other one had a blue handle and a square shaft and it was too big to use as a screwdriver but made a great lever. I used to use it to tension my fan belt.

    • Thats right! I remember those too, the "full tang" so you could hit the handle with a hammer, and that massive blue one. Despite the abuse, I haven't damaged my set yet (only lost pieces).

    • Yeh i have that yellow steel flathead. I don't think I've ever used it for anything to do with screwing/unscrewing. Everytime I pick it up I think this is a fantastic weapon.

  • I've bought this set at least 3 years ago at the about the similar price.
always just use them for household stuff (installing flat packs, etc.), can't fault them.

    • Stanley drivers are good. People here busy paying too much for german stuff imo.

  • Thanks OP, got one for nostalgia's sake. I have one of these Trojan sets, the drivers seem tough enough but the case is very annoying https://www.bunnings.com.au/trojan-13-piece-screwdriver-set_…

    • Cheers.
Not sure if the Stanley is substantially better, I did need to modify mine when the hinge wore out a while back. The tools themselves are great though even after 20 years.

  • Last couple of sets I bought were (im pretty sure) made out of some type of hard cheese. They're absolutely garbage. If you're looking for a good cheap set, the Aldi VDE ones are top notch for the money.

I still have a 1970's Stanley set (the one with the massive flathead for the old timers) and its new like the day I bought it. These new sets, look the same, but are useless.

  • Im Hooked on repco branded tools.

Delivered by the snapon truck, in snapon boxes, and since theyre laser etched, when one breaks, just telling the staff "im swapping this…" Is never an issue.

    Gotta love lifetime warranty.

    • you mean the mechpro stuff? or actual repco stuff? can you link an example? thanks

you sure its snapon? i thought they had licensed the tool making to sidchrome?

      • Actual repco branded tools.

Its just a theory, because my partner has worked at repco for over 20 years, and repco branded tools arrive in snapon boxes on snapon shipments; they dont claim to be made by them, its just a logical guess.

  • Any recommendation with tools set? Not too expensive, just for home use.

  • Bought one like that a few years ago, it was on special at Bunnings, and still looking good.

  • Have the same set from Bunnings, paid $27.90 in 2010, still good as new.

Amazing 15 years later price only went up 90 cents.

  • It's a deal at $50 🥲
