Free to Stream: F1 Qualifying & Practice (Account Required) @ Kayo Sports

910

The Formula 1 season resumes tonight, & you can watch all the practice sessions + qualifying for free! (Kayo account rq'd, but no active subscription needed)

I was completely unaware of this, till a few races back… the only deal referencing this was 3 yrs ago.
Hopefully a helpful PSA for those keen to watch :) (Come on Piastri!)

The F1 season resumes this weekend with the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort; Oscar Piastri leads Lando Norris by nine points in the title battle, but it's the Brit who had the edge before the break as he won three of the last four races.

Yep - Kayo Freebies has the 30 minute Mini replay of each race, as well as showing both the live and full replays of all sprint races, qualifying and practices (all in 1080p / 50fps).

    • +1

Thanks, I didn't know about the 30 min replay. How delayed is it, and is it possible to get to it in the menu without spoilers?

      • +3

From memory, the mini replay comes out within an hour or two of the race finishing, and you can navigate to it and watch without spoilers.

    • +4

No way in hell that doesn't fall over like a drunk once a race starts

    • is this stuff trustworthy ?

    • I would not trust that at all, despite what Troy says…

  • +1

I thought it cost money to have a Kayo account?

    • +3

You just need log in details, not an active subscription for this :)

    • +16

What? The point is to upsell new customers. It isn’t here for free accidentally.

    • +8

Kayo took forever to bring in 4k, and despite promising F1TV features have absolutely refused to allow that in our region (onboards, etc). Despite repeatedly promising to. They also still refuse to allow 4k on any sort of desktop / pc browser, apps only. Then they wonder why anyone with a brain is sailing the high seas.

I'd gladly pay them if they just provided the full service .

    • This is one of the funnier false alarms I've ever seen! 😂

  • +3

it's not just F1 they have quite a lot of free content covering different sports

  • +9

This is actually pretty good cause the race is on at like some crazy time most days so I don't really care about watching it live all that often. F1 is pretty much all I watch on Kayo so it's hard to justify paying for it for like 8 hours of races where….let's be honest, it's 50/50 whether It will be a snoozefest.

You can also get a month of Kayo Premium for $1 for new sign ups (will require new phone number, like this one for $1 delivered). You can get a further month by having the transactions on a debit card with insufficient funds like something from Revolut. 2 months for $2, not bad.

    • Couple with the Telstra $1 sim. Perfect free kayo

      • +1

        That's what I linked…

    • +2

They make it very hard to unsub. Im doing a chargeback

      • +1

Yep Kayo are scum, I refuse to pay even a dollar to them now…

I had a subscription charged before the final day had ended. I even canceled my sub before it was charged, but apparently I was canceling 2 months in advance, whilst the current months sub hadn't even concluded, or next month started [go figure…]

Their customer 'service' then refused to refund after calling literally minutes after the pending payment was made with a cancellation to the sub.

They have some complete BS rule where they have their own deffiniton of a month, and chose to subtract a day off when you pay on the 31st or something…. Went from a great 1 dollar month offer, to $40 down the drain… Cancel straight away, as it doesn't terminate the sub immediately for anyone reading :)

[edit - and their cancellation process is so intentionally confusing compared to every other company + shouldn't be legal. from memory, you have have to literally order the cancellation or something, which is very counterintuitive… ]

        • did you get in contact w support for a refund

          • @AeymothSky: Yes, contacted them immediately after the charge, also had the sub cancelation email timestamped before any payment. Basically, bad luck…

Also not sure who negged my comment above, but I dont see how getting charged a day less than usual after also cancelling, before the charge, is a fair thing?

            • +1

              @OutOfTime: boo no way.

most companies i contact after early charge i get money back.

It's been ages since that's happened tho but yeh seems typical of kayo considering they're owned or was foxtel

              • @AeymothSky: Found the policy that I was told:

Note: If the date doesn't exist within that month (eg. Sept 31), the billing date will be brought forward to the Sept 30.

The fact Kayo can legally make this policy is stupid. It should be billed exactly 30d ays x 24hrs after the 1st payment.
Subtracting a missing day is insane….

      • +3

Yeah, that's when I first noticed this: end of last year I tried to unsub and couldn't, got caught in a Hubbl loop. Instead I changed my payment details to a Revolut card.

    • Definitely be careful with this!

I attempted this "hack" from the $1 first month Kayo deal.

I used a single use Bankwest virtual card and at first when they attempted to direct debit it failed. I usually only have a few dollars in this account. Even though I had insufficient funds, they somehow managed to successfully direct debit the 2nd month when they attempted again about 2 weeks after their first attempt. So insufficient funds and a single use virtual card didn't stop it!

I went from $1 first month Kayo, to being bent over with $41 for two months. Needless to say, I've since cancelled. The cancellation process and tracking it is a PITA itself.

      Kayo = 1
      Me = 0

      • +1

They were able to charge a card with limited credit ? Doesn't this defeat the purpose of a limited value credit card? Never had to issue using revolut capped cards… weird.

        • Yeah, might got to do with the Finance Institute. I guess Bankwest allows your account to go into overdraw. I spotted my Bankwest account in negative when I was looking at the account transaction. I then realised these Kayo mf's were able to successfully direct debit my account. Luckily, I wasn't hit with an overdraw fee.

What got me wondering still, Kayo failed the first attempt, and I was thinking great the single use card worked. Essentially the details of the single use virtual card should no longer exist. But somehow Kayo was able to transact 2 weeks after the failed attempt.

I'm not going to lose sleep over $40. My mistake for trying to be smart. Lesson learned.

so is the next step to use one of those coles mc that has afew cents on it to sign up for a trial?

    • Shhhhhhh

    • And then you forget next month cos you were busy and bam, $40! 🤯

      • Can't charge me $40 if there's no funds in the account. Kayo also auto cancels the sub after 4 weeks of failed transactions.

  • Qualifying and race highlights are all you need for F1

  • +1

should do the motogp… annoying now free to air doesnt play the race, but free practice & qualifying would be nice.

  • +2

Monaco race organisers hate this 1 trick.

  • +2

You can also watch all the races and qualifying in replay here: https://watchf1full.com/ They're uploaded fairly quickly after the end of a race. Like for European races, they're always up when I wake up at 7am on Monday. Adblock is recommended for a better experience.

Is this literally just a piracy site? lol

      • you forgetting what site youre on?

  • +1

Just get a vpn. Change country to germany/luxembourg and you can view their local network tv streams for free (You will have to google how, its easy). The commentary wont be in english but you can pull up a youtube feed with live timings with english commentary to go over the top. Or just get kayo and watch it in garbage 480p if it even lets you connect to the stream. Locked me out of quali earlier in the year, im still subbed but i hate that its our only local option and the price is ridiculous

    • Get a firestick and get sports fire.

    • +2

??? We have Piastri in a 2 man championship race for the title, who could become the first Australian champion since Alan Jones in 1980. Wake up!

There's plenty better places than Kayo to watch F1.
