For those paying in USD this is how you get the correct exchange rate in PayPal:

Setting overseas websites to AUD or letting PayPal do the currency conversion results in an inflated rate. To get the correct rate you need a card without international fees and do the following:

  • Set the website currency to USD
  • Checkout with PayPal
  • Select your card with no international fees
  • Click "See currency options"
  • Select USD to bill the card in USD instead of AUD
  • Proceed with checkout

Now you'll get the correct MasterCard or VISA exchange rate.

Don't forget to use you Cashback / stream credits before they expire

    • how to see

for some reason i see US$21 shopping credit but if i check my cashback area i Don't see anything

      • Oh, that -is- your cashback. If you tap on the credits in the app, you can see the history and where they're from ( + ones you have pending)

Can you arrange for another amd 7700 deal please 😅

    • Pretty please.

    • Very keen on another AMD 7700 deal.

    • +2

If Ali decide to include Big Save in this sale I should be able to organise something.

      • Would be very keen on ryzen 5 AM5 as a more budget friendly alternative

Tip: You can trigger higher Coin discounts by adding ?sourceType=620 after the .html in any full AliExpress product URL. Thanks for sharing the tip but will this void the TopCashback/Cashrewards/Shopback cashback?

    • +3

Yeah since it requires editing the URL. It's good for stuff that doesn't track with cashback, and note that it doesn't work for all products.

    • Couldn't you just edit the html on the page and/or use a userscript before you navigate and then the referrer remains intact?

      • @Clear What do you think about this?

  • +1

Aliexpress is being one of those places that has "sales" 90% of the time …these 3 days to the end of the month being the only normal days so they have something to compare to when they have another sale.

    • +1

They have a mix of small sales at the start/end of the month and much larger sales every couple of months. For example in April and May I posted like 20 deals total since there were no major sales. While this month I posted about 40 deals since they had a major sitewide sale going for weeks and were much more generous on discounts.

  • Have been looking for 5700x, but looks like prices are quite high now.

  • What's the biggest sale of the year?

    • +3

      March anniversary and black friday

      • To me it seems that all the sitewide sales are pretty similar in pricing, don't have the numbers but that's my observations over the last few years.

        • Coins are the trick.

          • +1

@Clear: Got 10,000+ coins - is there a guide to using them? Or the discount just show on app?

I've only realised recently that Ali Express is all about stacking coupons, cashbacks, and sales 🙉

              • @Clear: Thanks 👍 I can't believe I've missed that the whole time I've used the app 😂

              • @Clear: I’ve also not noticed this. The price after benefit is sometimes higher than the coins I’ve collected? If I purchase with the coins discount can these other coupons be added? Thanks.

I have a bit of trouble with Aliexpress randomly cancelling my orders due to "late shipping" especially when I use discount codes or when it was have some sort of discount on it.
Hope fully this one won't get cancelled again.

    • Very rare for me, maybe one in 100. I don’t think I’ve had any Choice orders cancelled

    • This sometimes happens when the seller offers free shipping and then finds out how much that's actually going to cost them.

    • Happened to me last sale where they cancelled my order after 2 days. Explanation given by Ali customer service was "The logistics company couldn't deliver on time" or something like that. Doesn't make any sense as it wasn't even shipped, so I feel they cancelled due to the heavy discount. Going to order again as the price is similar this sale, and this time will message them and say I want it shipped and not to cancel. If they do cancel I'll report them for cancelling multiple orders.

    • Just ordered mine again. Went onto Ali Express chat and told them not to cancel even if shipping is going to take longer, I just prefer to get the item at some point. They told me that cancellation is done automatically by the system after a period of time, and to go into the order details and "Extend Delivery Date" which I did for 60 days. They also were able to "urge delivery" which they said puts a priority on it.

Have no idea if any of that is true or makes a difference, but might be worth giving a go.

  • Can someone recommend a mini pc for my wife? No gaming just some office stuff and watching Netflix

Hope Topcashback brings us an upsize 🤞🏽

  • Anyone else get batteries blocked by customs? I ordered two panasonic 18650's in a parcel of 20 odd things and those two were singled out and removed. Aliexpress were no help as they wanted proof but I all I had was photo of empty box.

    • I received a pack of cr2032 batteries a couple of weeks ago, a compressor with built in battery last week, and two Sofirn torches with batteries today.
      Did your parcel look opened/resealed?

      • I honestly didnt pay attention before I took My own knife to it,, but there was definitely no obvious signs of resealing. Might try one more time as a test.

  • Don't expect to actually save anywhere near the amounts listed.

They are as good as all the other sites that "jack" their prices before a "sale"… Except for some reason Ali express seems to get a pass… Probably just because they make it so convoluted to actually see what your final total cost will be.

Had 3 items in my cart yesterday that was totaling like $32.50, didn't really need them urgently so I figured why not I'll just wait till tomorrow to save the $3… Did I pay $29.50 today?… No mysteriously my total came to $31.70, after my $3 "discount"… wow, what a saving.

    • +1

Except for some reason Ali express seems to get a pass…

AliExpress is a marketplace and AliExpress staff don't set the prices. The individual stores set the prices. If you don't like it, shop elsewhere. Perhaps locally?

Also if you're complaining about pricing make sure you're not talking about AUD. AliExpress trade in USD and that won't fluctuate, unlike AUD where it goes up and down a few times a day.

      • -1

You don't have to get all butthurt defending your precious Ali express mate, you seem to have some links there.

"If you don't like it go shop elsewhere" 🙄 yeah righto mate…

I understand Ali express is a marketplace, but what I have posted is not some weird exception to the rule, it is the rule, basically everytime I've seen one of these sales I've never actually saved anywhere near the amounts listed, it's always jack first, save a small percentage after, maybe.

        • +2

If you don't want a reply from me then perhaps negging my deal isn't the best idea?

    • Thats probably the tax they add on, hardly their fault for charging taxes.

      • No, it's not the tax.

I'm comparing apples with apples, the final price yesterday to the final price today.

  • This coupon code is for single use only

    What does this mean?

    • +1

Often means it's not a valid code. Sometimes they change the discounts last minute - which code?

      • Thanks Clear. I tried a different coupon ad it worked.

  • Tip: You can trigger higher Coin discounts by adding ?sourceType=620 after the .html in any full AliExpress product URL.

@Clear can't seem to get this to do anything… As soon as I open the link in a browser it goes from then 42% down to bugger all. Also when adding these. To a cart with other items it drops to a couple $'s

What am I doing so wrong?

    • Not everything is eligible. The Coin section in the app is where it's really at.

      • That's what I'm using…. How do I make that happen exactly? Is it only 1 item/cart at a time?
Cuz when I checked out 2 days ago, id added a number of items from the coin page - come checkout $2.18 coins used. Never quite figured it out ….

        • You have to buy from the Coins section so you can't load up a cart and get the big discount.

          • @Clear: So direct purchase of a single item?
Nk way to buffer that order over the $15 mark because for small single unit items,I'm paying $0.01 so do I just suck up the shipping charge in such instance

            • @parad0x: Items in the coin section, you can add it to cart and it will often keep the coins discount. I often do a search on the main page then either view the item of add it to cart. Then use the discount finder and check my history of items I viewed to see if there are extra coin discounts.

              • @Kurusawa: Yeh doesn't seem to like whatever I'm doing for whatever reason.

                • @parad0x: You have to Buy Now from the coins section to get the big coin discount. If you Add to Cart, you'll only get the small (~2%) coin discount.

There is a way to get over the Choice US$10 (AU$15) free shipping hurdle, buy multiple of the item. Irritating if you only want one, but ok if it's something you're ok having a few of. Buy Now enough to be over the threshold, before all discounts
