[VIC, ACT, NSW, WA, QLD, SA] Ultra Broadband Vision Network 100/25 & 500/25 FTTB Plans: $0 for 6 Months (New Customers) @ iiNet

520

Was looking at Ozbargain deals and an iiNet ad popped up saying $0 internet for first 6 months and I thought it was worth looking at. I checked my address and it looked like the post 6 months ongoing price wasn't crazy either. I didn't do a deep dive into the T&Cs but it looks worthy of attention.

$0 Modem + $10 Delivery.

Available in selected areas and buildings connected to the Vision Network.

What is the Vision Network?

    TPG = No thanks

    • +5

Now its Voda + TPG so double the no thanks

Seems like it's only for FTTB connections

    • Yep, but a great deal..

    • -1

Oh not for hfc connection? Is it worthwile to convert somehow?

      • It's a private network so only available to select addresses.

    Your data… priceless!

    • Its much safer everywhere else then! ?

  • What's the catch?

    • There isn’t one really. It's all on the TPG (now Vocus) owned network and no NBN costs involved. Before NBN did away with their CVC charges, it was actually the better product to use.

I used to have TPG FTTB in my apartment and had a flawless 100/40 connection.

      Its iiNet (tpg (Vodafone))

You need to live in a block of flats with FTTB already connected.

If you live in a house, forget it.

      • Yep FTTB is basically for apartment blocks and flats

        • I guess it makes sense that it is cheaper than FTTP. One fibre has plenty of bandwidth for a building.

      • Don't they provide new connection to a house?

        • +1

Not for Vision Network. This is not NBN

  • +2

I assume I can just get the 6 months free and then cancel?

    • Yep ive done exactly that, jumped from iinet to tpg now back on iinet

  • Doesnt Vodafone give you 12 months free for the same thing?

    • +1

It’s free if you have a phone or sim plan already with them. I have it and its flawless
      910 down and 110 up

      • Prepaid too?

        • No. Sim only month to month

    • +1

How did you get that offer, is it still available to get

  • is there a down time if I move from TPG to another provider? currently on NBN50 Plan.

    • +1

      This is not NBN

  • What’s the definition of a new customer?

Is it 12 months away from iiNet?

    • I'm with Iinet, and previously I phoned them and asked them for the same deal as a new customer (e.g. 6months discount or free).

And they obliged, possibly because I've been a long time customer with them.

lost all respect for Iinet when they chose to drop email support and sent you off to the messaging co if you wanted to keep your email addresses. Then raised their prices to boot. Well, the messaging co, there's another story!!

I see no one has mentioned the iiNet security incident.

In fairness, companies are usually their most secure right after they've had their pants dropped from a security breach, as it prompts them to take action and review, improve. A few of the big ones have been hit. But good to share the details so people are aware.

  • Dropped TPG a few years ago when they sent me an email saying they will share my data with partners. No thanks. Its true when the product is free, you are the product……

Rather roam on my tesltra 5G then TPG + iiNet

  • It says not available at my address? Anyone know possible reason for that

    • +10

Yes, it's not available at your address.

Jumped on this in the ACT after Superloop wasn't interested in giving me a competitive deal after 3 years use. Easier install if you've had VDSL2 hooked up before, a little clunky otherwise coming in off the phone line pole (installer wanted someone to pre-run the internal cable too). Went from FTTN ~90Mb to ~500Mb connection. Stoked so far. ~300mb Wi-Fi around the house using old deco x20 mesh (2 x20 routers and 1 x20 satellite.

  • iiNet have been discounting this so aggressively. First it was $60, then $40, now $0. Feels like a real smack to the face for those of us who switched at the first discount. When I asked about getting the second discounted price the sales person said its not possible but they can instead make me a new account to give me the price.

    • if they make a new account, do they need a tech to visit your place again??

      • Nope, just change the login in the modem.

        • FTTB g.fast dont need login details though

Anyway, so did you get the $0 for 6 months deal??

          • @Homr: No, I already created a second account to get the $40/month deal and we are moving soon so it didnt seem worth it to make a third iinet account for 2 months of free internet.

  • I signed up to this on Sunday and they sent somebody to hook it up on Wednesday. I went from 90/16 on NBN fttb to regularly getting 350-450/40-45 on Vision fttb. Free for six months apart from the $10 for the modem, no contract, and even after that I’ll be paying less than I was before switching. Incredible. I had no idea this existed until last week.

  • Does anyone know if these vision FTTB plans come with 4g backup??

    • Vodafone.

      • is that it?

Iinet offers 4gb back up on their normal NBN plans but not vision FTTB ones, do you know why?

        • Ask them?

  • Havent posted for a while .vodafone have some awsome pricing going on at the moment came accross it on the website and in the long term a whole lot cheaper than iinet and tpg.
