  • Just wondering if anyone has experience with this range?
I’m looking for simple option to tame our very small backyard and front lawn. (Less than 30m2 altogether)
It’s random patches of gravel, grass, concrete paths. And a lot of weeds…
    Would appreciate advice!

(Saw the Ego deal, but wasn’t sure if I needed to go up to that level).

    • +1

If I hadn't just bought the Ego deal yesterday I'd be interested in this. Stanely seem to be a good middle of the road brand. I've been using my pair of Stanley drills bought on clearance at Masters for years that are still great. Whipper snippers are a right PITA if you're using a cheapy.

    • Did you pick one up before it sold out?

    • +1

Generally, 18v is not enough for a whipper snipper- they work but are usually underwhelming.
36V and upwards is the go

      • +3

depends on your use. I've got a bosch 18v whipper snipper and bosch 18v lawnmower with 32cm deck (and bosch 18v hedge trimmer…) for maintaining a yard about the same size @stonedewok mentioned. Certainly good enough for such a small space.

I previously had a much bigger corner block (70m frontage) that get a lot of weeds in a bluestone gutter. 18v would have been underpowered for that. I had a 40v greenworks line trimmer for that.

    • Thanks for the feedback everyone!
      Damn, already OOS though. lol.
Took too long to think about it.

      • buy now, ask later.

  • Given they’re the same company, this looks almost identical to the DeWalt version

    • yes and no,
      the dewalt batteries dont fit

  • +1

Thank you. I wanted to get this on prime day as my petrol one gave up due to a ruptured fuel hose.
I picked one up now. So really grateful

    • +1

Fuel hose should be an easy fix?

      • This was a cheap masters trimmer I think everything was cracking already. The hose was just the first part to fail.

  • Out off Stock already

  • that was a real quick oos

  • +1

I vowed I wouldn't buy any more stanley stuff after they changed the battery connector with the 'new' V20.

Stanley Fatmax sounds like a nickname someone got in primary school.

Still available don’t know what is the difference between OP posted with this one..

    Thanks

    • That one is not brushless and is only listed as being able to use 1.6mm line.

Back in stock this morning, grabbed one.

    • Me too!!! 🥳

    • Gone again…

    • Have you fired it up yet? Any good?

  • I did as well, had brought the single line, so will send that one back, also have the drills from Masters work well

  • Available again now with 4 left at 4.17pm

  • Not many reviews on this one…I bought one.
Will see how it goes. 18v might be too weak, wondering if I should’ve paid more and gone the 60v greenworks combo kit.
    I’m a sucker for the 50% off

    • I opened mine on Thursday and gave it a quick crack. It's actually not that bad. It definitely cuts grass ok, it turns off if it is a bit heavy with thick weeds but turns back on instantly unlike the petrol ones

      • +2

        Thanks for the feedback
How’s the wire spool? Does it feed easy?
        Mines coming in 2 weeks

        • Ok I had a problem with this today
Spool is the shit point of this machine. I'm going to request a refund.
It releases too much and flings off the cut spool onto my legs. Got so many cuts from it. Also it melted the connecting point of the spool head from the cable getting wrapped around it..

          • @maverickjohn: Wow really that bad???
            Sheesh
Maybe I go with one of the other brands then and refund this one too.

          • @maverickjohn: Tried mine over the weekend, spool feeds no worse than my old ryobi petrol trimmer. spool assy is flimsy though compared to the ryobi, not confident of log term reliability of the spool. Battery life is great… No personal injuries to speak of during use.

            • @vinnycol: I might have been unlucky with mine.
I'm glad yours is working ok.
I lost a whole spool in a few minutes it kept coming out and obviously kept cutting it. It was atrocious.

            • @vinnycol: I used mine yesterday, I was surprised to find it only had one hole for the spool? Usually has double wire… It worked alright, kept cutting out with big weeds had to re start it a fair few times.

  • Can anyone compare these to the similar Ozito 18v (single battery) models?
