    Just a random irrelevant question that crossed my mind. Do these companies pay Amex to advertise their name and get traffic or do Amex pay them so the card looks more attractive to customers? Or case by case?
    So assuming $100 off $500 like this offer, do samsung take the hit and still pay Amex, or does the discount amount get split so Amex pay samsung $50 or something?

      Amex don’t need marketing payments from these companies because we are paying enough annual fees to cover all these.

      This offer is available for 40000 card holders only.

      40000 x $100 = $4000000 (if everyone use it)
      $4000000 / $450 = $8,889

      The campaign is covered by the annual fees ($450) of 9000 card holders. Amex has over 1.5 million card holders + they charge merchants a fee for each transaction. They can be more generous and still afford these promotions on them.

          Exactly. Some cards are $1000+ annual fees and some are free, so just used the most popular card fees to give an idea.

        No way amex is covering the whole discount amount. Otherwise they could also offer this at colesworth or amazon and be more appealing to customers instead of the same offers cycled every few months. It has to be an agreement with those merchants to chip in.

        It's actually a combination of the items costing more than $500, the merchant transaction fees they charge the merchant for each amex transaction and the % of those who will use the deal to make a purchase that they can't pay back in one go and have to pay interest. If it didn't work they wouldn't be running these promo's. I for instance i don't pay any annual fees on my amex but always have these promo's there to be activated.

    Anyone know if it works on EPP sites? Or Education etc?

    It looks like its meant to be just the main non EPP/EDU site, but wondering if anyone has tried it before and had it work?

    Agree, can’t see why it won’t work.. Just in time for me purchase the 85” and bring further down after all discount and trade from EPP store!!

    I am hoping to be able to use multiple cards? Does any one know?

    Anyone know if split payment is possible with multiple cards? Got a few Amex cards where the offer appeared on but don't want to save the offer on all cards if I can't use multiple cards
