With EVs under the LCT threshold, the cost of the entire lease comes out of pretax income so you can get a significant tax savings if you pay 37% or 45% tax and it makes up for the not great interest rates that usually come with novated leases, which is why they are hidden.
But at lower tax rates like 30% you don’t always come out on top and the best option may not be as straightforward as a 5 year NL + buyout, as you also want to take advantage of fixed residual values set by the ATO (e.g. 65.63% for a 1yr NL). The best option could absolutely be to do a 1yr NL + buyout.
