Hardly that much of an issue as it use to be with most carriers now allowing 30kg
This is the 56 cm version, i.e. carry on.
Oh, deal breaker
It's "yeah naur"
Damn. Carry on size but almost half the carry on weight for some airlines
Anyone know of a super lightweight carryon case? Been looking around for a bit best I've found is a Tosca one at 2kg. Or there's a july lightweight case at 1.9kg but double the price, for 100g doesn't make sense, but anything else to consider?
Does it have to be a case? There's plenty of duffles or backpacks that'd fit the bill.
Yeah I currently have a backpack but my back is getting quite sore lately so want to be able to push along my luggage.
Thanks for that, somehow missed that one. Around the same price as the July case too. ~$240
I just bought 4 x American tourister applite 4E from bagworld on eBay last month for my family. Was $92.50 after the discount they had at the time.
1.9kg
They are currently $109 on eBay with $10 off if you have eBay plus. They were the cheapest name brand lightweight carryon I could find.
@flashi007: any real diff between the 4e and the 5?
(your post inspired me to grab a 4e for a second carry-on to add to the pile)@SBOB: They look very very similar. They look different enough to tell them apart but they are so similar. The 4E is 1.9kg and 37L - the 5 is 2.0kg and 38L

Oh this looks perfect! Thank you very much!
Second the American Tourister Applite line, very happy with mine although I can't vouch for longevity just yet. Did 10km or so of walking around the Melbourne CBD with it on a recent work trip and it wheeled around town without any issues over all sorts of surfaces, but the wheel assembly does feel a bit flimsy. Shouldn't be hard to replace if needed.
Doesn't get much lighter than 1.8kg for a case with wheels
duffle bag.
Weight 3.2kg
Scoffs
Real ozbargainers use those blue ikea bags to make the most of carry-on allowances.
Just shove them in the pocket
I thought you're meant to use that for beach picnic only.
Refugee bags is where it's at. The pink, blue and white striped ones
3.2kg Great if you travel business all the time. For economy 3.2kg out of your 7kg :(
If you can afford business, you'd skip the entire cheapo brand and move up to Samsonite
If you can afford business, move up to Rimowa. Samsonite is not much difference to American Tourister, same company with just different name attached to their bags.
Although a Luxury brand, Rimowa always reminds me of those cheapo Amazon brands. 😅
Yeah nah
