This might not be for everyone, definitely cheapers alternatives out there. These lean towards premium packing cube/s with the compression feature.
Small size also available for $19

First time I've come across the idea of a compression cube for travel but coincidentally, Aldi is doing a special buy for these (not Thule branded obviously). Comes as a 3 pack but doesn't specific the size. $13, might be worth a punt

Kmart has something similar too that I used for 2 trips and they performed great.
Thanks for the head-up. Will try the Aldi ones first then for less than half the price.
These are great. I bought two of the Thule ones and a pack of the Bagail ones from Amazon. The Thule ones are better and lighter. One of the Bagail ones arrived with a tear, but the others were fine. Made packing for my Euro’ trip much easier.
It's a good quality compression cube - sturdy, good zippers, handle and built-in compression to save even more space. I have used these for a few trips. RRP is like $40+. Great deal.
What do you use these for? clothes, towels - clothy stuff? Anything else?
Zero at stores around the gold coast to southern Brisbane. And cant be ordered online for click and collect.
Are these available anywhere? I can see small as available for click & collect but nothing for medium in and around Melbourne
'Compression' is just squashing them? Are there any with a vacuum type compression?
Otherwise seems like an expensive version of large Ikea zip slider bags. https://www.ikea.com/au/en/p/istad-resealable-bag-patterned-…
You compression them with physical force, held by an interlocking metal zip. A zip lock bag is completely incomparable because their plastic construction can't resist the force of the clothing uncompressing and would simply open. You can fit an enormous amount of stuff in these things, which is great for laundry items that build up on a trip and need to be kept separate from your other clothing.
Anyone recommend good temu alternatives. Might wait for a 50% cashback
These are 'compression' in the sense that you unzip them and they are relatively large and you fill the space with your gear. You then do up the first zip. Then you squash down the clothes and then do up the 'compression zip'. Its just an easier way to minimise the space used than trying to stuff everything into a stuff sack or some other option; however they are not the ultimate compression option which is those vacuum ones where you squeeze out all the air through a one way valve.
The main quality issue between cheaper and more expensive compression cubes is the zipper. When you squash everything and then zip it up, it puts a lot of pressure on the zip. Cheap zips / cheap connection between the zipper and the cube and it all falls apart. To a lesser extent, if the cube material isnt very strong it will just stretch and deform and you end up with a round blob that takes up almost as must space as a normal non compression packing cube.
All in all, they are useful to save a bit of space and/or allow you to pack a little bit more. In a suitcase that can be very useful. However its not solving your overpacking problem…
Sounds like they'll just become landfill over time
at worst they are packing cubes. If you like packing cubes then these offer a little bit extra, which may or may not be worth it for you.
Thank you for explaining it so well. Looks like this is waste for me.
Bought a pack of 6 compression cubes for the same price as one of these a couple of years ago from Amazon and they lasted (and are still going), on numerous international trips.
I think $29 for a single compression cube is pretty expensive.
Ordered the small Thule (stock remaining) and J burrows 3 pack for $19. Will compare the two.
These sold out while still in my cart. 20 mins after it was posted
Just placed an order with 'Delivered to store'. 2 day wait apparently
I had no idea what the Thule Compression Cube was. Here's a review
