Possibly my personal best for fastest post.

Damn Officeworks have already dropped their price to $497, so can’t price beat

    • +15

$467 is cheaper than the price beat

Thanks. Been waiting ages for this to go on sale!

Pretty crap phone from all reports?

    • +7

I've got one, it's great when you install GrapheneOS onto it. The battery life is somewhat wanting, but apart from that I love it

      • +2

How's camera performance on graphene vs stock?

        • +2

Good, and if you're particularly pedantic about it you can very easily install the original Pixel camera app and then it's the same as stock.

      • And warranty if phone gets screen issue?

        • +2

Phone can have original operating system reloaded back and coriander relocked no problem.

          Does not void warranty

    • Given they've been using a dodgy supplier for the batteries in the A series, it'd be a risky buy.

      • +3

These days you don't get a lot for sub $500. I have one, works well and does what is needed. Recommend.

      • +5

If they keep handing out $700 refunds I'm happy

        • +3

Yeah they gave me $650 for my 2.5 yr old pixel 6a lol

        • Not guaranteed to get that amount though; relative of mine only got $120. Wasn't worth the reduced lifespan.

        • Lol this is what my wife said when she just bought a 9a to replace her 7a

    • +5

From what I can research it seems to have almost universally positive reviews. Editor's choice from Android Authority, highly recommended by Choice, PC Mag, Tech Radar, Tom'sGuide, Wired…

Where are these 'crap phone' reports?

      • probably in Apple forums from people who've never used anything but iphones

  • will wait for same deal on 9A

    • +3

      This time next year?

    • Got a UK one (9a) for 245gbp ($504) when I was there a couple months ago. Amazing what terrible deals Aus is getting by comparison. Sure it'll drop soon enough.

Can anyone tell me whether this coupon works if paying with JB HiFi gift cards?

    • The answer is at the fourth line of the quoted text

    • Gift cards are a payment method, not a coupon. So it will work

      • So stack with the 10% off tcn him at woolies, and use those to get it for effectively $420 at JB?

        • +1

Yes, I just did it now. But I had to buy $500 worth as there wasn't any variable amount option. I got $50 off at Woolies.

    • Yes, I just bought a dji osmo action 5 using the coupon and paid with the 10% off TCN Him gift cards converted to JB gift cards

  • +1

Was gonna wait for the 9a go to $700 but this is much better at half price

  • Great sale, $50 off the prior ATL. I'm disappointed the Pixel 8a 256GB version hasn't come down to a similar discount though. It was $608 in the last ATL, this sale it's only down to $647 (or $617 with JB Perks voucher).

  • 256gb?

  • Would the pixel 8 deal for $400 a couple months back have been the better deal?

    • +11

      Yes, start the Delorean

      • Thanks I just thought I was missing something that makes the 8a better than the 8

  • +1

    Awesome thanks!

  • Pixel 9 Pro is on sale too! Still 100 more than last time, but still really good! Ugh ahah, to wait for the new iphone hmmm.

  • Can I still use this perks coupon after price match?

    • -1

      Just to confirm it works!

      • Who are you price matching with? Thanks

  • -2

To all those who complain about Motorola camera…especially those who bought LOW-end Motorola-phones & expect flagship camera that take good photo in LOW-light etc etc

  • Which is a better phone, the pixel 8 deal for $400 a couple months back or this 8a? Is there any difference in size and specs?

    • +1

Pixel 8 is slightly smaller, slightly bigger screen, better screen, better cameras, it's the better deal.
      Comparison
      Comparison 2

      • I wish I hadn't missed the 8 deal, smaller is better for me. According to the camera specs the 8a has a better camera, not that I care about the camera much.

        • In what way does the 8a have better cameras? From a hardware perspective the 8 is better, particularly when there's less light.

    • +2

Pixel 8. Here's my ranking of the models:

      Larger

      • Pixel 10 Pro XL
      • Pixel 9 Pro XL
      • Pixel 8 Pro
      • Pixel 7 Pro

      Smaller

      • Pixel 10 Pro
      • Pixel 9 Pro
      • Pixel 10
      • Pixel 9
      • Pixel 8
      • Pixel 9a
      • Pixel 8a
      • You also prefer the 8 over the 8a, what makes it better in your opinion?

  • +4

In our rush to get you this great offer we accidentally missed one of the exclusions. This has now been included in the offer terms below.

If anyone was wondering what the missing exclusion was, "Google Pixel 10 Series".

  • +2

    Still quite expensive

  • Bloody hell. I forgot to check on perk yesterday after buying sonos arc ultra. As I paid all in gift card, I am not sure if it is ideal to return or convince them to deduct furthet $30 dollar? Anyone is suceed in claiming it back.

    • I was able to do this today for a Pixel 9a purchase i made yesterday (03-Sep). Had to physically go to the store (web chat told me they can't do it online).

Phone sales person told me i can try at the counter -> counter person said they had to check with the manager - > manager approved :).

Confirming the phone was originally paid with mainly GCs and ~$40 on card. They refunded me $30 back to the card.

  • Yeah, I just did that. Amazing, got sonos arc ultra for only 1280.
