Was looking at putters and this came up. Looks like a really good price for a highly rated putter. Only comes in 34" which is too short for me, sadly.

Apparently the promo code ZLWKCYKJGDPA will give you 12% off if you buy two. That works out at about $211 each. Sell the second one for $250 and get a new jailbird for about $170 which is a steal. No pun intended.

Enjoy.

  • What's normal pricing on these?

    • RRP seems to be $500. Most places selling them at around $400.

  • Any sets floating around atm?

  • Is this investment advice?

    • +2

All advice is general in nature and doesn't take into account the wrath of your wife.

I might offend someone, but I just have to say that I find it absolutely amazing that someone would be willing to pay this kind of money for something like this. I guess the "cost of living crisis" doesn't distribute very evenly…

    • Gear Acquisition Syndrome is real.

Of course it doesn't distribute evenly. Not everyone lives in Metro areas where cost of living is highest. Plenty of people own their home or are at a point where their mortgage is very manageable.

But if you're going to have a crack at someone buying a $200 putter there are so many other sports and hobbies that cost way more than golf does.

I don't know why I feel like I need to justify myself but I've never been what you would call rich. But my wife and I both have long term, secure white collar jobs. We both worked hard at school to get into uni. We both worked hard at uni to get good jobs afterwards. We both work hard at our jobs to grab opportunities when they arise. We both had big HECS debts. We didn't get financial help from our families, neither of which were in a position to offer that anyway.

We've always been very thoughtful with our money. We've done it really really hard over the years but only recently, now that I'm in my mid 40s, could I even consider splurging $200 on a golf club. Most of my clubs are second hand. I've only every bought a few new clubs in my life.

So are we lucky? Absolutely. But have we worked hard and been smart to get to the position we are? Yes we have. We deliberately moved away from metro after uni to make living more affordable.

So I'm not offended, but I think it's unfair to criticise somewhat successful people.

Edit: looking at your comment history it seems that you're a bit hypocritical about people's spending habits. Gopros, drones, Lego etc all cost significant money and certainly aren't essentials. So, in future, how about don't criticise others for how they choose to spend their money. It's quite clear that we all have our hobbies and leisure activities, you included, all of which cost money. So spare us the hypocritical comments, yeah?

      • You went regional? Where jobs are scarce and public transportation is even worse (non-existent)

        • Job security isn't an issue for us. Public transport is poor but there are far more elements to cost of living than that. We can afford to live a10 min drive from work here. We couldn't do that in a capital city.

Probably shouldn't take him so seriously. He's happy to spend $100s on legos. Unless he's playing with his legos all the time, a putter actually gets more practical use.

        • Not to mention, this putter could win you The Masters one day. At least that's what you tell your wife.

    • +1

Yeah it’s like the people who spend hundreds on Lego…
