Not worth the extra $100 over a 5700X

    • +2

Essentially the same chip, AMD call the 5700X 65W and it's clocked 400mhz slower vs the 5800X at 105W. But the boost speed is basically the same, 4.6ghz vs 4.7ghz.

I just dropped a 5700x into an older system as a final upgrade, $112 off AE. Definitely no point building a new machine with them though, when the 7700 drops to ~$220

      The Aliexpress 5700X ?

      • Yep, effectively the same chip

        • +2

except 5700x way easier to cool (i have hot 5800x sadge)

    • ahh the 5800x still going strong :D love this 8 core cpu when you tweak it right its powerful and well managed temp wise. Be aware goes never use the default factory settings in bios, it will cook you cpu because the aggressive overclocking is terrible. So you got to make sure you tweak it to get the best out of it and good temps.

    • Where are you finding the 5700x for $100 less than this?

I'm subbed to the 5700x page for the next deal to drop:

    • i forgot you can sub to an item

aliexpress 5700,7500f and 7700 come at me

I just assumed that all of the Ryzen 7 5800X stock had dried up, guess I was wrong.

I'm sitting on a Ryzen 7 5700X right now, what do you guys think of the chances of a good deal on an AM4 X3D chip coming around? I'd like to be wrong about stock drying up for these too haha.

    • +2

They only make a small amount of 5500x3d for one region, no other am4 x3d chips being made.

    • +2

Yeah stock dried up, AMD selling 5500x3d which binned worse than 5600x3d chips (which binned worse than 5700x3d and so on) to minimise wastage of chips.

All those 5700X3D chips went through AE 6-12 months ago (I got one which I'm pleasantly happy with from the 5700X I had).

Best bet would be a mate upgrading or FB marketplace. They can't be OC'd so at least you know they haven't thrashed it lol. Can only be UV to sustain boost for longer I believe? (Would need to double check as I kinda set it and forgot it 6-12 months ago)

is 5600x/5700x/5800x much of an upgrade compared to a 5600?

    • you mean 5600x3D (5600x/5700x/5800x are better binned models that are ~100mhz than their counterparts 5600/5700/5800)

I went from a 3600 to 5700 then 5700x3D a few weeks later. I saw a decent improvement over the 3600 initially, when moving to the x3D I saw improved 1% FPS, so less stuttering. Wasn't a big improvement to FPS overall as I run a UW 1440p 75hz 3080 but it was a smoother experience with the V-Cache. The x3D run a slower core clock than their counterparts and you can't OC them (I think I managed to get the 5700X to 4ghz base and 4.8 turbo whereas the x3D is 3ghz base and 4ghz turbo, however you UV so it boosts for longer) Despite the slower core clock, it ran better with the larger V-Cache.

My 5700x with proper tuned PBO and CO hits 4725 all core in CBR23 with 3733 c14 memory. Scores between 16000 and 16400 depending on the ambient temps.

    Need a 7700!

  • Is this or the 5700X much of an upgrade compared to the 5600X? CPU Benchmarks seem to suggest ~17% increase in performance for the 5700X and ~20% for the 5800X but not sure if that will be noticeable in everyday use.

  • Alright need a bit of advice: I game on a Dell ultrawide 3440 x 1440

I mostly play single player games but more recently have been on POE2.
I'm good most of the way until I got to T15 maps- the mob density and damage calculations just str8 up tanks my fps

    I have a Ryzen 3600 x EVGA RTX 3080.

would it be worth upgrading with this?

    • +2

Yes, the Zen 3 architecture in Ryzen 5700/5800 is a significant IPC improvement (probably about 30%) over the Zen 2 architecture in Ryzen 3600.

The extra 2 cores and 4 threads in the Ryzen 5700/5800 will also help a bit as well even though POE2 won't fully utilize them.
