Let' see if Bunnings wants to join the race…

    • +2

I wonder which brand is better?
The bunnings one is good but getting the bags for the large one is a PITA

      • +4

A fear a more accurate question is, 'which one is worse?'

        • +1

I dunno bro, Aldi-branded stuff has been shown to be quite reliable. Even their Aldi shapes is better than actual Shapes biscuits

          • @marshmall0w2:

Even their Aldi shapes is better than actual Shapes biscuits

            Really??????

          • @marshmall0w2: Food is different, almost everything with electrical components I have bought from Aldi has failed in 12 to 24 months. I no longer buy anything in that category, just stick to organic food and occasional clothing items (no socks, they wore out super fast).

      • What Bunnings model(s) are people referring to here?

        • +2

I have the 35 litre Ozito but I think the 20 litre one is the same but without power take off

          • +2

@King Tightarse: Thanks. Thought people meant the Ozito brand but saying Bunnings instead.
I got the Ozito battery operated ash (dry only, not wet & dry) version posted on here earlier this year and pretty happy with that. Would like to find a longer hose with floor tool that fits for it for cheap though to add to versatility/flexibility of use.

  • I have two from the Bunnings. Love the simplicity, and how easy it is to clean it. They suck well too!

  • +3

Aldi is 18.2 kPa Bunnings is 16.0 kPa

Not sure how reliable the specs are.

  • thanks, in the market for a new vaccum. looks better than the labubu one

    • +7

This is not your standard household vacuum. It’s more for trade waste and as a hardy beater vacuum. They are extremely loud and not HEPA.

      • But does it suck well? Like for car vacuuming and stuff

        • +2

Very well for that, but it’s also not the most portable. But they are extremely hardy and won’t care if they suck water, leave litter, dirt etc.

      • +1

        doh! thanks for the comment

  • This can't be better than Dyson? serious question

    • +5

See above, this is not supposed to be your weekly indoor vacuum.

    • +3

Nah, I use this for cleaning leaves and debris from gutters, concrete dust, plasterboard dust, wet cleaning car seats etc. It's meant to handle the stuff that your indoor vac can't handle. I wouldn't recommend indoor use anyway as these aren't fitted with hepa filters.

    • No, but a Dyson can't do water and won't like cement dust etc.
Shop vacs are great to have in the shed, can dry a floor, clean the gutters.
But not intended for regular carpet vac.

    • Might be equivalent in terms of airflow, but the dysons are battery powered while these are mains powered and use 5 times the power. It'll work in a pinch but it's not the best idea.

      • -1

but the dysons are battery powered

I was referring to the cable-powered one.

  • Will this or the Bunnings one be good as a WET vacuum for occasionally cleaning the lounge suite, car upholstery and smaller rugs at home?

    • +4

Someone posted above that this unit gets slightly more suction so I'd go with this. Remember to remove the pleated filter and use the foam filter for wet vacuuming. Also buy one of those clear plastic extractor nozzles from Aliexpress so you can see when clear water is being vacuumed out.

  • Good for cleaning out the wood fire pizza oven?

    • +2

Plenty in the council throw outs, or at building sites, when some tradie fills one up and pops it straight onto the skip instead of emptying the bag

  • This is bagged vacuum I believe.

    • +1

My question too. If so, where can you get the spare bags? Kmart has a bagless wet dry vacuum for $70 I think.

      • +2

bunnings have the bags the cheapest, also takes a cartridge filter which is extra, some bunnings bundles also come with cartridge filter.

      • +2

Can use without the bag but the filter clogs up real quick that you will be cleaning it constantly. Bunnings sell 20L wet dry bags to suit most brands

  • +2

Not good for households as it spits out a fair amount of dust but great for garage, leaves etc. outdoor stuff. Trades.

  • This vacuum takes NO bags; it sucks the dust straight into the drum. The only part needing changing is the filter. I'm still using my Aldi wet dry vacuum (similar to this one) that I bought 5 years ago, I just clean the filter with compressed air.

As for where do you buy the filter? Don't know, hence why I have never replaced it, but I'm tipping the Ozito ones would fit it.

It's ideal for sheds etc, wouldn't dream of using this in the house.

  • How do they go with vacuuming up leaves ?
I get a reasonable number of leaves that blow into the garage and the couple of wet/dry vacs I have tried the nozzles/hose are too small in diameter and just blocks up

    • Not recommended, it's a normal width vacuum pipe, so they would get stuck straight away and if they made it all the way up the pipe, they would jam up at the filter.

    • I've always felt a portable blower was the way to go with gutters. I can't imagine hauling this up a ladder and doing a metre at a time.

  • I told you not to disturb me while im cleaning my room

No one can beat the Bunnings Ozito price unless direct import from the supplier.
