That's so cruel. I've just become a vegan halal starting from today solely because of that specific video.
I don't mind stepping on ants or running over cats on the road, as long as I'm oblivious to it.

What a wonderful music to the ears.
Wish that is automated for me in summer!

They do, but always find the fly after it is zapped as it sometimes only zaps them and you gotta get a tissue or wipe to fully end their life

      • +4

Hold the button and let it fry a bit.

        • +1

And don't forget to wet the sponge Percy

      If your limbs work.

    • +8

Yup, but having fresh / recharged batteries works best. Bigger zaps. I find when the batteries aren't that full, it will just knock flies out for a bit and they'll soon recover to see another day.

If an insect gets caught in the grills and you hold the button down, it starts to cook it as well and you get a nice smelling aroma as a result :p

      • Some of their tiny bodies explode if given enough voltage

    • -1

Only if you can hit them.

    • Use when I visit Kathmandu to deal with mosquitos and works a treat, sometimes when you can't see them you just hold the button and wave it around and you'll hit one. Haven't tried with flies in Perth but I imagine you'd hold it right about where the fly is sitting with the button held down and try to trap it as it takes off.

It's not as easy as you'd expect, takes certain techniques lol.

    Rechargeable?

    • They take AA, so I put rechargeable ones in mine. I do have to charge them separately though.

    Perfect for my BDSM toolkit

Mum I said no more Ozbargain for you…

Who else has a relative that calls it a fly squatter instead of a swatter?

    • +3

Ha my Grandfather used to say "blow me" instead of "blow me down" which has a totally different meaning.

      • Ha my Grandfather used to say "blow me"

        So did you blow him?

      • He knew exactly what he was saying 🤣

    Electric Bug Swatter

Does it work on normal bugs?

    • +10

      No, just abnormal bugs

    • No, you need an acoustic bug swatter.

    • +1

Nah, this is for when software bugs attain physical presence and table tennis

  • Got rid of my infestation of pantry moths in one summer. Every time I see one "Zapp!!". They could multiply after that summer.

  • +2

    Nice!

Summer season is good for some games of BadBugminton.

  • Are these things any danger to kids?

    • +3

Yep, small shock / charge to the fingers

      • +27

        Perfect!!

  • Can I use this for the sickness bug going around?

  • -4

Some fools will actually be buying this, in 2 days' time.

I'll hold my hands up and admit - I've wasted money on this website too.

    • +3

      It actually works

    • -3

As it is a prohibited item you risk Australia Post confiscating it. Customs will do the same as I found when buying it for Temu.

  • Holy crap, customs confiscated mine a few months ago. WTF.

    • I ordered from Temu and it managed to get delivered, slightly cheaper than this

      • what I actually want: bugassaalt. With lasers and sharks hahaha
Sept now they have that tobacco store as their agent i don't think they sell direct.

        • I just looked seems a few places do but the Giftbox one is like 40% cheaper than Amazon.

    • Yeah I bet there’ll be a recall notice within 6 months.

Hopefully there’s not a kid injured or house fire before then.

    • I was just gonna say I thought these were illegal to bring into the country. I I remember managing to bring one in years ago

  • Frequently $5 at your local silly sollys

  • I remember when these first came out in asean countries, border and customs control classified this as a "weapon" and we couldn't being one back to Australia. Lol

    • LOL, I managed brought one back in 2006 from VN but couldn't used it bec no mossi found at my place.

Nice, just in time for my wife who starts playing pickleball

One of the classic Asian mum kitchen weapon.

  • These were 2x for $10 delivered at Kogan last year. Great for fruit flies.

Will stun flies, then you have to get dispose of them.

  • DO NOT LICK

    • +1

      Pics or it didn't happen!

  • I'd rather avoid this plastic rubbish.

    I like these

    https://www.temu.com/au/handmade-natural-cowhide-fly-killer-…

  • Good for cockroaches? Main trouble we have here

  • Need a bigger surface area, skill issue for me.

  • I thought, it is ban in Australia.

  • I had these. Great for flies and mozzies. Horrible for anything crawling. Flat out didn’t work for roaches and spiders - will just torture them.
Also not good if u have kids that are too curious.
Zaps them too- they just get hurt a little. Got mine from overseas.

    • +2

Ok noted, I won't have kids then. Thanks.

      • +1

You could opt for some dumb kids.. those and this bat can coexist without zaps.
But yes.. condoms are the way to go always.

  • -1

They make great presents, the flies smell bad when cooked, smells like burnt hair.
Kids love them, but you risk having all your stuff whacked off your table, window sill, lampshades etc.
Get the kids to work and send them out to your veggie patch, fruit tree or wherever flying bugs gather.

    • -1

Encouraging kids to get enjoyment out of killing living things isn’t how I’d raise my children.

Obviously it’s unfortunately required sometimes. But I wouldn’t make it a fun game.

      • -1

I'm not telling them to kick over ant nests or hunt down bees,
it's only the butterfly moths and aphids that destroy my veggies and trees, as stated in my original comment.

        • As I said, unfortunately dealing with pest is required sometimes. But I tried to avoid it and certainly don't get joy out of it. That's the attitude I'd try to bestow.

  • Will this work for the pests brandishing machetes roaming the streets of Melbourne?

  • I bought a pair from kogan for $9 was a very good investment. Got rid of so many mosquitoes last Summer, house was insect free. I believe these would work the same or even are the same.

  • I swatted a fly using this before and my wife hit me in the balls.
I could never forget the vertical and horizontal lines on her cheek when she punched me.

  • I have one from a Chinese site that runs on an 18650 cell, lasts forever and no fly can survive.
AA batteries never hurt anyone 😂

  • This is a lot more fun.

    https://www.bugasalt.com.au

  • These can destroy electronics! I learnt the hard way by trying to measure its output voltage using my multimeter.

  • didnt they shutdown coles bestbuys earlier this year ?

    • Yes. Deal is for Coles but a moderator changed it.

  • Can't seem to add it to my cart. Is it in-store only?

  • My local had nothing in their best buy section, waste of time

    • Thanks for saving me a trip. I won't go to my local either.

  • If you're savvy with a soldering iron, take it apart and replace the battery terminal with a 9V clip.
Triple the input voltage = triple the output.
It turns it into a continuous zap device, and much more potent against flies.
Here's mine from 14 years ago, when an ex had a fruit fly infestation. The swatter off the shelf did nothing… at most it would stun a fly and they'd fly off soon after.
    This on the other hand…
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KzyZBPB_euI

    • But 2 AA batteries is 3 volts. How did you know tripling the voltage wouldn't damage it?

      • @WatchNerd Simply put.. I don't. I can't confirm the circuit, but it's generally pretty straight forward.
Mine worked for a long while without issue. I ended up tearing mine down for.. other reasons.. lol.
Over time you might get electric breakthrough and then internal shorting, but for $9 it's worth the experiment.
