true - im a simple man, $1 thing i buy….. true, didnt really think about 2kw heating pool water.
i dont even have a pool …Keep it for when your hot water system dies and you need a nice hot bath.
Melt your resin bathtub in one simple step!
Like Mr Pinchy 🦀
I know someone who had one for this very purpose.
Heating a pool though? It's basically a kettle.
Very small chance of electrocution.
One step up from hair dryer in the bath.
Electricity and water don’t mix.
They do quite well actually, which is the problem.
According to this calculator: https://www.omnicalculator.com/physics/water-heating
it will only take me 8 days and $130 to heat my pool from 14C to 28C. Bargain.
But you need the $20K super insulation cover first to keep the heat in.
Yeah, that doesn't add up. My 11kw pool heater system would take the same number of days to heat up to that temp.
Your pool might also be larger than theirs.
more like a bath heater .. this would take more then a week to heat up a outdoor pool….
Bought it, without thinking. Don't think that I need to think about an $1 thing.
Do that a million times and let us know how it works out for you
I've always liked the idea of having 'a thing' delivered to my door, for less than the cost to post a letter…
username checks out
Woohoo, more landfill!
Can always use it for heating up a pot of water I guess.
(OOS)
Or a bucket to clean your bin?
Poor man's sous vide
What happen if I buy 10 of these and run them on the same time
Police knock on the door thinking you grow. Lol.
You dont wanna see your next electricity bill
you gonna trip something immediately…..
I used these to heat up water in a travel mug. To suggest that it could be used to heat up a swimming pool is laughable.
Thought you were joking for a sec
Used similar travelling overseas long ago.
Still have it somewhere - should still work.
Used similar when travelling overseas.
If there was a power point - could have hot water.
Simple device - operates on 120/230V supply.Amazon lists under Features:
"ideal for dorm rooms, offices, travel, or camping. Easily heats water in cups, mugs, or small pots"Height adjustable clip (up to 10 inches) keeps element at correct level (above bottom of container).
NOT designed for use with swimming pool!!
I think somebody made this to heat up a very, very big bolt to get it out and went "what I'm I going to do with the other 9999 I bought to meet MOC?"
used these as a kid on a daily basis growing up in India in the 80s to have a "bucket bath"
also who remembers in the mid 90s, Melb gas plant had a giant frozen rock of natural gas and no hot water for a week or so or was it the longford gas explosion (memory hazy)??
this is what we pulled out to heat our "bucket baths" againIn 1980's paid 1 Rupee each day for a bucket of hot water to wash - during icy winter in Nepal.
On following trips, took similar electric hot water heater. Worked great👍
Yeah this would have been handy during the Longford Gas disaster.
My late father actually bypassed the our gas heater to a wood fired boiler. I can't remember how he exactly jerry rigged it, but I do remember having a light up a fire at least an hour before a quick shower.
Wood stoves & wood heaters may have a "water jacket'. Pipe takes cold water in, circulates around firebox, & hot water out to a hot water tank or tap.
Used one on rural property. Yes need to make sure fire is well established long before you want hot water.
Used a 'chip heater' in old house in Melbourne. Burnt chips of wood.
Yeah he didn't use a "traditional" wood heater. All I remember is he bypassed the gas heater with a connection via a old garden hose with clamps to either a old boiler or his old still's condenser. I think it might have been an old boiler, as the condenser, the coil inside the condenser was probably too short.
230V straight into the pool. Nice
Amazon lists this as:
"perfect for quick coffee, tea, or cooking needs
ideal for dorm rooms, offices, travel, or camping. Easily heats water in cups, mugs, or small pots"Obviously Amazon Title is incorrect🤪
Buy 100 of these and heat the pool 100 times faster
Everyone here is having a laugh, but I could see this as useful for heating a kiddy pool on a cool Melbourne summer day. I have done it before using my home brew kettle.
That's all this is, an external kettle. It'll heat up a bath or kiddy pool. Just nothing bigger.
broden deal then resell on ebay/facebook/gumtree/local garage sale for $4… 300% profit buy house in no time
Personally i use an Anova sous vide .. so that i can get the pool temp exactly how i like it.
I have used it to heat a bucket of water and shower lol
And only $500 worth of electricity to heat up your pool. It really should say bath. 😅
