Thanks, I had this tab open as well but submitted wrong one.
perfect for an OW pricebeat!
Officeworks already has it for 1447
Would JB Price beat 1447 or only match it?
match only.
I would swallow up all of OW's toilet contents before even considering Gerry!
Go on then , lead by example ⁉️

256GB of RAM, hmm interesting
Same storage as the newly released iPhone 17 line…
That's a lot of RAM
These specs from 2010?
its a 2025 model so you are incorrect
edit: heres the 2010 macbook air specs
intel core 2 duo
4GB RAM (upgradable to 8GB)
64GB or 128GB storage
For Apple maybe.
I don't get this the base Air M4 is absolutely a spectacular machine. Even the 8gb M1 still holds it's own.
Don't knock what you haven't tried.
@UltimateAI: PLEASE do not say that the 8gb M1 still hold its own lol. I got one in 2020 and I could not stand it back then.
You are welcome to cope but please don't make others follow suit and disappoint themselves. Unless you buy it literally just for watching netflix.. then there are better options
@ddoraaaaa: Back in 2020, there were plenty of laptops with 8 GB RAM. Unless you are claiming they are all unusable, then it's just mostly a value proposition.
here is a nice comparison to intels ultra 7 258, also a 2025 processor (and a snapdragon but lol who cares about them)
https://www.xda-developers.com/tested-apple-m4-vs-intel-luna…
@Laserface: While I appreciate benchmarks, in Real world the Macbook is a lot snappier due to the integrated storage (yes it's not upgradable). Repeat the testing on batteries, that's when the Macbook shines, maintains the same level of performance.
@UltimateAI: was more for the uninitiated above that think the raw specs = real world performance. somehow its Apples fault that Intel hasnt been able to make their chips efficient.
Yeah, only Apple can do!
Amazon and officeworks also have for $1447
The coloured charging cable still have a white USB-C end makes me laugh. Couldn't Apple go the extra 2 cm have have the whole cable in the same colour?
Can confirm extra 2cm makes a difference
My wife says the bigger cables hurt too much anyway
16gb is plenty for macOS unless you have some specific workloads beyond chrome tabs and electron apps.
My daughter has this model and it's a super fast machine, I claimed the old 8 GB M1 (had a broken screen but replaced with a unit from Aliexpress).
Anyway, the 8GB M1 leaves my Lenovo for dust despite the Lenovo having 4 x the ram.
Compared to a Windows machine, same performance on Battery vs plugged in, amazing battery life, instant wake.
Downside with the old M1 is single screen via USBC, thankfully no longer an issue with the newer ones.
I still haven't worked out all the mac shortcuts, I'm a Linux\Wintel person. Remote desktop via a Mac does my head-in sometimes, flipping between key combos.
<TLDR>
8gb RAM is plenty for a Mac, so 16gb is a crap ton.
How much of that tiny 256gb SSD is needed for swap-file? (Page file for Windows users)
The specs are low to get you to upgrade at an exorbitant price. Great chips, but terrible company.
@BoltThrower: Fair question but with OneDrive and GitHub a lot of my data is in the cloud, I have a lot left.
This is the base/entry model
The instant wake is feature I take for granted. The snappiness of these machines is spectacular
I just bought this m4 after my kid broke the screen on the M1 and I was also planning to fix it up hahah. Can you share the replacement you got from aliexpress? Was it hard to do?
it's not plenty. the only use i have for mac hardware is local LLMs which need more ram.
That’s not a typical use case for an entry level laptop. Bottom of the bottom range.
Tell me you never owned a Macbook without telling me lol…Currently on the Mac air M1 2020 version, still fast but yeh you never bought a mac so you will never understand.
What's the regular price?
$1,699
They've been this price for months now I think. I'm waiting for a black friday sale on the 512gb version
Great machine!
I have MBA 16gb/256gb and here are my thoughts. It needs more ram, storage would be nice but I still have 100gb free of the 250gb but the 16gb is not enough in 2025! Sorry Tim but my Lenovo was less than my MBA and it came with 32gb DDR5, 1TB and best OLED 16" for around $1200 delivered to my door and its bloody-awesome! Still I keep my MBA in my bedroom for surfing and content as well as OZB shopping at 1am… Ai is going to quickly change the world and MEMORY is where apple can be left easily behind as the desktop just went for 64gb to 96gb and next year will get another 96gb and a better GPU and Im not alone.
FYI the new iPhones got a ram boost, the iPhone15 got 4gb, the iPhone16 got 6gb and the iPhone 17 got 8gb and the AIr/Max&Pro get 12gb… At the same time as even cheapo andiods get 12-16gb on even base models and now googles andriodOS has caught up with apple on memory management (as my TV can atest to with updates it now rocks and I cant justify a new one as its so fast now comaopred to the 3 years ago when I bought it)
And $1439 if you go apple refirbished (which often means new or returned) www.apple.com/au_edu_5000447/shop/refurbished/mac/2025-macbo…
mate, you are everywhere.
the new iPhone cost more than this ? how!
for something that i'll prob keep plugged into the wall 80% of the time, how is battery management on these? I havent used apple for the last 10yrs so havent kept up with the details.
I was recently reading on reddit that there is no need to use the apps that keep your battery at 80% or something as Apple has excellent battery management baked into MacOS.
Will it get cheaper for black friday sales?
Harvey Norman is selling for $30 less.
