Bollywood lol not interested in a dance routine every 15 minutes.

      • +6

        Tollywood but close.

        • Technically it might be Tollywood, but nobody outside of India uses that term. For people outside India, for all intents and purposes, "Bollywood" = Indian film.

do you know which song won oscar last year?

        • +3

          No

    • I don't go much to the cinema, but I had the best experience with Ne Zha2 (best animated ever+ #5 ever, likely moving to #1 after the English dub. I doubt Hoyts is screening in this period :(

      • +1

If you believe CCP published ticket figures. And no way will it be no. 1 - earnings have only gone up by $15M since the release of the English dub last month.

    • +2

Saw the movie today with my kids, I enjoyed it eventhough I've never seen the series.

  • Is there anything worth watching even on now?

  • +1

    Price goes back to 2008

    • +1

Tell me you’re old without telling me you’re old

      • +5

What do you mean? 2008 is only 5 years ago, isn't it?

        Isn't it???

    • -1

Yeah but the movies are far worse. That's nothing worth watching makes $8 still not worth it

  • +3

I saw "Splitsville" this week and really enjoyed it! Went it not knowing anything about it.

  • +3

Sweet, was planning to watch The Long Walk this weekend

    • +1

Literally the only thing I want to watch in cinemas lol

  • +1

If you liked the movie Barbarian, Weapons is in cinemas and supposedly quite good
Naked Gun was very silly fun and under 90 minutes
Splitsville supposed to be good too, and Caught stealing

    • +1

weapons is awesome, its also a great experience in a theater with a crowd

      • +1

        Weapons was brilliant

  • I was overseas when F4 came out and was going to wait for digital but this price is too good to pass up.

  • The Long Walk

  • Is the HOYTS free membership tier eligible for the $8 tickets?

I tried to signup but is asking me to pay $18 and I might have clicked the wrong membership type. I understand that there is also a $18 paid premium membership tier

    • +3

Yeh, $8 applies even without any Hoyts membership.

After entering your details the next step is selecting which membership, free or VIP @ $18.

  • Splitsville is a legit very funny film.

    $8 $9.75 Movie Tickets for September 13-14 @ HOYTS

Still a very good deal but per ticket booking fees need to be outlawed.

    • +3

      22% booking fee…. ridiculous isn't it!

      • +1

If you are bothered and want to risk not getting a seat that you want, you can 'book' while you're physically at the cinema and input the cinema code that's displayed on the showtimes display to avoid the booking fee

        • +1

I booked in advance last night in the cinema and was able to select our seats. Total came to $8.13 per ticket

    • Booking fee is a privilege you pay in advanced to book a seat, if you want to avoid that, go buy a ticket at the cinema.

      • -1

Interesting concept. And here I was thinking it was a fee to cover costs of providing the service, make a significant profit for the ticketing provider, and make it convenient for customers (at least some of whom wouldn't be bothered if they had to queue up and hope there were still seats available).

Presumably you'd be happy for all online purchases to attract a "booking fee" then? Alternatively businesses could tell you - and those who agree with your mantra - "[don't like it] go buy your product in store".

Leaving aside your ludicrous 'privilege' comment, the issue isn't about the fee per se but the amount of the per ticket fee. Elcrypto was (apparently) charged $0.13/ticket, I was charged $1.75. Go figure.

  • Thanks OP, taking whole family for a Sunday matinee.

  • +1

If you want to feel really old (or young again) some places are doing Toy Story 30th Anniversary

  • freakier friday anyone

  • Is it just me or the in-cinema code does not work for this deal?

    • I think that's for Uber One members. You can either use the self-serve kiosks or go to the counter to buy the tickets to avoid the booking fee.

  • Can stack with the refilled popcorn if that's still a thing and how much?

  • Thanks. I just booked a ticket for The Long Walk.
