    • Hey Alvian, thanks for doing that

also check out at bitesoft - significantly cheaper than invisalign

Thanks for sharing that. Just a quick note of caution: while some alternatives like Bitesee/Bitesoft may advertise lower prices, there are important differences to be aware of.

❌ Many of these options don’t involve full dentist supervision, which means subtle issues (like bite changes, gum health, or root alignment) may be missed.

❌ Often, scans or X-rays are not included – which are critical to safely planning orthodontic treatment.

❌ If something goes wrong, patients may end up paying more later for corrections.

      At our clinic:

✅ Every step is supervised directly by Dentist.

✅ We provide full diagnostic records upfront (scan, OPG, CBCT, photos, and exam – all free).

✅ Pricing is transparent and confirmed only after a comprehensive exam.

✅ Flexible payment options (ZipPay, Afterpay, Humm, SuperCare).

We’ve designed this offer so patients can have the peace of mind of dentist-led care, without hidden costs or risky shortcuts.

    • BiteSoft looks more expensive than this deal, from what I could see.

"Records are kept for internal purposes. If you wish to export your records to another clinic, a $300 fee applies. "

Only a dentist would consider this a "reasonable fee" a la Australian law, unless of course "Dr Sai" is transcribing them by hand and personally delivering images etc to your door.

      Hey Igaf,

Just to give a bit of context—our consultations and all record-taking (scans, x-rays, photos, exams) are provided completely free so patients can understand their options. We don’t charge for our time here.

The $300 fee only applies if someone chooses to take those records with them to another clinic. It’s simply to cover the work and resources that went into creating them.

      • +1

Don’t the fees you charge the patient cover the work and resources that went into creating their records?

        • +1

Hey, good question. The initial consultation and records are completely free – that includes the exam, scan, OPG, CBCT, and photos – with no obligation to proceed with treatment.

If a patient decides not to go ahead, they can still request copies of their records. In that situation, there’s a $300 admin fee to prepare and transfer everything to another clinic. This is just to cover the time and resources involved in exporting the data, since it’s created and stored for internal use.

If treatment is started with us, there’s no extra charge – everything is included in the package.

      • Thanks for clarifying here.
Seems you may be pushing the envelope. Scans, records etc are the property of a practice, however the only charge which can be legally applied should a patient request a copy of them is a reasonable cost of transfer. The fact that you may choose to provide a "free" initial consultation/images etc is irrelevant in determining that transfer cost. Given typical dental charges, I'd be happy to pay the $300 depending on what images are involved. Others may not be.

SuperCare (access your superannuation for treatment)

Is this related to the article recently where the group doing hundreds of dental services went broke after draining vulnerable patients super funds?

    Edit seems great:
    https://www.abc.net.au/news/2025-05-28/supercare-dental-and-…

    • Yes

Patients across the country have been left with no teeth and drained superannuation accounts after clinics run by a NSW company were placed into administration.

Dentists who worked for Supercare Dental and Cosmetics are now owed hundreds of thousands of dollars in unpaid wages and say the clinics were "predatory".

The situation is part of a broader trend, with the number of patients withdrawing superannuation to pay for dental work more than tripling in three years.

    • ust to clarify – SuperCare clinics and SuperCare as a service are two different things. SuperCare simply helps with the paperwork to access your superannuation for treatment. They don’t handle or control the funds – the money is deposited directly into the patient’s account.

Nothing against OP or this post, but orthodontist over a dentist is a must for braces/aligners. There is a big difference between the two.

    • Thanks for raising that – it’s a good point.

For clear aligners, whether mild, medium, or even severe cases, the outcomes are generally comparable whether managed by a dentist or an orthodontist, provided the case is properly assessed with full records (scan, OPG, CBCT, photos, and exam).

Where orthodontists really stand out is with traditional braces – particularly for very complex bite issues or cases that require more specialised mechanics.

One thing many people don’t realise in Australia is that orthodontists often have long waiting times, and in practice much of the day-to-day work (band-ups, debands, adjustments) is delegated to oral health therapists rather than the orthodontist themselves.

At our clinic, all aligner treatments are planned, supervised, and delivered by a dentist – so patients get dentist-led care without the delays or handoffs.

      • Thanks for sharing your thoughts, but I’d be very careful about wording here. Under the Dental Board of Australia’s advertising guidelines (s.133 National Law), comparative claims between dentists and orthodontists can easily drift into “misleading or deceptive” territory.

        To illustrate:

Let’s assess your key statements line by line:

“Outcomes are generally comparable whether managed by a dentist or orthodontist, provided the case is properly assessed with full records.”
        – Risk: Could be seen as misleading. Orthodontists have specialist training, and AHPRA considers suggesting equal outcomes without qualification to be potentially deceptive unless backed by peer-reviewed evidence. “Generally comparable” is vague and not objectively referenced.

“Where orthodontists really stand out is with traditional braces – particularly for very complex bite issues.”
        – Orthodontists can really stand out in clear aligners also. Orthodontics is still quite technique sensitive.

“In practice much of the day-to-day work (band-ups, debands, adjustments) is delegated to oral health therapists rather than the orthodontist themselves.”
        – Risk: High. This could be construed as denigrating orthodontists and misleading patients (they may infer they get less orthodontist time). Even if partly true, it generalises all orthodontists.

“At our clinic, all aligner treatments are planned, supervised, and delivered by a dentist – so patients get dentist-led care without the delays or handoffs.”
        – Risk: Comparative claim suggesting better/faster care. Unless backed by solid evidence, this could be misleading.

In short — even if you intended these points as general information, the phrasing exposes you to regulatory complaint risk. Safer phrasing would be:
        – Dentists can provide aligners within their scope of practice.
        – Orthodontists are the right referral point for braces or complex cases.
        – Care pathways should always be tailored to case complexity.

It’s not worth putting yourself under AHPRA scrutiny for wording.

  • I signed a contract a couple of weeks ago with a local ortho here in the ACT, for my 15 year old son. The cost is almost $12k :(

    • Cheaper to drive to Sydney monthly isn't it?

    • Yikes,
It really depends on how bad the correction is and how old they are - that being said 12k is defintely on the higher side.

  • Does anyone know or can recommend a dental clinic in Perth that is as transparent as the OP?

    • Is this inquiry specifically about aligners, or are you looking for a general dentist?

If it’s for a general dentist, I’d recommend Dr Darren Cai in Perth. He’s very well regarded and has even given lectures for our team in Sydney. Feel free to mention that you were referred by the Dentist Near Me staff.

You can check out his professional Instagram here:
Dr Darren Cai – Instagram https://www.instagram.com/dr.darrencai/?hl=en

It’s mainly for dentists and teaching content, but even so, he’s quite renowned in the field.

      • Hi and thanks for the info!

More interested in a dentist that could be recommended for aligners at this stage.
