++ have the 15 PM rn, too soon to upgrade. They fell back to aluminium, we'll see hardware issues this year. Next year might straighten those out.
My friend wants pro max, so I voted that. I have got a different new phone.
should add option "no plans for a new device"
Well that is the ‘back’ button or your browser.
16e from XS
Just made that upgrade myself actually
Significant improvement? What did you pay?
Just a little over $800 price beating at Officeworks. Definitely much snappier but the big improvement for me is the battery. Can get almost 2 days with my usage. The XS was at 76% battery health, a full day was tough.
hows no magsafe
Still death grip clutching my 13 Mini hoping they come to their senses.
same here, I got gifted a 15P but I still miss my old 12 mini every day :(
they said 'mini' weren't selling, so they made a 'plus' which still didn't sell…now they made an Air
Put the 'Air' internals in a mini chassis and ill order one right away.
the mini is great, i have a 13 mini for my 2nd phone.
I’ve still got a 12 Mini as my primary phone.
No need to upgrade, though battery health is now 87%.
Not upgrading but if I were to choose i'd go for the iPhone 17 (from my current iPhone 13 Pro Max).
The 17 has everything I need and I can't justify spending the extra for the Pro and its minimal differences.
Pro max in 256gb ozbargain orange
With the OzB logo engraved
I was thinking a discounted stickermule sticker decal
OzBargain Prime Premium Plus? My Stickermule bumper stickers of that was a blast at the meetups last year.
16 pro holding
pretty sure the air will be foldable
Pixel 11 Pro XL.
Foldable iphone next year.
That will be released the same year as the Macbook with touchscreen.
All iPhones are foldable if you are motivated enough
any phone just make sure it has spell check on Ricky
What Model Are People Planning on Buying?
iPhone 18
For you grandpa it’s iPhone 20
Im not, Was gonna but tbh it's extremely lacking, we dont even get the larger 5000mah battery in Australia since thats esim version only.
If the Air had the Pro Max camera, I'd want that. Imma wait for the 20th anniversary iPhone in 2027 though, 16 Pro Max will be more than enough until then.
Most techtubers said base iPhone 17 are probably the best value for money you could get for an iphone, so I think that model would be the most popular. Also PRO model will always be popular, because most Apple users don't really know what they are getting anyway they just want the most expensive model.
Not sure about the Air. Battery life would be concerning, limited camera capabilities, and the fact that its esim only is a bit troublesome if you are churning cheap sim plan.
My iPhone 8+ is still working perfectly. No reason to spend nearly $2000 on a phone!
True! Although I find battery doesn't last that long anymore, and my screen goes dark often when it overheats in summer. Does yours do that too?
I'm really tempted to get the Air, I like the slim, light design and big screen…
Impressed you’re getting by on an 8. Well done!
Honestly I’m probably leaning towards the Air. I have a 12 Pro that’s coming on 5 years and still works alright but the battery is trash, as you’d expect.
I’ve been hobbling with 0 battery for two years so I feel like the reduced battery of the air won’t bother me, and I like the idea of a lighter, thinner form factor in general use.
I don’t use my phone for photography, social media, or ‘heavy’ gaming (just crappy mobile games or ballatro, casually) so I don’t think any potential thermal issues will come into play, although that’s what I’m waiting to see from reviews.
It’s pretty much a vibes decision but eh. Might as well have fun with the device you’re gonna use daily for another 5 years.
The iphone 11 was the best phone of its time, now they are saying the iphone 17 pro/ max is the best phone upgrade since the 11 pro/ max. My first was the 7 then upgraded to 11 pro max the battery is slowing down but i am able to cope. Would i buy a 17 pro or a max the only difference is the battery life but now there is the AI with the phone now not an add on like last year, so will i buy or wait untill they remove the sim slot completely and get better battery life???
I don't buy new phones, but if I did, I'd want to get one of the 17 pro models for the telephoto lens.
8x is not telephoto
It's the equivalent of a 200mm lens - so yes it is.
https://www.apple.com/au/iphone-17-pro/specs/
48MP Fusion Telephoto: 100 mm (4x), ƒ/2.8 aperture, Hybrid Focus Pixels, 3D sensor‑shift optical image stabilisation and autofocus, tetraprism design
Also enables 12MP optical-quality 8x Telephoto: 200 mm, ƒ/2.8 aperture
So, 12 MP if you want 8x telephoto, otherwise 48 MP for 4x telephoto. In my opinion, under 20 MP is more than enough for most people unless if you want to print billboard size.
Replaced a 13 with a 16 this year. Can’t really tell any difference aside from a bit more battery life. Think I will stay with the 16 for a while.
Sorry but why would you expect a difference going from a base model to another base model? You would feel more difference even if you went to a 13 Pro Max than you would with a 16 base.
iPhone 17 base model looks like a decent upgrade this year.
256GB storage + 120Hz display, I would be all over it if I was in the market for a new phoneRemember OzBargain isn't representative of the general public as it's generally a function over form community. iPhone Air is the least popular here but it will be the one you see the most in real life.
I agree with the sentiment that ozbargainers aren't representative of general consumers though I'm not so sure about Air being the most popular.
The Air is the most interesting but it does have some real downsides that impact "general" users like less camera features and smaller battery.
Also a lot of people like to use cases with their phones and while there are cases for the Air, it really negates the main appeal. This is going to be so interesting to see - the Air doesn't make sense to me at all, Galaxy Edge I assume has been selling poorly given they're getting so heavily discounted. Yet you're totally right, this is going to sell well. It's a new form factor iPhone after so many years.
iPhone Air for meeting high value clients.
iPhone Pro Max for work.
It's a high-yield investment really
Whoever is paying that much for a smartphone in 2025 is a muppet
downvoted by some scrub but you're right.
if ever there was an ozbargain dictatorship they'd make a list from the people in these forum posts and instaban them from the site :D
its iPhone 17 pro max 2TB or its nothing, go big or go home
13 pro and holding till 19 at least. might get a new battery when it goes below 80%. currently at 85%. With the way I use, I still get all day battery.
Still holding on to 13 pro as well. At this rate of minuscule updates, I might need to hold on to it till 23 for it to feel a worthwhile purchase.
I was considering upgrading to the iPhone 17 Pro, but I've decided against it. The camera and bigger battery are nice, but I'll wait another year for the 18 Pro.
