Where Do People Buy Badminton Racquets? and Recommend Me a Racquet (Intermediate Level)

Hi, I've seen some threads about buying racquets but they're 3+ years old now.

Where I can get genuine racquets cheaply? especially with any OzBargain methods like coupons or gift cards. I've seen very cheap ones on AE which I must assume are counterfeit. Are the ones on amazon legit?

I'm an mainly an intermediate level singles player and I dabble in doubles. I'm looking to spend $150-200. At ~$30 a restring I thought it was about time to get something decent.
I am also introducing beginners and would also be interested where they should look for racquets too.

Thanks for reading.

badmintonclick if you are in melbourne, otherwise most online shops are roughly the same price for most racquets.

Astrox game or Nanfloflare game series Yonex racquets would be in your budget

AE are fakes, especially at those prices. Amazon should be legit, but you can return it easily if they aren't.

Astrox 88D great for singles and doubles.

astrox 99 great for singles with tons of power for smashes and easy clears

arcsaber 11 or 7 - great all around racquet.

your going to need a head-heavy or balanced racquet. Yonex is the best, but Victor and Li-Ning are good too. Yonex typically goes play, game, tour, then pro.

    play are made in China
game and tour are made in Taiwan i think
    pro from Japan.

if you have sweaty hands, get a towel grip.

low string tension for power and a bigger sweet spot
high string tension for control and a smaller sweet spot. easier to break strings, especially on miss hits.

    • low string tension for power and a bigger sweet spot

      How low? I’m at 26

24-26ish is a good balance of both.

27+ advanced players and replace strings more often.

unfortunately badminton rackets are going to be very similar pricing everywhere.

You may get lucky and have intermediate rackets at reduced prices (approx the $100-150 mark?), but definitely the top of the range rackets are all the same price 240++.

If you play at a proper badminton court, buy from there or the local badminton shop to support local businesses.
    Where are you based?

    • My club is a non business that rents courts at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre , so they don't sell racquets. But I can goto any Brisbane local shop. Just don't really know what are the best shops here.

  • I bet people are selling these all the time on Marketplace. You probably won't save enough money though to justify driving around the city inspecting rackets.

    • I was going to say FB Marketplace too, I had a look sometime back and see listings quite regularly posted. You'll be taking a risk though whether they're genuine or fakes.
