Not an Australian seller, selling a product that's not Australia. Doesn't belong on OzBargains…

To be fair if I was going overseas I wouldn't be trying to use an AU SIM card for data, because it's not going to work unless I spend big bucks on roaming. That's what these cheap overseas SIM cards are for.

      • Most of the time I just by a sim card locally in the country which is much cheaper.

But i think Japan is one of the few counties in asia where a sim card for foreigners is expensive when purchased there.

        • Yep that's another option. A general rule of thumb is to avoid the airport sellers as they're often more expensive.

Yep airport 100%. Somewhere like BIC Camera may have deals going and they can send them to your hotel.

        • Also china 🇨🇳 I think

@Angelscrap: When Im in china i just use roaming.

I Actually dont need a VPN when i roam with Optus which is interesting.

Also much safer than using a local china carrier for spying reasons.

            • @SpeedRunnerLink: I don't think it's safer, coz when roaming, all your data still goes through a local carrier network.

Sure, but there are literally hundreds if not thousands of these eSIM sellers now days, all selling the exact same product, just re-branded. Based in random countries around the world (this one is apparently Singapore, but has a US whatsapp number as a contact?)

At the moment one or two a week seem to find this site and post here - what happens when more and more do that? Just let them keep posting?

if the price is getting better and better, then… that's great no? and if the price isn't getting better then it'll get downvoted. isn't that how ozbargain works?

        • At the moment one or two a week seem to find this site and post here - what happens when more and more do that? Just let them keep posting?

Well, yes? Are we not about finding deals? Am I missing something, or are you missing something?

If it sucks, then neg it to indicate that it's not a good deal. But they're not breaching the posting guidelines are they? If they are, then you might be onto something and you should report it.

But I'm pretty sure nothing you've pointed out is in breach of the posting guidelines. Yes - even if it sucks, it's still "eligible to be posted". Just do your part as a community member and neg it if it sucks, and point out shady things about the deal or company.

selling a product that's not Australia

What does the "oz" from "Ozbargain" represent? Why would we need eSIMs for travelling Australia, when it would be safe to assume the vast majority of us here live in Australia, and therefore don't need travel eSIMs for Australia?

@illumination: oz from ozbargain represents the abbreviation of the imperial measure of weight - ounce.

Ozbargain started in the 1960s during the hippie days and was the central website for buying cheap weed.

$25 for 20GB in New Zealand seems like a pretty good deal, does anyone have any experience or opinions on this?

  • Cheaper here:
    https://au.trip.com/things-to-do/detail/53369178
$10.90 for 10GB in Europe for 30 days

Look on esimdb dot com and add your search parameters to find something any time that's cheaper than any 'deal' you find on ozbargain.

    • +2

If you need to type out dot to avoid linking to the website, there no chance I’m going on that website hahaha

    • while its true that lately the travel esim deals on ozb are more than what you can find on the esimdb site, there were some 100% CB deals before, e.g. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/867669, which were pretty good.
