Just saw these new plans posted on Whirlpool. Unfortunately they only a few POPs (Sydney, Melbourne?) at present if low pings matter to you.

IPv4 only with a Static IP address and IPv6 is not available.

No CG-NAT.

Carbon Comms is excited to announce the launch of three new HyperFast NBN plans:

HyperFast (HFC) 2000/100Mbps – $150/month
HyperFast (FTTP) 2000/200Mbps – $150/month
HyperFast Plus (FTTP) 2000/500Mbps – $195/month

These plans will be available to order starting 25th September 2025.

Notes
1. Contact Carbon Comms if you want the nbn FTTP 4-port NTD instead of the nbn FTTP 1-port NTD.
2. For 2000Mbps: Buy a compatible router with 2.5GbE RJ45 WAN and 2.5GbE RJ45 LAN ports and check that your computer has a 2.5GbE RJ45 port.

  • i reckon you could do HyperFast (HFC) 2000/100Mbps for $130

The ISP would only make $15/month per 2000/100 at $130. $115/month goes to nbn.

      • -2

why do they need to make anymore?

        • +7

Because if they don't profit a reasonable amount from it, they have no reason to keep providing the service.

Maybe you should redirect your focus to why the NBN is charging $115 to begin with

        • +1

The price they pay NBNCo doesn't include the actual connection to the internet or into the NBN PoP's so they need to allow margin for that.

        • +1

They also have to manage and pay for IP transit / peering / fibre to NBN PoI / etc. It's quite a decent deal them charging only $35 for all that.

A large ISP can usually access peering directly themselves and not need to pay anywhere near as much for peering via a third party (ie Vocus), and their fibre to PoI likely has enough overhead already to support the occasional download at 2Gbps already without any noticeable performance impact, but companies of that size are there to make large profits so you won't see better deals from them…

Absolute lowest would be around $145 except for sign up bonuses at an effective loss.

    • Link to provider?

      • Not for $130/m. $150/m is the cheapest.

    • +1

The issue is the static ip I think. They are new hence only why I suspect they can do static at 150. As soon as they get more customers they will switch to cgnat to avoid ipv4 exhaustion. In which case old customers get to keep static and new customers need to vpn for private home stuff to deal with cgnat.

      • For HTTPS / SSH / RDP, Cloudflared is a free reverse proxy.

Install it on home network server, then setup URLs for each thing you want to access. Add Zerotrust to keep things secure (at minimum email OTP)

        • I am a Unifi pleb so probs tailscale for me. That is if I switch from my more telco static ip connection.

  • +1

Carbon routes all your traffic to Sydney and you can get higher latency. IPv4 only and IPv6 is not available.

Good deal for those in NSW or if the above doesn't matter to you.

    • +1

Agreed. They said that POPs for other cities should be online with 12 months. This is a new price low price point for these plans. Interested to see what Superloop announce.

      • Yeah Carbon are waiting on Aussie BB (their supplier) however no launch date for more PoPs.

  • Interested in bundling Mobile with these guys, anyone keen to share if they have as well and if they have a roaming pack for international travel? Believe they are with Telstra but havent seen anything with a quick scan on the website.

  • Anyone in NSW have some speed tests from these guys your willing to share?

    Who has cheapest 1000/400?
Still superloop business for $130? ($145 after 6 months)

$195 a month for 500mbps upload is brutal.

    • +1

Superloop business is good if you have an ABN.

      nbn FTTP 1000/400.
      $5.50/day (was $6.40/day), about $165/month @ Launtel.
      $150/month ongoing @ Aussie BB.
      $135/month for 12 months ($145/month ongoing) @ Leaptel.

Launtel, Leaptel and Aussie BB don't ask for an ABN.

Leaptel and Aussie BB include a Static IP.
