300

Just moved house and needed to pick up some gardening gear, came across this deal at Bunnings.

The Makita 18Vx2 Brushless Lawn Mower Kit DLM464PT2 is currently down from $849 to $763.38.

The kit itself includes:

  • Lawn mower
  • 2x 18V 5.0Ah batteries
  • Dual port fast charger

On top of that, there are 2 promos running:

  • Free in-store bonus: Makita DUB184Z 18V brushless blower (RRP ~$270)
  • Online redemption: Extra 2x BL1850B 18V 5.0Ah batteries (RRP ~$329)

So altogether you get:
✅ 1x Lawn mower
✅ 4x 5.0Ah batteries
✅ 1x Dual port fast charger
✅ 1x 18V brushless blower

Total value over $1,700 for just $763.38 – pretty insane value!

I actually bought it on Father’s Day for $849 and thought it was already decent, but now it’s even cheaper… not sure if Bunnings will let me claim the price difference but might try my luck.

Actually better value yesterday with https://www.bunnings.com.au/campaign/redemption-gift-card, $849 with the same bonus but plus $150 giftcard.

    • Just came back from Bunnings and get my receipt price matched, but them won’t do gift card atm :(

    • Shame that the makita campaign at Bunnings didn't get posted on OzB. Otherwise I would have bought a new mower to replace my 9 year old Makita

Got this for a bit less with the extra 2x batt, no blower… I have 54V DeWalt anyway. Good deal for this price inc blower but never worth $1700 value its always been around $800 or less. Great mower with a central grass chute that doesn't get clogged so easily.

    • interested where you go it!? I have a blower from another redemption and cbb having to try and sell another one.

  • Is it similar to Ego? Been thinking about upgrading from Ozito.

    • I have been used for a week, so far very good. I have been heard that ego is good but too pricey from Sydney tools.

    • EGO probably has more grunt, but the Makita 18V batteries last a lot longer as they do active cell balancing. My batteries are 9 years old and are still going strong! I have 9 such batteries and none of them have failed. Too bad you can't say the same for Milwaukee, Ryobi and EGO batteries.

  • Looking for a mower that I can load into my Prado every 2 weeks to cut someone else's lawn. Currently don't have any Makita gear but are in both Ryobi and DeWalt ecosystems.

For those who own this Makita mower, any thoughts on the weight? And how close is the blade to the deck?

    • The one I got is heavy due to the material case, if u are already with ryobi, their mover is light and foldable, my Makita need to unscrew to disassemble, definitely not a good idea if u need to put into a suv

      • Yes, so I'm leaning towards the OLM1840 which is mid-sized and quite light, runs 2 batteries for slightly extra performance. Current Ryobi is a 33cm (bought 2nd hand off marketplace) which was meant to be an interim mower when the old Bosch electric broke down.

So now with the recent Milwaukee, DeWalt and now this Makita mower deals, I'm just wondering if it was better to spend just a bit more to get a better mower. i.e. buy the deal and sell off the redemptions as I have the rest, just need a mower.

  • This + some Makita line trimmer

Things going for Makita are these bonus batteries are really good value and the mower goes down to 20mm (vs 25mm on the Ryobi). But the sub $400 Makita line trimmers only have a 30cm cutting width vs up to 38cm on the Ryobi.
