How do you want to receive Office 365 University?

I have decided I want to buy Office 365 University, since it costs only $99 for 4 years, for 2pcs, which is a much better deal than the 1pc stand alone, that I'd buy every 3 years.

But, should I select to ship it, or to download it. Choosing shiping doesn't seem to increase the cost, but I do want to download it immediately. So, if I choose to ship it, will I be able to download it as well, or, if I choose to download it, will I be able to ship it later? Or will I need to order backup media, which costs an unspecified fee…

  • just download it and burn it. or download it next time you need it

  • How do you want to receive Office 365 University?

I want to receive Office 365 University from a squad of cheerleaders, pulling a sled with a bunch of kittens on it and bringing chocolate and donuts. Also a glass of milk. Also the Beatles to introduce it to me, through the medium of song. Preferably in the late afternoon when I've just woken up from a nap.

Is there an option for that?

  • I'd still honestly prefer the normal Office University retail package, that you can install on 2 PCs and they last forever…unlike this subscription.

    • I thought retail was 1 PC, and anyway, I usually use the latest Office, so I'd buy a new one every 3 years.

  • Going from the thumbnail photo on that page, it says "Product Key inside - No Disk"

It sounds like what they're offering to post you out is the product key on a piece of cardboard, not installation disks or the like.

I'd probably just go with the download option and save the key in your email.

    • Ha, that would be funny. I don't think so though. I might select download, and then maybe order backup disks…

      • I don't think so though

Alanl is right, it supposedly going to be download only. Office 2013 available now: Microsoft ditches DVDs in push for cloud subscriptions - The Verge

        • I know 365 is a cloud product, and I know that the retail boxes contain the key only (you could do the same thing with Office 2010, and I think even Office 2007). But I didn't think selecting shipping it would give me just a box with a key. Surely they would remove the option to ship it if its the exact same thing that you get with Download option. Although, maybe the box would be a nice thing to have (as long as you get the key in an email as well).

        • I don't understand your problem… Can't you just download and burn a backup to a CD, or re-download if its necessary?

        • I don't have a problem, of course I can burn a backup CD, but if they're sending branded DVDs for no extra cost I may as well get it, saves me one CD, and I get an official disk, rather than a home-made copy.

        • But I didn't think selecting shipping it would give me just a box with a key.

Well, presumably this is why they're not charging you anything extra to ship it. They're probably just putting it in an envelope with a $0.60 stamp on it - it's not like they're paying to print and distribute CDs and putting them in pretty boxes to ship out like they would if you were ordering the backup media.

        • Why not? Microsoft Store currently has free shipping for everything.

    • I'd buy that if I could. Too bad Uni students don't get it (except maybe a couple of rare exceptions). As a matter of fact if I could get that, I'd have bought it a long time ago.

  • +1

Nothing beats FREE Win7SP1 Ultimate/Professional 32/64 bit and Office 2012 PC/Mac 32/64 bit from Si Group a few months back with valid email address. I have 2 school kids so I got 2 sets of each!!

    • That would have been excellent, too bad I never heard of the deal - so you can probably upgrade to Office 2013 for free as well. Nice.
