      What's the story mate ?

      • +17

Mwave Has Been Placed into Administration and Acquired by digiDirect

Took them 8 weeks to send me my order of parts and it was 3 seperate deliveries.

        • +4

They were also in the midst of moving.

@Munki: Might've been the case, but created a poor customer experience. I got $250 mwave dollars and it took 2 weeks just to get the switch I redeemed through those.

@geekcohen: Yeah I guess it must've been a pretty frustrating experience. I hope they operate a lot better under DigiDirect…

  • How much of a performance difference is there compared to the 9070XT Nitro+ ?
I'm considering the Nitro+, but this Pulse is too tempting at this price point.

5% to 10% different. But Pulse is an entry-level card; it is hotter than most of the other 9070xt. But it is still fine to use. I was after the 9070xt pure, it is better than this Pulse and at a similar price. I have been looking for it for a while. But I jumped to the 9070 Nitro+ deal. the lowest price I saw for 9070XT Nitro+ is $1299 and for 9070XT pure is $1099. I didn't buy the $1099 pure as I thought the seller is a bit doggy, I am afraid it is hard to deal with them if I received a 9070 instead of 9070xt.

This is a recent video comparing the 9070xt

Look at the noise normalised thermals

        • +3

Pulse clock speed is also low compared with other cards

    • +1

and also 9070 XT Pulse was $1099 before you can stack with gift card for further discount. the 9070 XT Pure lowest price on ebay was $1160, it is better to buy 9070 XT Pure or 9070 xt Hellhound. The Hellhound is better than Pulse. Hellhound was $1099 many times

unless you're planning on doing a lot of overclocking and need the headroom, or really love the aesthetics of the Nitro+, its generally not worth the extra $$$

    • +1

Once you pay the huge premium for the Nitro+ you are pretty close to RTX 5070Ti territory and just better off buying that, unless you can find the Nitro+ for sale second hand somewhere it's not really worth it.

    • +1

Cheapest seems to be about another $200 for the Nitro+ so not really worth it.

    Low end? Wow

    • +5

Lower end of the 9070xt models, not a low end card

      • I got it, but this card is mid end. Massive triple cooler.

        • regardless of it's size and cooler config it's one of the hotter running cards in the 9070XT family… it runs a little hotter than my Reaper according to Hardware Unboxed review. All within the specs though but yeh as one of the posts above mentions it won't have a lot of thermal headroom to overclock etc etc

          • @scud70: That's because the fans are running at lower speed.

            • +1

@Dienk: Possibly… i don't remember the full review, but HUB do noise normalised as well so they typically get the cards around the similar fan curves, i know my reaper fans (stock fan curve) don't spin up enough to get the card to cool down to where it can boost higher, in my SFF build i placed a couple of fans under it and that's made a huge difference (aside from adjusting the fan curve of the card), i can undervolt it more and the it's boosting to 3.1ghz vs around the 2.8/2.9 before.

At this price though i would definitely go for the pulse (my 6800XT was a Pulse :) ) .. they do need to be tuned and out of box aren't as optomised as the more "premium" cards.

  • Dilemma need a new GPU as my 6800 (not xt) died. Only play 1440p. Is it worth going this or fine with 9060 xt 16gb or is there a better option for a GPU around the 9060 price.

    • +1

9060XT can handle 1440p just fine and the value proposition of that card is def higher than 9070XT however the 9060XT raster perfomance is maybe on par or just slightly higher than 6800 so not a real upgrade, it does also depend on the fps you want to target at 1440p as well… so if your monitor is a high refresh rate 1440p panel then your more likely to hit those high refresh rates with a 9070XT.

There's a lot to unpack though lots of it depends scenrios lol .. like how old are the rest of your components etc etc,

As for better options you can check out some Nvidia cards if you want DLSS and some of those features but FSR4 is basically just as good or close enough, i don't know if there are any good deals on nvidia cards and they are definitely not as good value wise as the AMD deals currently posted on OzB… i own a Reaper 9070XT but i like story based games and play on a ultra wide 1440p display or my 4k tv, i'm really happy with the card though and i upgraded from a 6800XT, but this is easily the most i've ever spent on a computer part so if you don't have the money then i wouldn't stretch the finances to get to this price level and the 9060XT is def a good enough card.

Currently running an i7 14th gen. I do prefer a quality experience with 1440p so lower frame rates give me the shits (like hanging around 40). I guess the other part would be how future proof a 9060 is compared to the 9070

        • The 9070 will definitely have longer legs than the 9060 (no tech product is technically future proof imo) … 14th gen CPU is fine for a while to come.
