Cheers for the info. I really should make the tiny effort to create an AMZN biz account. Great prices considering 4-pack ATL was generally ~$10.

          • @xwx: Amazon Business now on backorder to 1st October but still available to purchase :)

            • @I Smell Pennies: I can't imagine how long it take to go through 18x 4-packs. I forget one in the tub every time I go through airport security, so this helps.

Amazon (non business) has now put a limit of 1 per person

    • +1

They seem to have a rate-limit that kicks in when huge volumes start selling of heavily discounted items (price-matched by a scraper?). Sometimes the limit gets updated / or stock replenished after some time (I guess a manual review by category team member). I don't think this one will though. There is plenty of stock across BigW stores, but no AMZN biz pricing.

Not sure who reported as expired sold out, both still available at BigW.

    • +2

I’m in Melbourne and I can’t add either to the cart.

      • ok, thanks for the insight, appreciate the clarification and help for people.

[noting I'm not sure whom made the report]
Perhaps, rather than reporting something as expired / sold out if one is unfortunately unable to obtain, may I suggest to make a specific comment in the thread regarding unavailability of either / both in certain specific store, city, or perhaps even whole State (that you tried), unless you've also run a check across multiple other States and cities. For example, when the 'expired / sold out' report was made, I ran a quick check myself and was still more than 40 stores with stock across multiple States. Unfortunately they were probably not your local / nearby stores, but still plenty available for people :)

Also, as of just now, there are still 5+ stores in wider Melbourne (within 40km of 3000) with stock & add-cart option for both items (1 is more available than the other).

So, you may simply need to click the BigW options to change your store and select from one that has stock available.

        • I didn’t make the report.

What is Amazon Business? Is it free to join? Been seeing a few deals posted with that now.. 🤔

      • Tell me too

      • +1

It's free, you need an ABN, only really useful for bulk or if you have an actual business and want to separate spendings, plus they got some approval processes for employees orders.

Cosmetics generally have a quality / health best before time frame. Eventually they will spoil, or worse yet become contaminated (comparable to food going off, or becoming host to nasty bacteria). It varies by manufacturer and type of product, and the container, storage conditions etc. They also have a ## months use by / dispose after opening.

There are plenty of websites that will decode the batch code / ID for you to give some guidance on whether product is likely to be: still good, or maybe getting questionable, or probably best to not use. Some of them you really need to be very careful, especially stuff like eye drops for example, but same principles for other products.

Go buy dermal therapy original balm instead, actually works. I won't specifically badmouth these ones, but most lip balms can make things worse. Or don't help for long at best.

    • hehe lip balm, badmouth. 🙂

    • +2

No lip balms are good for long term use, they don't fix any underlying issue and can make things worse.
Lip balms can condition you to want the short term feeling of smooth lips at the expense of other solutions.

Your lips are still dry under the lip balm, the lip balm can prevent your lips absorbing moisture from the environment and it also doesn't actually give any moisture to your lips.

Lip balms often contain a preservative, flavor, or fragrance that irritates the lips. The more you apply the irritant, the more chapped your lips feel. Botanically, the barrier formed by the ointment stops the water loss causing the discomfort. But with continual application, you’re applying the preservative, fragrance, or flavor that’s causing the problem. So when you apply more lip balm to get immediate relief, you’re also exacerbating the problem.

This starts the lip balm “addiction” cycle. The chapsticks that contain these ingredients sooth the lips temporarily but cause irritation in the long term.
