OptiComm FTTP 2000/200 $179/Month, 4000/100 $239/Month (Selected Locations) @ Connected Australia

140

Came across this while looking into multi-gig options on OptiComm. Connected Australia appears to be the only ISP (at least officially listed on OptiComm’s provider list) that currently offers these high-speed tiers:
• 2000/200 Mbps – $179/month
• 4000/100 Mbps – $239/month

Assuming OptiComm will arrange an XGS-PON NTD upgrade if required.

I haven’t personally used Connected Australia, so I can’t comment on their reliability or support. Just wanted to share in case others are interested - and would also love to hear if anyone here has experience with them.

    4000/100 $23/Month

    Slow down my friend!

    • lol was scared by the numbers

    • That's a deal!

  • is there a zero missing in the 23 bit?

    • 9 is missing, it's supposed to be $239

      • sorry, updated

  • Jesus $239 per month!!

  • How’s 4000/100 available when NBN doesn’t provide such a plan?

    • +6

It uses the Opticomm network not the NBN.

Honestly, I'm not sure OptiComm can reliably support that speed.

      • I had an issue with Opticomm a few months ago. I have a 1000 Mb plan but was receiving 30 Mb or less. After three months, they fixed it. I believe they changed the OLT, and before that it was probably the old OLT from Telstra Velocity. Now I can easily get 931 Mb.

      • Same, but that's based on when I worked with them (not for them) about 8 years ago and most of their estates had backhaul issues - hopefully they've picked up their game since.

        • As a current customer my connection has been down for 6 days for the last 6 weeks. Have been advised it is a backhaul issue…..

        • I'm currently thinking about installing starlink as my priority is a reliable connection.

  • Anyone knows what model of NTD they are using for the XGSPON?

    2029 we will have 10,000/100 plans :)

    • +1

Mate we'd be lucky to have 4000/100 by 2029 at the rate nbn rolls out its speed upgrades.

      • I'd cry if I still see the 100 upload as the main stream plan in 2029

    • the swiss do 25gig for like 120 aud 😅

  • +1

I find it interesting that the upload is less on the 4000 plan compared to the 2000 plan

    • I guess the 2000 plan is meant to match NBN, while the 4000 plan is Opticomm’s own offering.

  • Nbn 4000 or even faster speed js already available in most European countries or the US…come on Nbn!!

    • +1

NBN isn't available in any other country at all.

    • Was shocked when my airbnb host in Croatia gave me 10mbps/1mbps.

    • +1

I mean 8000/8000 is available to most households in New Zealand for less than 4000/100 here….

Here I am still sucking a golf ball through a hose on FTTN

    • Have you been checking weekly for your FTTP upgrade eligibility ?

nice find.. i have signed up

    • What about the NTD and modem/router? I can't seem to find any modem router that has 2.5gbps WAN port to take advantage of 2000/200 plan.

      • I have BE19000 Tri-Band Wi-Fi 7 Router with 10 Gbps WAN port. They have told me that they have raised a request to change my current NTD

        • Thank you for that, but I am little confused, do we not need the modem and router or router alone is fine?
do you mind telling me where did you purchased that router from?

    • +2

Hey . I am interested in getting the 2000/200 plan as well.
Would you mind keeping us updated on how it goes?
      1. How long does it take opticom to come and do the NTD update?
      2. Do they charge you for the NTD update? If yes, how much?
      3. And what kind of speeds do you actually achieve at the end?

      Thanks in advance!

  • I need higher upload speeds. When are they coming? I upload a lot of 4K videos for subscribers and a huge pain point has been uploading content online… some of the videos are over 200-400gb for 1-2 hour video clip.

I haven’t even begun to consider an editor as the upload time would have been too annoying to deal with.

Not sure if your post is a troll one but just in case it ksnt. There are business plans for around the $200 per month mark that has 1000mbps+ upload speeds on FTTP. Mentioning it because it sounds like you have a successful business making some decent cash and need it.

You gotta shop around and have a chat with your ISP. They don't advertise the high upload speed options as 99.99% of the population will be fine on 100mbps upload at most.

      • +1

        I wasn't trolling and thank you!! <33

      • To my knowledge max upload on nbn FTTP is 500mbit/s (on the 2000/500 plan) and 400mbit/s on Opticomm (on the 1000/400 plan). I don't think they will offer gigabit upload over GPON, you need nbn enterprise ethernet for that.

  • anyone got stats on how fast one can download porn with the 4000/100 plan?

  • +1

Does it cost to have NTD upgraded?

Do they lock you in or anything?

  • Be careful. I'm with Opticomm FTTP and checking with their live chat, they have said "The availability of those plans are not the same with all of the addresses. Once you place an order, we still need to double check them." and when I asked where those speeds were possible "This is a new offer only and we haven't encountered an address yet with the max speed of 4000 mbps. We will have an updated list from Opticomm as soon as possible"

From a more reputable ISP when I asked why they can't do the same: "Being 100% transparent, they either have some under the table deal with Opticomm or blatantly lying about speeds. We have spoken in length with Opticomm on this as they barely manage to get customers up to 1gig speeds and they are at least 2-3 years away from making Multigig happen as their infrastructure is not even reliably gigabit across most of Australia"
