    In before the mallow man!!

They've become a meme, and their shitty opinion entirely irrelevant. Seems that part hasn't been recognised yet.

        • +3

I'm actually curious which vendor is offering a 9800x3d with a 5080, 64gm ram, and 4tb for less than 3k

@ilikeblue: You do understand you don't have to go with a vendor right? 64 GB RAM can be obtained for ~$170, 4 TB for ~$250, 850W for ~$150, 9800X3D for ~$600, and an RTX 5080 for ~$1700 right?

            • +5

@marshmall0w2: You've shown your hand a bit here - are all your baseless value judgments actually drawn from the cost of sourcing parts individually & building these computers from scratch? Are you just against prebuilts on principle?

              • @InfiniteWee:

                1. You can source individually

                2. You can buy pre-built if it's a good deal

Dunno why people find this hard to grasp. I was downvoted for saying an 7800X3D + RTX 5080 for $3k - $3.4k is a bad deal, only to be proven right in a month where 9800X3D + RTX 5080 deals started cropping up. I personally find a better deal of a pre-built 9800X3D + RTX 5080 around ~$2799 makes more sense.

Furthermore, you do understand that B650 boards + their Biwin/Team RAMs/SSDs are very cheap right? PSU is also cheap and you don't even need to spend ~$150 as I mentioned.

@InfiniteWee: If you want my end philosophy, OzBargain isn't supposed to be a marketing blast for these PC builders. It's supposed to be a deals website. A good way to think about this is if someone like evatech dropped their 7800X3D + RTX 5080 from say $3.4k to $2.4k because it goes on clearance.

The idea is rather than to "make profit" as always claimed, the idea is much simpler: to actually post deals. For example, AliExpress, Amazon, Kmart, Anaconda, Macpac, etc deals are posted as actual deals. They're not "marketing blast" that take advantage of OzBargainers.

                • @marshmall0w2: They hated him because he told them the truth.

                • @marshmall0w2:

OzBargain isn't supposed to be a marketing blast for these PC builders.

Marketers are welcome on OzBargain as long as they identify as such and the community deems them good value.

The idea is rather than to "make profit" as always claimed

We support good businesses making good profit from good deals.

                  advantage of OzBargainers.

They're welcome to take advantage of us as we take advantage of their deals.

Welcome to modern OzBargain, bye bye traditional puritans.

@marshmall0w2: Where do you get your prices from? Genuinely curious, as I want to buy some parts but cheapest I see a 9800X3D for is 699.

              • +1

@mikkeyg: Maybe look up every part on OzB itself as a starter. Type in search "4TB" title only sort by date category deal. 9800X3D AliExpress cashback + min spend discount gets you ~$600. Most pre-built PC builders source from warehouse distribution like Ali anyway.

                • +1

@marshmall0w2: Thanks, I think you missed the part where the OP asked about vendors specifically.

If you really want to split hairs, you're also not calculating the time spent to assemble a desktop and testing the desktop, or cable management.

Also regarding the 9800x3d price specifically, don't you still have to pay gst to ship from AliExpress? Cheapest price I could find after discount was about 630aud~, after gst it's basically 700aud again

                  • +1

@ilikeblue: If it's vendor, then probably techfast. Ali is with GST/tax included in the deal. The $630 is with tax.

                    Takes 30 minutes lol.

                    • @adehmar: Wow, you're telling me it takes you 30 mins to assemble the PC, have decent cable management, and running a CPU/GPU stress test?

Maybe you should apply as a consultant for these tech companies and teach them your secrets.

                      • @ilikeblue: You're making it sound like there's some expertise and years of experience required for this. In reality it's very simple. Trying to pretend this is a complex matter is silly. Installing a bunch of components takes 30 minutes, and lol if you think they do any stress test.

                        • @adehmar: Putting components in half hour if you're an experienced builder? Sure I can agree with that, but if you're telling me you can do decent cable management and not just jam everything at the back of the desktop in half hour let's say I'm sceptical.

@marshmall0w2: where to get a 4tb ssd for $250 please?

is the ram definitely 6400 CL32? - Specs not listed
and will you allow, colleciton of the all the boxes and accessories (ie graphic card, GPU, and Motherboard, AIO) if the machine is picked up in person?

Just confirmed the part number—it's definitely 6400 CL32, and the boxes you mentioned will be available when you pick it up.
      Thanks,
      Nero

    • hmmm.. nice..
usually buy from evatech…but they are only open during weekdays for pickup…
and you guys are little closer.. I think if its Clayton..

Last question, do you have a shopfront / location … or opening times for pickup.. (can't find it on your website).
is it the same as your Gala Esports Centre..

      • At the moment our main store doesn’t handle pickups directly — all pickups are through the Gala Esports in Clayton, which is open 24/7, so you can collect at whatever time is convenient.

And a little heads-up: we’re opening a new Gala Esports location in Box Hill around the end of September, so there may be another pickup option available soon.

        Thanks,

As keen and overdue for an upgrade as I am (gtx1080 / i7 6700k) I think I'll hodl for another 3 months and hope the supers come out with more vram.

Looks like a good deal though - will be keen for something similar with a 5080 Super in a few (hopefully) months :)

    • I'm trying to hold off for the same thing, lets hope the super comes out by the end of the year!

  • From latest I saw supers aren't coming till 2026
To buy now or hodl abit more…

    • New tech is always just around the corner. Either your current set up meets your needs or you need an upgrade now.

  • Does it come with a Ryzen 7 or 9 ?

    • This build comes with the Ryzen 7 9800X3D

      Thanks,
      Nero @ GalaPower

  • The era of diy pcs are pretty over when deals like this exist. No chance of making it close to this price.

    • Agreed,
I have been building my own computers for the last 32 years now.. and enjoy it
However in the last 3 years.. I have bought so many prebuilts… instead.

      CPU roughly $799
      Motherboard $220
      Videocard $1750
      total $2769.

For $180 more (ie total of $2949), "Free 32gb ram, 1tb SSD, Powersupply, Case" it gets built and tested and comes with a three year warranty… and I can pick up all the boxes for the parts are confirmed above..

  • The picture shows a RGB GPU holder bracket but its not mentioned in the article - is this included @GalaPower??

    • I think it's only fair to add it as it's part of the pic :p

  • +1

That’s actually not a GPU support bracket – it’s the RGB light strip on the Manli Gallardo GeForce RTX 5080 OC, which is one of the optional GPU configurations for this build.

Our default card is the Palit GamingPro GeForce RTX 5080, which does not include that RGB light strip.

    Sorry for the confusion!

    Thanks,
