Managed to extend this deal by going to cancel my discounted subscription and got an offer to extend it for another three months at same $4.99/month price. Some users have reported getting six months for $11.99/month instead. And other discounts if on Premium.

Any deals for new accounts? Keen to try for NHL this season
I cancelled mine but with games beginning this week, I have regrets.
I cancelled and have no regards,
Ew, Disney+
Ew, Disney.
Especially since they have no actual spine.
@Fuzor: They have a duty to look out for the long term health of the company and I would argue capitulating to trump censorship/fascism rather than going to court is a good way to make sure he keeps doing it and they keep capitulating
Execs (profanity) up
@Deals For Days: Without doing what they just did, there likely won't be a clear present to major parts of the company, let alone the future health of the entire thing.
Don't need to look at what people in Australia think, it's just not relevant or influential. Just look at Disney's share price. If the execs really screwed up, there be a bigger $ drop than what it is at now. The money market has deemed it a reasonable outcome
@Fuzor: I wonder how that's going….I see reports of the cancellation page on Disney crashing under the load of folks cancelling in protest.
Let’s all cancel Disney+ for one month, what harm could it do to their bottom line?
The only reason to cancel Disney+ is to send a message. Their big money makers are in merchandise and theme parks, not subscription fees. They could charge $5 per month forever and it'll look like a rounding error on the balance sheet.
Internationally by that I mean non English speaking countries, it won’t hurt them that much but it’s tainted now. It’s not something you can come back to, the Mouse is bad and will silence you if you don’t read from the script.
"will silence you if you don’t read from the script", They'd be pretty dumb to just let someone broadcast stuff on their platform they don't want and Kimmel was obviously bringing them in the path of some trouble. But the action against Gina Carano for comments in her own space, I don't agree with.
@tonka: Tthe thing is this is different, a merger of cooperations and mega conglomerate. Imagine this basic principle in a how much damaged on the market, look at how it changed consumers perspective and thier idea of spending. Ethics and prior knowledge changes a lot.
yes one of the biggest companies invests in something that makes negligible money and other benefits
They're called loss leaders. If the mouse actually wanted to make profit from their subscription with their movie and show investments, they'd need to charge at least $200 per month, not including the amount of people that would cancel with such a price hike.
But no, instead they give us a reasonable fee to watch their content, and then you go out and visit Disneyland for $250 entry fee, and $20 donuts, or you grab a Star Wars licensed t-shirt for $35. The margins in merchandise are far higher and more desired in some cases.
@Zythyx: it’s throway money from a bussiness point of view, but it was the bussiness move that is how thy are today. Creative people and creative minds are left in the dark.
I’m not going to see a Disney movie in theatres again.
Actually, I haven’t even seen a movie this year in theatres, come to think of it.what good things are they even making right now?
@surg3on: Idk man, been out of it for a while.
They’re doing Tron again, and they made a few follow-ups to Disney Channel franchises, but nothing special. Pretty much just nostalgia bait.
I mean, with 156,000,000 subscribers they must pull in $20-$30 billion annually, which isn't nothing
That is not correct. Subscriptions are their biggest revenue source. Revenue is split roughly as follows: Subscription fees ~ 22.4% of total revenues, Affiliate fees ~ 17.6%, Advertising ~ 13.0%, Admission (mainly theme parks) 12.2%, Retail/wholesale merchandise & F&B ~ 10.1%, Resorts & vacations ~ 9.2%, Other categories fill the remainder (licensing, etc.). Having said that, it is a very diverse portfolio, and a short-term drop in subscriptions is unlikely to hurt them very much. However, theme park and vacation revenue is also down because (a) fewer international visitors are travelling to the USA, and (b) they have started to price themselves out of larger segments of the domestic market. You need to be doing pretty well with cost of living these days to visit a Disney Theme Park in the USA.
Why just a month, Why not for all time?
I got $11.99 for 6 months when I tried to cancel
When did they offer it to you?
During the cancellation process or an offer after you cancelled?
When you clicked cancel. The next page was the offer before confirming cancellation
Unfortunately I didn’t see that.
Was hoping but nothing unfortunately.
And she's spot on.
One got cancelled for telling the truth, the other for being a bigot. One was the result of coercion by the federal government, the other was coerced by public opinion. They are not the same situation and anyone claiming they are is arguing in bad faith.
They are not the same situation and anyone claiming they are is arguing in bad faith.
Most claiming it’s the same situation only see the situation as “When I agree = good. When I disagree = bad”, so they think the rest of us think the same way too.
They don’t have the mental capacity and logic skills to understand the accurate reasoning you’ve shared.
Most claiming it’s the same situation only see the situation as “When I agree = good. When I disagree = bad”
Thanks for pointing out the problem with people on OzBargain. I point out a similar situation and because people here generally hate conservatives they disagree which equals bad. I also never said it was exactly the same. There's a lot of people here without the mental capacity to see similarities.
I don't think Kimmel or Canaro should have been sood down / fired.
Are you saying Kimmel was telling the truth. He said blatantly Kirk's killer was a MaGa guy.
Quote below shows that's not what Kimmel said. Apparently 'context' only matters with Charlie Kirk quotes but not Jimmy Kimmel ones?
We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it. In between the finger-pointing, there was grieving on Friday. The White House flew the flags at half-staff, which got some criticism, but on a human level, you can see how hard the president is taking this
@mick123: That quote literally does NOT say what you says it does.
It only says that MAGA spent a lot of time and energy denying that the shooter was MAGA.
It does not say ANYTHING about the shooter himself directly.
As he was not describing the shooter, Kimmel didn't need to say "the words allegedly, apparently, supposedly etc".
You drew the implication that the shooter was MAGA yourself. That says more about you than Kimmel.@mick123: Reading comprehension isn't one of your strong suits…
Let me explain what Jimmy is saying:
The MAGA supporters were coming out immediately after the assassination and desperately trying to make it very clear that the assassin wasn't a MAGA supporter (even though no one was even making such a claim that the assassin was a MAGA supporter).
Nowhere does Jimmy even comment about the political inclinations of the assassin. Jimmy was just commenting that the priority of MAGA supporters' response was "it wasn't us" rather than "our condolences".
Adding to that, the actual joke/bit/hook was the next sentence when Jimmy shows a clip of the even more heartless response of Donald Trump when asked by reporters what his thoughts were, he doesn't show much emotion and instead tells the reporters to look behind them at the big beautiful trucks delivering building materials for the White House ballroom…
@mick123: He didn't actually, he said Trump et al was doing everything they possibly could to make sure it didn't look like it could've been "one of them", which is a fact. The entire right went into overdrive before even having a suspect in custody proclaiming it was the extreme left…. Actual lies that I've seen zero on the right apologise for fabricating and proclaiming.
@Hardicus: Explain how Gina was being a bigot. Interesting that she sued Disney and they settled before court.
@heal: Apparently Gina was a bigot because she didn't want to list her pronouns. This made her the subject of a cancel campaign. Later she used the concept in the poem 'First they came' as warning of how things can go bad with divided people. The cancelers latched on to that as bigoted as well and got her sacked. Publicly and unprofessionally.
I totally agreed with her on the pronouns, being forced to label yourself is icky and a form of bigotry itself.
One got cancelled for telling the truth, the other for being a bigot
I don't think it is fair for you to say that Canaro was telling THE truth, they were both expressing their opinions. Unless you are the arbitror of what is truth and what is bigotry.
Funny how no one here thought Disney did anything wrong for sacking Gina Carano from The Mandelorian
Got a link to where the president or chairman of the FCC actively called for Gina Carano to be fired?
"Funny" how first amendment advocates don't see anything wrong with clear first amendment violations in the current climate
(Actually, not funny, downright terrifying how actively complicit a large portion of the US has become with clear constitutional overreach and how clearly spineless and lacking morals large corporations and their ceos are acting due to the threats of an authoritarian acting government. State run media use to be called out as a bad thing when places like China and Russia do it, but apparently it's speed run time in the US to try and catch up)Got a link to where the president or chairman of the FCC actively called for Gina Carano to be fired?
Are you saying it wouldn't be a problem firing Kimmel if the president didn't get involved? Or are you saying it's not hypocrisy because there are differences and in order to by a hypocrite it needs to be exactly the same situation?
Are you saying it wouldn't be a problem firing Kimmel if the president didn't get involved
That's the entire point.
Private companies, in a capitalism based society, are free to make (within reason) decisions on how they run their business.
If Disney wanted to shutdown the Jimmy Kimmel show because only 3 people watched it, great. (Any time I happened to see the show I thought it was pretty average. I'm more a John Stewart and John Oliver watcher :) )If Disney shuts down the Jimmy Kimmel show because the president posts on truth social that 'they are next', threatens to cancel media licences for those that talk poorly about him, and the FCC chair tells them that Jimmy Kimmel should be suspended and they can it do it the easy way or the hard way…well that's clearly not even in the same realm of reality.
In an authoritarian government, private companies, like say media companies, are directed or incredibly strongly persuaded, to ensure their messaging and content aligns with the authoritarian leaders wishes.
If you can't see the difference between these two 'examples', and how absolutely insane it is that the US is currently giving a "free pass" to the later, then I'm not sure what to tell you.
If you can't see the difference between these two 'examples'
Same for those who can't see any similarity. Except I agree that Kimmel shouldn't be fired and I'll also add that I don't agree that the president should have made those threats. I actally agree with a lot of what you said but not everything. I could go through specific points of what I agree and disagree with, however my main issue is how my comment that the majority of OzB celebrated Canaro's sacking (which Disney paid her a settlement for) but are against Kimmels show being cancelled. If the president didn't get involved and Kimmel's show was still cancelled due to public outrage, my contention is that the OzB members who would still be highly critical of the decision would be the ones that supported Canaro's sacking. Everyone knows that Trump is full of rhetoric. How many threats has he made that he hasn't followed through with? Whilst Trumps comments possibly made an impact, there are other factors at play here. Disney has huge pockets and whilst the Federal court has a majority of Republican appointed judges, unlike the democratic appointed judges recent history shows don't always side with the Republicans. Trunp has made threats to disney before and they haven't blinked.
Jjjaar made an excellent point about the OzB community …
“When I agree = good. When I disagree = bad”
Makes people blind to seeing the hypocrisy
@heal: Her name is Carano, not Canaro.
however my main issue is how my comment that the majority of OzB celebrated Canaro's sacking
A quick search on shows no one posted anything of the sort, no one cared when she was fired, no one is celebrating it here. You're making things up.
If the president didn't get involved and Kimmel's show was still cancelled due to public outrage, my contention is that the OzB members who would still be highly critical of the decision would be the ones that supported Canaro's sacking
What public outrage? Kimmel knows his own audience, much like Disney does.
You're big on hypotheticals and not big on facts.
Everyone knows that Trump is full of rhetoric. How many threats has he made that he hasn't followed through with?
When it comes to media companies? He's suing everyone at moment and many companies, universities and all sorts of groups are backing down.
Is there even a single scrap of evidence that there are "other factors"? Because there's a tonne of evidence that the FCC did Trump's bidding and pushed Kimmel. You're grasping at straws to find something else and you can't even say what it that something else is, just vague handwaving.
If Jimmy stood up and said 'All blah people are bad' id support sacking the bloke . If he stands up and says X people are bad because those specific people are factually doing Y I dont see the problem.
I got a word for her
"Yup"
(to clarify, I mean Tatty is correct, just to make that proper obvious)
Disney doesn't own her? She did one show on there which she was hired for lmao
Worked for me. Thank you
Disney is truly a scumbag company.
For this reason, i cancelled my sub after seeing this post.
I have moved to stremio + torbox instead. Back to piracy. How you finding TorBox.? I use RD but I have heard TorBox has improved quite abit since the RD outage late last year.
It's actually really good. Set up was a piece of cake. Just punch in a few api numbers here and there.
Then it just all connected into stremio via the add on. I chose the $3/m plan.
nekminut I have old-fashioned torrents streaming via the cloud onto my TV :DEdit for others interested: I looked into creating my own home server too and thought that was too much work and money. For $3 as a test if I could do it via streaming that was way better than working out plex/jellyfin + some micro PC set up.
Seems a bit of overkill, why not just download and move it to a usb, watch on the tv? Free!
@BatmanAU: Stremio is quite simple and quick to set up. Then you can basically stream everything off of private servers.
Which sites do you use for old-fashioned torrents streaming?
Do you have to use VPN to hide your IP address while torrenting?
What cloud service you use for your TV?
Is there a beginning guide to setup own servers for Stemio?
@Think: Use Tribler for downloading torrents, there is no need for a VPN… https://github.com/Tribler/tribler
I agree that they are a scumbag company. I had already decided not to renew when my subscription is up next month, however I'll see what they offer me to stay with them over summer. However, I won't be committing crimes to watch their shows.
Either everyone is allowed to commit crimes, or no one is allowed to commit crimes.
Clearly, only the rich can commit crimes; therefore, the law doesn’t matter as long as you’re rich.
Worth watching if you're on the fence about cancelling! Thankyou NOHORNY
I did this a couple of months ago, and got it from15.99 yo 11.99 however I tried again, and got nothing, so it will cancel in a few weeks, wonder if they will email me with an offer
Same here
Same. Seems targeted?
Politics aside. There's not much to watch on there if you aren't a kid. Might sub for one month when the new Bleach season is dropped.
They drove Marvel and Star Wars into the ground already.
I'd pay 10 bucks a month for that Simpsons streaming app they never bothered to bring to Australia alone
Thanks, Murdoch!
Thanks, Very handy to just finish watching the new Alien show.
Didn't work for me - asked me if I wanted to upgrade to premium instead lol.
Yeah me too - the cheek of them… would you prefer to pay even more? 😂
I just got an 11.99/month offer (previously paying full price)
I wonder if this has anything to do with the boycott I'm seeing online, after they cancelled Kimmel?
I got this a few days ago and was going to post it here, but wasn't sure how to post a deal with no link to it.
I just cancelled today again because bowing to an illiterate anti-intellectual embarrassment and having zero backbone is part of what caused this mess and is not a company who I want to support in any amount. Their content mostly sucks now anyway, I only signed up for Andor.
Yeah, it's actually a crazy juxtaposition: the story being told in Andor (and specifically the episode that won an Emmy recently) is what is actually happening in real life in USA right now.
I'm on a yearly plan at the moment and tried to cancel but nothing seemed to pop up. Might need to drop down to monthly first, then try and cancel…
I stand with Jimmy! 🇦🇺
I can't stand Jimmy! 🇦🇺
I agree with both of you. I can't stand him, but would 100% back him here 🇦🇺
Don't disagree with you. I was born in '71 and I haven't witnessed anything like these times..I don't think many fully appreciate what this all means and the degree to which this disease can spread here. I mean, it's already happening in real time.
@TheDukeOfNukem: When the highest judiciary in the land owes its existence to you, law itself bends into your will. No longer a limit, but your instrument.
@TheDukeOfNukem: It’s not legal, but he just does it anyway. Knowing cases take months/years to get to, they can only focus on the big breaches… and the Supreme Court is in his pocket anyway when it reaches the final step of appeals.
@seamonkey: He's been mulling about annexing Canada for months. Australia would be next, or left to the mercy of China.
If he, one of the softest late-night hosts, got sacked by Disney to appeal to their dear leader, then something is truly and terribly wrong with the country.
Jimmy’s got a compound fracture
Je suis jimmy
RD/TB + Stremio. Thank me later.
Can install stremio on old Chromecast or fire stick too
Real ozbargainers use their 100% cashback vpn to torrent.
Its only cheap because of the boycott happening now. Disney be getting BDSed for kowtowing to facism. lol

Wonder how long they'll have these deals on. I'm splitting with a dude on here around 15p/m (7.50ea) and feel like I'm ripping him off at this point
